On Sunday, I also finished knitting a plain pair of lightweight mittens that I’m using as liners for some other mittens that aren’t quite warm enough when the temperature dips below +10F. I knit the mittens from Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Mountain Twilight, 56 stitches on 2.5mm needles, using the basic mitten pattern from The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns.

“Wait a minute. This doesn’t seem right.” -Mayhem
“I don’t approve of this at all.” -Mayhem
“Help! Help! Someone call the ASPCA! I’m being mistreated! Help!” -Mayhem
Hehehehe… I bet if you’d made them stripy she wouldn’t have minded π
Oh, BTW… did you see these mittens? Somehow they made me think of you π Rav link: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cat-mittens
Cheers Eva
love the mittens. but, that cry for help looks suspiciously like a yawn. of course, i could be wrong;–)
Poor Mayhem, she’s so abused!
Bearfoot makes such nice warm mittens. You should be happy, Mayhem to have something so warm and luscious to keep you warm during a nap.
See, that’s the only way I can sometimes get Gandalf to pose with stuff – wait ’til he’s too drowsy to protest!
Nice job on the mittens!
What I love about those mittens is that the cuffs look like they’d go over the wrist. I hate it when I get mitts or gloves that end at the wrist. I want my wrists to be covered, dammit!
Mittens on kittens, kittens on mittens. Fox in socks, socks on fox. (Sorry, I have two kids, so your title reminded me of a Dr. Seuss.)
The mittens are wonderful (I like the handy book of patterns) and look warm. It’s been fairly warm the past couple of days here and rainy, but the cold weather is on its way back! I really need to make my own mittens since my old pair finally started to unravel last year.
Mayhem, you faker. You can tell by the first picture that you really love the warmth of the mittens. Yum, I have some Bearfoot in Mountain Twilight, now I want to knit it for sure!
OMG! Mayhem is huge! And gorgeous, too. π
I so need to knit some hand gear. After fixing the Cody sleeves. And the collar. And the sewing up. And the Kable Kid hat. And the SJ Gym Crews. And winding up some yarn to do it. And…and…and…
I have some socks in that yarn + colorway – boy are they warm.
Poor May – always treated like a table….
Ooh…I love me some Bearfoot.
Chris- Have you seen the pattern for Miriam Felton’s Dimorphous Mittens? I made some for Laura and everyone wants them.
You can use leftover worsted for the outer mitt, they’re great.
Poor May! If only the mittens had been dripping wet, then she would have loved to sit on them. π
Nice mittens! I’ve never knit with Bearfoot. I take it that it is nice stuff.
Hey Mayhem, at least it’s better than BIBS!
LOL, nice. Oh yes, pooooor mistreated kitty. Those mittens are so pretty, it seems almost a shame to cover them up. I have been bitten with the mitten bug too.
Poor mistreated May. Though, take a closer look. I think you’ll find the color looks great on black kitty fur.
May makes a beautiful mitten kitten π
Poor kitty cat. Reminds me of when I had to take Cookie to the vet, and she kept giving me meaningful looks.
I tagged you for the Six Things meme-blame another MN resident!
Poor little abused May! π
You are so in trouble now. But nice mittens! and kitten. π
Hi Chris,
Your mittens are way cute. Of course I would love to see them paw size! Kobe would NEVER wear those, would Mayhem & Chaos?
That is a great idea! They also make good cat mits. Or cat covers. Maybe May was just so hot, that you needed some insultaion to pick her up. Or you didn’t want to hit her with static electricity from the dry air of winter.
The mittens look great.
Oh, I love Bearfoot. I bet it makes nice mittens. Nice color too. I may have to get some more Bearfoot.
Poor abused Mayhem. At least you didn’t make cat size mittens and make her wear them.
Poor Mayhem. She is sooooo abused π
