Hey baby, what’s your superpower? The SoC second blogiversary contest

My second blogiversary was November 22. It’s very hard to believe I’ve been at this for two years – especially when I look back at those first painful posts. I continue to be amazed by the myriad ways blogging has enriched my life; when I started blogging, it never occurred to me that the impacts of blogging would extend beyond the blogosphere into “reality.” Many thanks to all of you who read Stumbling Over Chaos and who have become such an integral part of my life.

To celebrate all of that, leave me a comment telling me what your superpower would be if you suddenly had one. Your superpower can be grandiose or mundane, simple or complicated, subject to change or immutable. To play, leave your superpower comments on this post by Tuesday, December 4, 6 pm CST. Somewhere between one and three winners will be chosen by random number – knitterly persons will receive knitterly prizes and non-knitterly persons will receive… non-knitterly prizes. 🙂

Over the weekend, while walking around Lake of the Isles, I decided that my superpower would be to have an invisible bubble surrounding me. Within that bubble, I would be able to control the weather. Think how fabulous that would be! I wouldn’t need to be alternately frozen and sweltering walking around Lake of the Isles at this time of year. I could go biking in shorts and a tank top in January! Humidity control. Permanent umbrella. Windbreak. Ahhhh…

“Do you like my superhero look? My superpower would totally be to open the closet and get the MGWT out.” -Mayhem

P.S. Comcast folks – I am unable to reply to your comments because of some sort of spam blocking… Sorry!

  1. Wow, 2 years? Excellent!

If I could have a superpower, I would be able to turn into a cat so I could sleep all day and not feel the least bit guilty! That and the ability to knit at the speed of light, especially this time of year with all the Christmas knitting.

  2. Hmmm…I think I’d like my superpower to be the ability to read instructions and understand them immediately and remember them and carry them out.

With my luck though, my superpower would probably be something thrilling like the ability to always know what time it was.

  3. May looks so tiny in her cape today.

Hmmm, my superpower would be to control the calories I burn! Ha – I would burn every calorie I eat, no matter how much I eat!

  4. I’m a faithful reader of your blog, but I think this may be the first time I’ve left a comment…so Happy Blogiversary! If I could have one superpower it would be to control time…then I’d have time to knit and do laundry, cook, clean house and still have time left to spare. : )

  5. Happy Blogiversary!

My superpower… Well, if you watch the TV show Heroes, there’s a character that can watch anything another person does, or something on TV and instantly be able to do it. That would be cool. I could watch someone do some fancy knitting, and instantly know the technique!

  6. I’m sure many people would say this, but my superpower would be to control time — add more when I need it, and skip past the boring parts (like 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) 🙂

  7. I just said yesterday to a bunch of friends that I wish I had the superpower to magically have my knitting projects sewn up and ends woven in with the snap of my fingers. Yes, it’s a bit mundane when you think about all of the bigger and better things that superpowers could do…but knitters get it. That would be an AWESOME superpower. Happy 2nd Blogiversary!!

  8. I want a magic pair of scissors so I can cut parts of the world out of the way to bring things closer to me. Apologies in advance to the states Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Wash DC, N. Carolina, and S. Carolina – you have to go, I’m pulling Georgia closer to me so I can see my kids more often. How about I get some magic glue and stick you guys to Hawaii? That would be nice right?

  9. Congrats on the anniversary! I just started a yarn blog and I am realizing how much work it is! I really enjoy reading yours. Thanks for the time you put into it.

If I could have a superpower, I would choose the ability to prevent someone from telling lies. There is so much good that could be done in this world if truth and integrity could be restored, especially in our world leaders.

  10. Congrats on making it 2 years and on all the success! I think I would pick flying as my superpower, I could jump without a parachute, always wanted to do that. And being able to travel anywhere I want whenever I want, nice.

  11. I’d love to have the super-ability to instantly transport myself places. Not only would traveling be AWESOME, I could live anywhere in the world and have a 2-3 second commute to anywhere else. SWEET.

  12. Happy blogiversary!!!!!! Hmm…super power huh?…I think that I’d like to fly…but the again x-ray vision could be funny! Nah, I like the flying bit more though!!!

  13. I have some mutant powers already, but they aren’t terribly impressive. (I have the mutant power of not having any wisdom teeth.) I’d wish for the power of POOF-ing into a distant place instantly. Happy Blogversary!

  14. Yep, I gotta chime in with controlling time. And space, too, Hiro Nakamura-style. I would totally abuse the power tho, lol. Need more knitting time? BAM. Want to visit that yarn store everyone loves that’s an hour away? BAM. Awesome.

  15. Happy Blogiversary!!!!

    Oh…only ONE Superpower??? RATS!!
I guess if it could be only one it would be all the knitting knowledge in the world…I H.A.T.E. being limited!!

  16. Happy Blogiversary (from me, hank, and phoebe!).

I’m only a little embarrassed to admit that i’m stealing my super-power-of-choice from the boy, who didn’t even hesitate when I asked him (it’s the best super power I can think of):

If I were a superhero, my super power would be the ability to purr. Think about how awesome that would be! Think about how much good I could do the world! 🙂

  17. I’d be able to read minds. Anyone’s mind at any time I liked.

My knitting power would be to know all there is to knitting and be able to put those skills to use to be a famous, well-paid knitting designer by day and save the world through knitting by night.

  18. Chris- Happy blogiversary kid- it’s always fun over at your place.

It’s a little known fact that I already possess SuperPowers- my kids think I have eyes in the back of my head, and I can scare the crap out of them with my death stare.

I don’t even need to say a word!

  19. My superpower would be to fly. I think it would incredible to soar with the birds and above the clouds. I’d even wear a handknit sweater to stay warm. Happy blogiversary.

  20. Happy blogging anniversary!

My superpower would be – the ability to understand and respond in any language I hear spoken – like an automatic mental Esperanto!

  21. Mayhem — LOVE the look.

My superpower is so easy. I would be able to fly. I have always thought that would be sooooo cool.

If it wasn’t flight, it would be the ability to instantly transport myself somewhere because I’m always running late.

  22. My superpower would have to be magic. I think it probably encompasses everything else!
Happy Blogiversary! I don’t want to ever think of starting my day without my dose of SOC! (and M, too!)
    lol
    (((hugs)))

  23. Happy blogiversary to you! Going through the special abilities on Heroes, I think I’d love Hiro’s ability to stop time and travel through time. That would be so cool — You could pause time and knit like mad on something and then start it again, and come out with all your Christmas knitting done!

  24. Definitely some sort of mental superpower, like extreme empathy or ESP. Mayhem’s already got a superpower: ultimate cuteness!!

    Happy 2nd blogiversary!!

  25. Flying would be awesome–environmentally friendly and calorie-burning. My first thought was traveling back in time for a kind of historical revisionism, except I thin it would be bad for the psyche. Perhaps just slowing down time at will, so I could think before I spoke? And also have really long vacations…

  26. Happy Blogiversary! Hmm, I think I’d like to be able to teleport myself and anyone who’s hold my hand anywhere in the world (luggage included, of course) so that I could avoid all the icky aspects of our transportation system!

  27. Happy Blogiversary! The superpower I would like to have would be the ability to control other people’s actions. I’d have my kids cooking and cleaning while letting my hubby sit more and relax. I’d also have my daughter and son in law move closer so I could spoil my grandkids several times a week. lol

  28. Yay! Congrats on two years – always such fun to read your blog. Superpowers…well, I think that mine would be to be able to do all the things that I think of doing – so many good ideas, so little time. Maybe that is just the ‘time’ superpower that so many others seem to want too!

  29. Congratulations! I passed my 2nd year sometime in October, but failed to remember it at the time. I’d love the power of healing people. I’d start with my M.S. (obviously)and then take care of a dear friend who was just diagnosed with cancer. Wait a minute. Didn’t Stephen King write about that in the Green Mile? Well, I guess “talking” with animals would be my next superpower wish. Hey, that was Dr. Doolittle. Crud, I can’t think of any orginal superpowers. I’m going somewhere to sulk.
