Reading Update
A Book That Takes Its Time: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness edited by Irene Smit & Astrid van der Hulst. Good collection of essays from the magazine Flow. This book has all sorts of goodies in it – little journals, stickers, etc. Not sure whether I’ll use them or not, though.
*GLARING* -Chaos
Chris- Yeah, the sex doll thing. They apparently will be getting males dolls too. They have assigned names and personalities to them and you can even get two together.
Does hell in a handbasket have any resonance here?
A recent post from Lorraine..Is There an Igloo for Rent?
I kind of want that Russian car.
New Scully and Mulder are much improved over the old ones.
Startlingly low rate of reported harassment, they mean. Right?
Oh, Toronto. 🙁
Sex doll brothel…wtf
*remembers the documentary I watched about Japanese men having sex doll mistresses* ok ok
A recent post from blodeuedd..Movie Night: To all the boys I have loved before
We just saw 2001 in IMAX last weekend, and it really has held up super well.
I found the link to the Tor article about books that haven’t aged well, too, and it really is a though-provoking read. (In related news, thank you for the Tor ebook club suggestion.)
Sigh about the “startling to whom?” link. There’s a reason I don’t listen to music on my headphones when I go for walks. There’s a reason I (and several friends) have had conversations about going past my house and to somewhere public because we didn’t want creepy guys to know where we lived. Sigh. I really want to Freaky Friday some of these guys into a woman’s body so they can start to understand what it is that is truly startling.
A recent post from Nicole..101 in 1001 ~ update the twenty-sixth
Toy store circa the beginning of the world thru 2017:
Little Johnny: “I want a dolly that looks like a lady”
Mom/Dad/Society: “No Johnny, those are for little girls”
Toy store circa 2018:
Little Johnny: “I want a dolly that looks like a lady”
Mom/Dad/Society: “No Johnny, those are for little girls and GROWN UP MEN”
I will now resist the impulse to say that I am happy for those men, for having finally found a woman with whom they can have a relationship based upon absolute intellectual equality.
