A break in the scenery

Island Yarn Company is having a charity auction on ebay for Doctors Without Borders and and Kiva – you can purchase a handknit or crocheted blanket, sweater, tote, or scarf and support these organizations at the same time. All auctions close the evening of July 17.

Have I mentioned how proud I am of my dear friend Rebecca?! While her bellamoden sock yarn sells out lickity split at the Loopy Ewe, she does have some available at her etsy store right now.

I have been knitting – just very, very slowly.

“Could it be?!” -Mayhem

“Oh, I think it is!” -Mayhem

“Mmmm… stripey socks!” -Mayhem

“Although they are the perfect place for a bath…” -Mayhem

“I think I’ll just lie here and love on these wonderful stripey socks.” -Mayhem

*uncontrollable purring* -Mayhem

What? Don’t feel as if you actually got to see my finished socks? 😉 I knit them from Regia Banner Color #5451, using the stitch pattern from Charade and achieving near perfect matchy matchy. (You know how I am about the matchy matchy.)

  1. Hehehehe… what did you have to do to take a pic without kitty help? Lock her in a bedroom :)?

Gorgeous socks though… glad we got to see them.

    Cheers Eva

  2. I’m happy for Rebecca too! She does beautiful work.

Those are great pics of Mayhem. Lounging around on those beautiful blue socks (mmmmmm…)! What is it with kitties and wool?

  3. I’m all about the matchy, matchy, too.

    But you knew that.

Hey, Mayhem, how comfy are the socks? Will mom’s feet be comfortable in them?

  4. I’d not thought I was about matchy-matchy till I knit the Meilenweit you sent me, but I am! LOVE those socks…and love the photos of May!
    She looks positively blissful!
    (((hugs)))

  5. Chris- Stripey socks are as close as Mayhem and Chaos are going to get to a beach towel.

How else can they pretend they’re Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello? Kitten-Chow is more your Eric Von Zipper.

  6. she’s weird – and I say that as the mom of one who just ran through the kitchen with an eggshell in her mouth. Gotto go…..”SAAAAAAAMMMMMMMYYYYYYY”

  7. Guess I’d better not mention my extremely non matchy matchy mittens I am working on right now. (hey great name for them -thanks!!) As always Mayhem makes your socks look wonderfully rich.

  8. Love them! I’m all about the matchy-matchy if I can manage it though I’m *trying* to be better about letting the yarn do its thing. Good thing they are kitty approved!

  9. Obviously it’s been way too long since you’ve knit stripey socks, at least as far as May is concerned. 🙂 Nice socks and the matchy matchy thing looks perfect from here.

  10. Great socks! I once got matchy-matchy by accident (I ususally don’t try). I think Mayhem really likes the stripes. I wonder if she thinks you just do it wrong when the socks don’t turn out striped.

  11. Thank you for you, Chris! Truly. Maybe tomorrow between the antibiotic fog and the work work work I’ll blog 😉 I have grand plans even. Hahahahahahaha. Ahem.

    I love these socks!
