If you can guess how many ounces of caffeine were consumed by KitKatKnit and friends on their roadtrip last weekend, you could win a goodie bag! Leave your guesses by midnight PDT, June 26.
I’m sure we all have little oddities that amuse us, right? One of mine is the congruence of geometry and geography. Sometimes they’re obvious…
And other times, maybe not so much.
“Oh, Mom – Euclidean geometry is so yesterday.” -Mayhem
Geek Alert: I did my college thesis on “Quotient Rings and Euclidean Domains.”
Mayhem maybe too smart for her own good!
Ugh! Geometry… *runs away screaming*
Your inner math geek is showing.
And I, for one, like it!
I’m so glad Mayhem knew what the Euclid Place sign was alluding too – I am not one with the maths….
I’ll be honest. I’m clueless. I barely passed geometry (too much logic). Ya wanna talk poetry or literature?????
I have no oddities whatsoever. None. Not a one.
Gee-ahm-et-ree?
Huh?
I think Chaos is smarter then me. Glad you are feeling better, we all have those days. I so want to go to that lake.
Non-geek alert. I’ve been accused more than once of using pre-Euclidean geometry to figure something out.
Chris- I’d have to get the geek-math whiz son* to explain that to me- and that can be very demoralizing.
*since he’s 19 and knows EVERYTHING!!!
Ok….it’s all greek (or geek) to me!
{sorry, couldn’t resist}
(((hugs)))
i always wanted the hypotenuse of a triangle to be named after me
It’s so refreshing to know I’m not alone 😉
Wow she lol speaks and makes geometry jokes. Impressive.
I love amusing oddities, too, but most of the time I don’t get pictures of them.
The maths.. it makes my brain hurt! Admittedly I only got the triangle ones.. the rest of it went right over my head. I’m sure my math whiz husband would get a giggle out of them though.
I loved geometry. Too bad algebra and I didn’t get along or I would have been a math major.
Geometry, what is this geometry? J/K!
In high school I tutored a dyslexic boy in geometry. He tried so hard, but the angles and lines just didn’t make sense.
I love the Smith Triangle sign with all it’s prairie school-inspired horizontal lines and right angles–so not triangular.
Just what is Mayhem up to while you are at work? She seems to have depths that her fascination with the MWGT would not imply.
Is there any chance that the plots of land that the rectangular signs were resting on were at least triangular?
My favorite is signs that say “Baby Sale.” Bet they aren’t.
Sorry you have been feeling down lately. Hopefully the sunshine and those sweet kitties (in addition to the lawn art) will help you feel better.
Hey! That apartment building looks like my old domicile on Fremont Ave.! I miss Uptown….
I agree May. Non-Euclidean geometry is much more fun!
Math stuff is scary. I have to go cuddle some kitty now…
I’m always amused when I see your traffic circles (we call them roundabouts) 🙂
(hides behind the other bloggers…) geometry?? who me??? sigh… & a giggle too.
fabulous photos btw.
