Whew! The STR Mustang Sally Cable Twist Socks are finished – and finished days before the gifting deadline.
Notice how much darker the sock to the right/top is? Yet both socks are from the same skein of yarn…
“Don’t mind me, Mom – I’m just here to get my HPFM*! I’ll be out of the frame in a second.” -Mayhem
“I’m contemplating the nature of the universe back here. Leave me be. Do not tempt me with your socky concerns.” -Chaos
“Well, ok, perhaps I do need to check out these socks to see if they will be part of my Feline Universal Theory (FUT)…” -Chaos
*Hot Pink Furry Mouse
STR is like that…it just is. Cute pattern, cute kitty;-)
They’re lovely! Lucky giftee! : )
Nope! Since it’s a gift, you need to start a new pair. And because I like you, I’m willing to take those off your hands 😉
Oooh.. I guess that is one of the semi-solid STR yarns? Its gorgeous! I really love the cable pattern.. very cool.
FUT, hmmm, is there any correlation between FUT and the string theory? I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this Chaos. I have been spending some rather devoted time to the study of the string theory. Specifically, the one tied to my magic feather wand.

I love those socks, it’s difficult to see the shade variance, perhaps after a bath it will even out? Great color though anyway.
You know, I never would have noticed that had you not mentioned it!
Yes, Atticus has been known to sit in one spot and contemplate the meaning of life as well. I wonder if it works…
I thought pehaps May was doing a little color matching: “Do these socks go with my HPFM?”
Chris- Co-ordinating HPFM and STR? Co-incidence- I think not!
oh good, that’s a HPFM in her mouth. for a second, I thought she’d absconded with a chunk of sock
I thought that color diff was my computer screen. They both match the HPFM. I really like that cabley pattern.
You KNIT?!
Those are really nice. I like the colour and the….uh…would it be called a pattern? Those cable-like things? LOL
I thought May had grabbed the tiny leftover ball of STR (horrors!) and that HPFM stood for Hot Pink Fiber Meal. Seriously, that is what I thought.
Need more coffee.
Love the socks, and the color is great.
I am very nervous seeing your kitties so close to those socks. Perry went after my cotton yarn as I was cabling last night, and I think I’ve been scarred.
I’ll have to work on color-coordinating the kitty toys with my knitting – well done!
HPFM are popular round here too 🙂 They are the ones I picked up with you and Jeanne at the state fair so they are being rationed. HPFM is the hot favourite though.
PS Those socks are very pretty 🙂
I think everyone should match their cats’ toys to their socks for photo ops. Congratulations on finishing before your deadline. I often face the dreaded “dry the damp item with a hairdryer because I didn’t finish in enough time to properly block it” syndrome when it comes to gifts!
Beautiful socks! I wouldn’t have noticed the color difference if you hadn’t pointed it out. Course it may be more obvious in person. The HPFM goes well with them. For a split second there, I thought May’s tongue had become very large, bright, and furry. Not enough coffee yet. 🙂
that’s a great color. i want to see the cats try them on. one sock per head.
LOVE those socks!!!
Congrats on beating your deadline!
(((hugs)))
I had that happen with the last pair of socks I made for Larry from Plain & Fancy. They look loke two completely different skeins of yarn, even though it was only one. But he loves them anyway.
The socks appear to pass feline inspection requirments, so don’t worry about the colour thing. I have found that the knitter always obsesses more about that kind of thing than the knittee. Even if the knittee is ALSO a knitter.
Nice socks!
Yum yum yum! I should start a pair of Socks That Rock socks… (she says, chronically sssing.)
That hpfm made me spit-take for a moment there….
no mention of SRM lately… has it been lost forever? Perhaps Chaos left it on this side of the worm hole.
I see the difference in shades, but really, I think that is part of the charm and beauty of the handknit sock.
Those are lovely. I like the subtlety of the twisty cables.
Awesome! I don’t mind the difference in shades. Love the colour and the twists!
I really like those tiny little cables!
They turned out great!
they turned out so lovely.
bummer about the color difference – but hey, they are beautiful, so I doubt anyone will notice!
Beautiful socks and love the pattern.
