A Keen interlude

Emails were starting to trickle in last night, so maybe this morning things will get caught up and I’ll start to receive my comment emails in a timely fashion again. I really missed them yesterday! 🙁

Regarding kitties and sinks – Matisse left a comment pointing out that he is also a bathroom sink kitty. And then Deb posted some cute pictures of Sammy and Tig in her kitchen sink. (More on kitchen sinks later this week…)

Yesterday was an expensive lunch break. I went to REI and found some Keen boots on sale.

“What good are they if I can’t hide in them? Although I suppose I could hide some of my favorite furry mice in there…” -Mayhem

“Oh, come on, May – you should stick your head in just to see if you fit… Hee hee hee!” -Chaos

I was also unable to resist a new Keen bag, which has a little LED light that turns on when you open the bag…

“Where’s that light again? I want to see if I can get May to chase it!” -Chaos

  1. I bought a pair of the keen sandles once, only to give them away to a friend with slightly smaller feet… they ran small. Same with the boots? Or are they true to size? I liked the footbed, and their practicality.

  2. What a great idea?! I need to check out that bag, though of course, there’s nothing in mine except wallet, keys and a month’s worth of supermarket receipts and coupons!

  3. Yeah – you and all the Crackberry people must have been in withdrawals yesterday! “But I neeeeeeed my messages…you just don’t understand man…..I gotta have ’em….It’s like a drug man…..”

  4. I really like those boots, and that bag is totally cool. I need a flashlight in order to find my cell phone from within the depths of my purse, so I think that light might come in handy.

  5. The light turns on when you open the bag?! That’s GENIUS! I don’t know if I’m more upset that I don’t have one yet or that I didn’t invent it.

  6. I spy with my little eye – hey wait a minute, you identified them as Keens up front! I was at my local REI Saturday (the smallest one in the REI system) and the only Keens on sale they had were the Amsterdams (instep not high enough for me, but Blogless Kim scored a couple pair)

  7. You only bought one pair of shoes! Stalwart!

I love the idea of a lighted purse – I bought one and brought it home and it quit working – harumph.

  8. Chris- About the only great thing about this time of year is the winter stuff goes on sale.

The light in the handbag, great idea. I’m not sure I really want to see what’s living in mine.

  9. I wish Keens were more consistent. I have the Bali sandals, which fit me perfectly and actually have arch support. I tried their hurache-styles, but they are all far too wide and fall had something going on with the insole, and are too wide as well…and I have wide feet.

  10. My parents were stationed in Italy early on in their marriage. One apartment they rented came with a cat, due to the harsh and long process to get pets back to the US at that time. My parents were ok with the cat growing too big for the sink and moved into the bathtub, but they both decided that if the cat grew out of the bathtub, they’d just pay his rent and find another place. 😉

  11. That is one slick bag! I’m super excited that we’re actually getting an REI right in the city next summer; right now an REI trip involves a very long and traffic-filled trek out to the suburbs.

  12. Oooh.. Keen bag & boots! I found a really cute pair of summer sandals that are Keens but the reviews on Zappos were bad enough to put me off of them. I’ll probably end up going with a leather Teva sandal – I’m looking for something “dressy”. (is it bad that my idea of dressy STILL comes from REI?)

  13. I get the plague for a lousy week and you start [contemplating] dating again? Cool!

Why is Mayhem laying on a wet sweater in the sink?

    And: ooooh. Cool Keen boots!

  14. Interesting idea having the bag light up when you open it. The first thing I think of is trying to get something in a movie theater (shut that light off!) hmm… Very cute boots 😉

  15. OMG–Keens! I love Keens! Those boots are incredible.

I have a pair of Mions, made by Keen, water sandals, and I. Heart. Them. I wear them year round, even in the snow.

    Yes. I am insane.

  16. Nice boots! I like the idea of a bag with a light. Katie doesn’t sleep in the sink. She likes to drop her food in the round bathroom sinks, watch it roll around, and try to catch it before it goes down the drain.
