Leave Jodi a comment by October 13 letting her know that you’re a sock knitter, and you could win some bright hand-dyed sock yarn!
Darlene’s having a contest to win a skein of STR, and if she gets 50 comments, she’ll give away a second skein (mysteriously described as being her favorite sock yarn). Leave her a comment about your favorite sock yarn and sock pattern to participate.
Reading Update
Fantasy Lover, Night Pleasures, and Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Yes, yes, finally reading some of the Dark Hunter novels! I liked the first two (Fantasy Lover and Night Pleasures) quite a bit more than Night Embrace. I’ll have to see how the next few compare…
Time Cat by Lloyd Alexander. I recently found used copies of some books I read as a kid and plan to reread them. This had to be the first, since there’s a black cat on the cover. 🙂
The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book, and The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde. It was definitely time to reread the Thursday Next novels. I must admit, after suffering through Wuthering Heights, I got a lot more out of the WH character rage counseling session in The Well of Lost Plots. Hee hee. Here’s a favorite quote from that book:
I kicked off my shoes and flopped on the sofa next to Gran, who had fallen asleep over the sock she was knitting. It was already a good twelve feet long because, she said, she had “yet to build up enough courage to turn the heel.”
What sock knitter hasn’t been there, eh?
Ok, that’s it for today. I kinda overdid it yesterday on the computer and am definitely a bit worn out! Maybe I’m not quite ready to whittle away those unread blog entries yet…
“I told you so, Mom! You need to take more naps!” -Chaos
Well, I finished the first Marina Piccolo sock last night, and I have to say I will not lack the courage to turn the heel on the second one. This sock is GORGEOUS. You must make it.
See, I’m just the opposite. I try to come up with schemes to make the leg of the sock shorter so I can get to the heel faster–it’s my favorite part!
Awww, what a cutie picture of our man Chaos! I have visions of him tucking you into bed.
Chris- Get back in that bed, Missy!
(That’s how I talk to my daughter, in my mother voice.)
Scared ya, didn’t I?
Listen to Chaos. After all cats know all about napping. The blogs will still be here when you’re rested up.
Dear Chaos, see that “Mark All Read” link? Click it a couple of times!
Feline devotion doesn’t make you immune to the evil scolding stare. Indulge to poor guy–crawl into bed. Everything else will wait. Even May’s desire to test the softness of each and every handknit sock (with a nap, I might remind). Even Old Man Weather is onboard with this..
Don’t overexert yourself — the kitties need you!
Listen to Chaos. He knows of what he speaks!
Take a nap! Click the mark all read! Read books! Hug catchenal units!
*hug*
I found that if I get too far behind on blog entries, that it is best to just mark all read, and move on.
Most people know that you’ve had major surgery, and everyone will understand – promise!
today = a little more nap and read, a little less sit up and about.
be good to yourself dear Chris…
Relax, enjoy and rest!!
I’ve read Kenyon’s Night Pleasures, but I mistakenly thought it was the first in the series. Now I’ll have to go back and read Fantasy Lover before I keep going forward with the series…
Read lots, knit lots, and rest lots! Your kitties know what’s best for you.
I love the Thursday Next novels! I remember first reading that bit about Gran and the sock, just after I had started my first pair of socks.
Keep resting, we’ll all be here when you get back. 🙂
I was surprised after my surgery how many naps I needed–so take it easy! Chaos is right on this one (when he says he needs 2 cans of tuna a day to keep up his strength–there is an exaggeration).
Listen to the cat – he knows from naps.
It is quite common to start doing too much because you feel OK. Just think of this as YOUR time to relax and heal. Follow the kitties’ example.
Take more naps. As many as possible. Do it for all of us who aren’t getting enough sleep ;o)
The cat knows. Listen. Listen.
I’ve never seen Chaos look so stern 🙂
Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my favorite naughty authors. She’s great! Her DH series is lots of fun. If you like that series, you should also read her Werehunter series. (All the hunters are linked somehow)
yeah you rest, stop with the stuff
Chaos can really give you the Evil Eye, can’t he?
Please take it easy! We’re not going anywhere…you can catch up eventually
🙂
(((hugs)))
Cats know – Naps are Fun!
Go Take One
Nurse Chaos is right, back to bed Mom,
and
have lots of naps, so Chaos and May can snuggle.
Rest, rest, rest! Don’t push it. You’ll be back at full strength soon enough. Now is the time to sleep and recharge.
Slow down and listen to the “kids”.
You listen to Chaos! Rest.
I’m more of a sock fancier/collector of patterns than sock knitter.
Why are you reading this? Didn’t I tell you to go back to bed & rest?
Granny Next is a hoot! Love Thursday and her crew.
Take care of yourself!
Ok I LOVE that quote!! :LOL And yet I cant wait to get to the heel becau6set5 ggggggggggr (sorry, apparently Hemi wanted to say hi) because that mean’s I’m half way done!!
Ok now get off the computer and take a nap!! I swear those cats have it right!!
The more you rest, the sooner you’ll be 100%. Ain’t nothin’ any of us are doin’ so important for you to read about right now, Ma’am. Rest. 🙂
How funny – I bought Time Cat at B&N in Boston and just read it!
Chaos is right! Heh.. hmm maybe that is why my last pair of adult socks never got too far… I’m just working up courage to turn the heel, yea right… 😉
Seriously, pick ten or fifteen blogs you’re going to read and mark the rest of them read. It shouldn’t be an obligation! 🙂
I agree! Don’t worry about catching up. Just mark everything read- (of course read your favorites first!)
