Thanks for all the wonderful comments last week – I’m sure I’ll manage to reply to them all eventually! 🙂 I am convinced that all of the positive energy you’ve been sending my way helped everything go well.
Many thanks to guest blogger Jeanne, who did a great job (especially with the two minute Stumbling Over Chaos blogging tutorial she received). And I would particularly like to thank my brother and SIL, who have been absolutely amazing throughout all of this.
I suspect you won’t be getting the most profound or coherent narratives from me until I’m off the meds (please do not leave medication names in the comments – they’ll draw spam comments, alas). I’ll be using the WordPress timed publish feature these next few weeks, as I’ll be sleeping in and recuperating.
My surgery last Wednesday went very well and was laproscopic – doctors won’t guarantee that it will be laproscopic, because if there are complications, they may need to make an abdominal incision… so you never exactly know until you wake up! I was pretty miserable (whole lotta puking going on) for the next 20 hours or so, until the anesthetic was out of my system and they switched me off the particular medication I wasn’t reacting well to. But by midday Thursday, I was feeling pretty good and was starting to go out for short walks.
Later Thursday afternoon, Deb came to visit and chat and knit. Then my brother and SIL stopped by for a few minutes. After they left, Jeanne arrived and presented me with a gorgeous yarn bouquet from she and Deb! Aw, you guys. 😀
You can see a floral bouquet peeking out from behind – that was from my brother and SIL and contains cat-safe flowers and ornamental peppers. More on that later. *insert ominous foreshadowing music*
Friday I felt wonderful and my doctor said I could go home that afternoon. My brother gave me a ride home, stocked my freezer with homemade gluten-free meals, cleaned the litterbox, and left me to have a quiet evening and wonderful night’s sleep in my own bed. Ahhhhhh… The only downside was Chaos – he was extremely upset that I smelled like the “vet” and spent much of the evening acting out.
Saturday morning I woke up to a bit of a mess. Chaos really liked the flowers and ornamental peppers and felt he needed to knock them over. Fortunately, my dad stopped by later to vacuum and leave a small hand-vac for me. But hey – at least I must’ve finally smelled like me again, because Chaos has been back to normal since early Saturday.
“What dirt on the floor? I don’t see any dirt.” -Chaos
Saturday afternoon, Jeanne came over with a stack of DVDs and some get-well gifts from MrsPao. More on those in a different post, but do you think May liked the gift for she and Chaos?
*bite bite bite bite bite* -Mayhem
Jeanne and I spent a lovely afternoon knitting, chatting, and eating Chipotle that Jeanne picked up for us. On Sunday, my friend Wendy stopped by with a gorgeous bouquet of yellow roses – I was a bit nervous about their fate, but the cats don’t seem interested in the roses at all. Now I’m wondering if it’s because the other bouquet is red flowers and the purple peppers – you know how Chaos is about those red mice… Wendy returned a few library books for me – yay!! Later my friend Lisa stopped by with some groceries I needed, plus Thai takeout. Yum! We had a great time chatting, too. I am going to be so spoiled when real life resumes…
Glad to hear that you’re home and feeling a bit better. And that they were able to work without any incisions.
Enjoying the spoiling. No one would do it if you weren’t such a wonderfully nice person!
Welcome home! So happy to hear that they could do it all by scope. You’ll be feeling great in no soon and enjoy all the spoiling in the meantime. You deserve it!
make that *feeling great in no TIME*
Nothing wrong with a bit of spoiling now and again.
Glad everything went OK, enjoy it while you can- the being waited on hand and foot I mean 😉
I’m so glad that you’re home. Make sure and let people help a lot so that you recover quickly. Silly kitty… I wonder if the peppers burned her mouth. The yarn bouquet is the most beautiful and cool present I’ve seen in a really long time.
Welcome home! I’m glad to hear everything went well and that you’re feeling better.
Jeanne and Deb ROCK! That’s a great bouquet… You should be spoiled, mmmmm Thai takeout…and Chipotle…
Boy kitties are funny. Ask Lorraine sometime what Atticus does when he’s “not in the mood” for humans, and just plain cranky.
Welcome home!!!
Magic, our friend Anne’s cat *loves* roses. They are her potato chips. Fresh is always best of course, but the dried version will do come about February, LOL! It’s I have no doubt she would have tipped those lovely roses over. Did Chaos eat the peppers or just play with the plants/pot?
glad to hear everything went well!
Very glad your surgery went so well!
Chris- In my book, you know that people care about you when they clean the litter box.
As for Brigitte’s Atticus, I have been on the receiving end of his massive paws- thank goodness no claws.
You look great, and you’re going to feel so much better.
Welcome back! LOL. I was wondering if Chaos would hiss at you when you came home with that “vet” smell. The yarn bouquet is gorgeous. It’s the perfect recovery bouquet. Nothing wrong with a bit of spoiling while you’re recovering.
Welcome home. I’m so happy to read that you’re doing well. Enjoy being spoiled; it will end soon enough.
Glad everything went well, except for all the puking of course, and that family and friends are taking such good care of you!
So glad to hear that all went well! You deserve some spoiling while you recover, especially since Chaos was so rude when you first came home. Good to see May has found something other than your Addi Turbos to bite.
Yay!!!! Chris is back. Get well and strong fast. And, thanks to Jeanne for keeping us posted.
Glad to hear things went okay, and Chaos as reaccepted you into the fold. What a cool boquet, absolutely perfect.
Hope things continue to go well. Now pamper yourself! And don’t get up. And well its too bad Chaos wouldn’t wear a little knapsack and bring you things 🙂
Glad that all went well. Good thoughts for a quick recovery.
So glad you’re being spoilt and enjoying it too. Love the yarn bouquet…..I want one now!
I had a laparoscopy as day surgery many years ago – and still have the teeny scar. Its great they managed to it that way and no doubt helps to your recovery.
Keep on resting ;0)
A yarn bouquet? Ok.. I know what I’m going to tell my husband I want for my birthday now!! I’m glad to see that you are doing well.
Glad you’re home and doing well, and that the cats have forgiven you for your absence! See, that’s the difference between your cats and my dog. Gracie would be like “OH THANK GOD YOU CAME BACK I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONE FOREVER AND IT WAS ALL MY FAULT AND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH PLEASE LET ME LICK YOUR FEET”.
I’m glad to read you are home.
I hope you heal fast and well.
So glad you’re on the mend… and it was so nice of the kitties to keep you entertained with some cleaning chores while you recouperate!
Glad your back home and recovering well. Cats are strange and can be sooo snarky. Glad Chaos seems to adjusted after his little snack.
so glad you’re home and feeling better!
Welcome home!
Yay, you’re back! Poor Chaos. The antiseptic smell must be traumatizing to him. So glad you’re feeling better and it’s all behind you now. Rest easy!
I’m so glad you’re doing so well! Continue to take it easy, of course.
Gentle hug! I’m glad you’re at home now and on the road to recovery!
Glad you hear you’re back home to mend. Hope your recovery goes well and your fur kids take good care of you.
And that yarn bouquet is the cutest thing ever! 🙂
I bet theres some wicked knitting to show for your down time 😉
Glad you’re home, feeling better, and not squicking Chaos out anymore.
Well, probably not a lot of wicked knitting yet (referencing the last comment), at least if ‘that particular medication’ and the anesthesia and the new meds do to your brain what they did to mine — definitely the pilot light was on low at that point! And I had the same reaction to the particular medication after the same surgery. Bleah. “Make a note of that for the future on my chart, please.”
Mayhem has those catnip eyes going on. And, Chaos, I hope you’re done acting out, your mom doesn’t need to be dealing with that right now!! Whether or not she deserves punishment for abandoning you and going to the people vet!
Oh, and yarn bouquet? What awesome friends!
No duh! If this is how you get treated – I say, bring on the surgery! Get to bed now and rest!!
Good to see you’re on the mend – I’ve been thinking about you.
So glad you’re doing well! I had a laparoscopy several years ago and the recovery is a bit faster than an abdominal incision (which I’ve also had – 2 c-sections). Isn’t it amazing how far surgery has come! Still, take care of yourself!
Glad things went well and the hospital stay wasn’t too long. That yarn bouquet is fab!! : )
Glad you’re back and smelling like yourself again! 🙂
Home again, home again! With so many good wishes headed your way, you’ll be back to your new self in no time flat, Chris.
Do over do it right now. Slow and steady is the ticket. Chaos and May will adjust 🙂
I’m so glad you are home safely. That yarn bouquet is wonderful *chuckle*
I mean *don’t* over do it, of course.
I’m glad you’re back! I haven’t tried your first mentioned medication but the 2nd I didn’t like at all now the one that starts with a D I got when I was in the hospital with my blood clot, and I *loved* that one!
Speaking of which, that gorgeous yarn in the middle of your bouquet is calling out to me – what a nice gift you got!
Welcome home, so glad everrything went well and those pesky bits are now gone.
Relax and enjoy being spoilt by all who love you.
Nurse Chaos and his his trainee nurse May with provide all the essentials for a speedy recovery —— lots of snuggles and purrs.
Happy recovery and lots of therapeutic knitting.
I’m so relieved that everyone is taking good care of you.
Glad you’re feeling better! Meds are good…very good. (The yarn bouquet is beautiful!!)
Didn’t you say six weeks of medical leave?
If that’s only the first few days, will you ever be able to live in the “real world”?
Glad to see you back home! Get plenty of rest and take your time getting back.
Glad you are back home and feeling better! I hope you continue to recover well, and how nice that you are being spoiled – you deserve it!
Everyone should have friends like that to help them recover. And the brother rocked it too with the fridge stocking and litter box cleaning. Good to know you’re being taken care of. And are feeling good enough to blog. Enjoy the meds. Lord knows I did after the tonsils came out a couple of years back.
