This post is coming to you via the miracle of pre-publishing. As you read this, I hope to be snugly asleep in my bed, after having worked on a switch upgrade from midnight until 4 or 5 am. Do I have a wild life or what?! 😉
Have you seen the IKEA cat beds on Cute Overload?! They would so match my slippers, wouldn’t they?
Cara’s holding Spin Out 2007! By donating to Heifer International, you can be eligible for some absolutely amazing prizes – besides helping reduce hunger worldwide.

Reading Update
Dark Thirst by Sara Reinke. A little trashy, but a nice distracting read. Probably the only book (obviously intended to be a series, since it stopped in the middle of the action) about a deaf-mute vampire…
White Night: A Novel of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Mmmm… Harry Dresden. Latest book. Tall, smart alecky, sexy wizard in Chicago. What else do you need to know?
Dead Sexy by Tate Hallaway. Witches and vampires and zombies in Madison, Wisconsin, oh my! This second Garnet Lacey book is an engaging read, too.
Death by Chick Lit by Lynn Harris. If this was supposed to be a spoof of chick lit, I’m not sure it succeeded very well. I found it to be a boring read…
Stripey Update
“You don’t think that big kitty’s going to try to steal my stripey socks, do you?!” -Mayhem
“He better not! These are my stripey socks! Mine!! All mine!” -Mayhem
“Now I’m really worried.” -Mayhem
“Really, really worried! I better hold on tight to my stripey socks so the big kitty can’t sneak up and take them.” -Mayhem
Oh, you so have my sympathies… I’ve been there. I have another SQL upgrade on Saturday. Nice. Our lives ROCK!
Mayhem, Gandalf says that he’ll defend you should big kitty try and steal your socks, even though he’s not guaranteeing he’ll actually keep him from getting them!
I can understand why Mayhem really likes these socks. So do I. I’m surprised because the colors aren’t something I would normally choose. Yay on finishing the Spiralling socks, they look great. : )
So, has there been a real fracas over the stripey socks yet or has Mayhem just descended into pure paranoia?
Neatnik likes the Mayhem pictures but is now bugging me for pictures of Chaos. Honestly – she really is. Almost in tears over it.
Such a cute face you have May, hope your mom gets to wear those socks once in a while 😉 Enjoy sleeping in, sounds like a trying night indeed.
I think it’s time you do the right thing! Buy more of that yarn and knit a blankie for her.
Yup. I agree with Marina. She so deserves her own kitty blankie in that yarn…
(then perhaps you can wear those socks with your black cat slippers!)
Sleep well – you deserve THAT!
(((hugs)))
Oh, sleep tight! And poor Mayhem. All skeered over her socks! I suppose she hasn’t decided yet what to do with them, mm?
kitty blanket? sock yarn? wow. that would be some serious dedication. my stuffed sock mousie would be a much quicker knit.
methinks Mayhem needs some stripey socks of her very own! 🙂
May isn’t letting go of those socks for love or money, eh?
Chris- May has staked her territory. What about a mousie in that yarn?
I think we all need to get together and start a fund for May to get some kitty therapy (or a pair of socks of her own!)
“You can donate anything except my pen on a string”- Bert
Mayhem reminds me of the cat in the comic strip “Mutts” (which sadly my paper here doesn’t carry), with her beloved little pink sock.
Oh, I love it when the kitties “cat loaf” on anything, but on a sock?!? too cute!
Now you know what to get May for her birthday.
Thank you for the shout out! I really appreciate it!
Will May ever give up her hold on the socks and let Mom wear them? If Mom tries to wear them will she let her walk without tripping her? Will the Big Kitty come and give May a run for her money or let her cuddle the socks forever? Will this story be ongoing and we’ll see May and the socks for months to come?
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Those cat beds are TOO MUCH! LOL!
Hopefully you’re having a very good sleep. 🙂 I saw that cat bed yesterday and thought about you.
I hope you didn’t plan to wear those socks. I’m not sure May will give them back. Maybe you have enough yarn to make May a tiny sock of her own.
Very wild life indeed!
I’m sure I probably missed it in one of your posts way back when–how is the first book in the Dresden series?
Sydney’s got the right idea, only I think you’ll need to make her a set of 4 little kitty socks. Or maybe you could make one little sock and stuff it for her to play with. You really need to do something or she’s not gonna let you have those back 🙂
Thanks for mentioning my fund raising effort!
Those cat beds are hilarious. The part I can’t figure out is that IKEA says “assembly required.”
Should I put the Dresden books on hold at the library? I know D and I started watching the series on Sci-Fi and liked and I kept meaning to look into the books… Right now, all the books that I’ve stumbled across to read or have had recommended to me have hold lines on them *sigh*
Oh, no! The big kitty cometh! Better take those stripey socks to your fortress of solitude, May!
Now I have an excuse to get pao to go to Ikea!!
Hee hee hee! Mayhem is so cute.
So, from the sound of it, ‘Death by Chick Lit’ is more likely to kill you of boredom than laughter, huh? I’ll be sure to avoid that one.
I think you should make May a dog mask and then Chaos would totally not attempt any pilferage
totally digging your reading list! I just finished listening to several Mary Janice Davidson’s Betsy the Vampire Queen books and was looking for more in the same vein (hehe, pun intended). Did you know the Mpls Public Library has an eAudiobook check out plan? I’ve downloaded and listened to 8 books for free in the last few weeks.
Okay, when I [finally] get around to knitting and felting a cat bed, it totally has to have eyes and a tail. No question. Not in black, though, black is devil’s work, aka “fur magnet,” round these parts. Only one of our many furry beasts is black; the others shed lighter colored bits.
I am telling you. That cat bed is frightening. Yes, May, hang on to those striped socks!
Oooh I didn’t know the Dresden files came in books – gotta go – off to Aazon 😉
Heehee! I love May’s little paws curled protectively into fists there…
Too bad that they don’t have a torti bed to match my Penny. May and those socks…is she normally like this with an article of your clothing? It’s too cute.
You are SO out of the same wild mold as that Mayhem!
Hold on tight Mayhem! Those are YOUR socks.
Stripey socks are for sleeping, not eating. You May not get them back. I’m LOL over the silly cat beds. Perhaps I could “replace” the plain brown box with one of those…. Your family needs/wants 2–consider it a make-up for the “almost felted” cat bed. You can all nap and lounge together–in coordinated beds/slippers.
