Don’t forget about the Project Spectrum mix cd contest! Submit your email entry by 6 pm CDT, Wednesday, August 8.
And don’t worry when there’s no post from me tomorrow – the Knitty Professor will be staying at Casa de Chaos y Mayhem tonight and I’m taking tomorrow off to play.
Reading Update
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling (audiobook). Making good progress on listening to books 1-6 before I get the book 7 audiobook from the library.
Candy Apple Red by Nancy Bush. No, no, not that Nancy Bush! 🙂 This is the first Jane Kelly mystery – it was an entertaining read, and I’ll definitely read more in this series. It’s kind of fun that protagonist Jane Kelly is lactose intolerant. Hmm, maybe there’s an open niche for a mystery series featuring a gluten intolerant sleuth…
Water Like a Stone by Deborah Crombie. The most recent Kincaid and James mystery is as engaging and well-written as all the previous books in the series.
Knitting Update
Can you believe it?! Two posts in a row about knitting?? I’ll wait while you all recover…
After taking a month to knit the Serpentines, I’ve already made great progress on this month’s Sockamania Spiralling Socks, which I am knitting from Trekking Pro Natura (75% wool, 25% bamboo, color #1607).
“I don’t see any sock in here! Oh, but that ball of yarn sure looks tasty… Does bamboo taste like kitty grass?” -Mayhem
“Oh! Here’s the sock! Maybe I can quietly gnaw a little hole in it while Mom’s distracted with the camera…” -Mayhem
“Hmph. I don’t see why you’re so unreasonable about me tasting your knitting. It was only going to be a wee little hole. Hmph.” -Mayhem
How do you like the pro natura so far? I’m just about to start a pair from that myself…
Wow your heels are nice… (OK, anyone not into knitting would think that a bizarre statement.) Must expand my sock knitting repertoire.
(I’m beginning to think I’m the only person around who has not read or listened to a HP book, or seen the movies.)
Nice socks! 🙂 I finally got in and burned through the first one this weekend too. Must be an addictive pattern! So….do you adjust all the socks you make…for 0’s? Since most are written for 2’s? It sounds like……MATH!
I’ll need a longer time to recover if it were the two projects I mentioned yesterday 😉
I’m less concerned about two posts about knitting in a row and more concerned about no posts tomorrow. 😉
Apparently I can’t spell my own name. LOL.
look at you go!!!
Knitters are very unreasonable about holes in socks, May. Unless they are the yarn over type holes: then the knitters are neurotic about them and exactly where they are placed.
You’re positively zipping along! And I…. I balled up the yarn. That’s it. Hmmm. You mean I need to knit it to get the socks? But that’s so unreasonable.
No post tomorrow?! *twitch*
She’s your little lace maker! Have a good time with Knitty Prof!
Oo, I like the color of those socks. Very pretty.
Have fun tomorrow!
Thanks for the warning, I won’t panic when you’re not here! 🙂
May, please don’t get your head caught in that Posy Sock Sack!
(((hugs)))
Your sock looks great! How do you like the yarn?
Have fun with the Knitty Professor!
Have a good time with Michaele!! May! Behave yourself!
I have nightmares about holes in socks…very vivid & bad nightmares.
Oh wait – thats real life
Do you do audiobooks? I was wondering how you got in so much reading time. Have fun with KP.
First you take about knitting two days in a row. Then you tell us you might not post tomorrow. This is going to take some time to sink in. (Not that I have room to talk.) 😉
Have fun with the Knitty Professor.
I love the color in the socks
I’m glad you liked Candy Apple Red. I’ve got Electric Blue in my stack from the library, but I need to buzz through Janet Evanovich’s latest offering first. Have you read any books by Elaine Viets? She’s pretty funny and you might enjoy her series and she has different series.
Will you please feed May…this is just getting to be sad.
Can’t wait to hear about all your antics on Thursday.
Those socks are great, perfect for a wintry day or for cat chewing
Oooh pretty! I like the bag too!
It looks like you never feed May haha! Those socks are pretty…love the colorway. I just bought some bamboo yarn myself this past weekend and it was surprisingly soft. How does that yarn feel?
Mom, you’re such a killjoy. Can’t you let a kitty have a little fun now and then? Just a wee bite?
Casa de Chaos y Mayhem has a nice ring to it. Maybe you could start a B&B.
my kitties think that bamboo is a gift from heaven just for them – all bamboo clothing must be hidden away as soon as it is taken off, lest the cats take a chew.
Your socks are lovely.
Really cool socks.
That’s a cool looking sock! Or what I can see of it, anyway. May’s head is kinda distracting. 😉
May, you never know what could be in those bags 😉 best let Chaos check before you stick your head in there. You’re really burning through the sock projects!
Oooh.. pretty socks! I’m going to have to look at the Trekking bamboo yarns because I wasn’t too thrilled with the heathered XXL.
I’ve missed 28 of your posts…Life has interfered with my web browsing, knitting and …. breathing, lol. Yours is the first blog I had to check and of course..you have lovely finished socks. 🙂 Love the lenten rose!
It’s not a hole at all, it’s ventilation. After all, your feet do need to breathe.
Mayhem- Pepper doesn’t get it either why I won’t let her floss with my yarn or chew on my needles. Truth be told it’s because we are just Mean Mean Mommies…
Unnatural mother. Denying Mayhem the sustenance she needs.
Wait. She’s not a moth. Never mind. 😉
Cute socks! And quick!
Hmph, Google Reader didn’t tell me you had a new post. The Spiralling socks sure go fast, don’t they? I also did a double-take when I saw the Nancy Bush books, too funny, will definitely have to check out one soon.
Have fun tomorrow!
ah, so nice to be back online again–and see socks and chaoses and mayhems!
i thought of you as soon as i heard about the bridge. so glad to know that you’re okay.
and couldn’t be happier to get me some sock’n’kitty fix!
no post tomorrow???? 🙁
Chris- Oooooh! Playtime!
Have fun in the sandbox!
Gorgeous socks! What do you think of the Pro Natura? BTW, I second Brigitte’s comment — great heel.
Silly Mayhem… socks are for knitting, not for eating. I’m very lucky that my kitties are mostly uninterested in knitting and yarn, probably b/c they’re getting up there in years (11 or 12)
Ooo, have fun with the professor!
Mayhem, not all yarn should meet a toothy demise, only acrylic, fun fur and other atrocities deserve the bite of death. Than again, I doubt that your mom keeps such horrors in her stash and therefore you have no choice but to eat the good stuff.
Have fun playing!
Great socks!! Have fun one your day off!!! 😉
I love the spiraling pattern and want to knit it soon! Yours look great.
I bet there IS a niche for a gluten-intolerant sleuth.
