Knitting Update
I finally finished my Sockamania July Serpentine Socks on Saturday! (Why, yes, that’s after the July 31 “deadline” and well after the end of the Tour de France…)
I knitted the socks from Sundara sock yarn (Lenten Rose colorway). I used 80 stitches instead of 68, adding my extra stitches in the stockinette columns between the paired cables. The stockinette columns looked too wide and plain after I added the extra stitches, so I added left and right twists down the middle of each stockinette column to increase the visual interest.
“Oh, big kitty, I see what Mom’s talking about. It really does help.” -Mayhem
“Whatever, Mayhem! Like you have any clue what she’s talking about.” -Chaos
“Hmph. The big kitty didn’t have to be so mean! I’ll show him!” -Mayhem
“MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! The big kitty was mean to me!!!!!!!!!!” -Mayhem
Hee hee…like I don’t hear that all the time!
Very nice socks, and I like the design feature! But, it doesn’t look that “Rose” to me – Lenten Rose, huh?
Scary! That May can look fierce!
Pretty! Are we now finishing the black tank top or starting a lacy, black cardi 😉
We LOL’d on the last caption!
I don’t know what she’s talking about either, May.
Applause for your finished Serpentines! They look great.
Nice Socks ! I have to sya they don’t look very rose to me either 🙂
Nice socks!
Lenten rose is a common name for a hellebore. Although they are often rose-pink, their flowers are also sometimes purplier, tending toward that yarn.
LOL – love the cat captions today! Nice socks, too!
Your socks turned out great – did you add ribbing to the top of the leg?
The socks came out great, and I like the color. I love Lenten Roses, but that’s a new color for me. I used to have some pretty maroon ones, though.
Snort…he, he…giggle…gaffaw!!!
Nice socks;-)
Yay for finished socks. They look spiffy, I like the mods. : ) (And funny captions/pictures, too.)
OMG. YES. They do it all the time….
“Momma, She HIT me…” (this from The Meezer, after the Calico has stung her with her fierce right hook! AGAIN…)
(sigh)
ROFLOL! May…you’ve got it down pat…And those teeth! WOW…
(Hey, Chris, great socks, btw…)
But it IS all about the cats, right?
(((hugs)))
What I hear is “Mom – he hurt my feelings!” That’s big around here this weekend!
hhahahah love the last picture, sounds like a caption Moose would use for Sock hhehe
Great socks!
LOL at the last picture! I never hear that, nope never. 😉
Nice socks!
Twisted stitches … good idea.
PS – Those cats are too damn cute! And nosy too …
Cute kitties. Makes me miss my black kitty.
The socks look great! And love the sock blockers.
I LOVE your socks. The kitty telling on the other one photo reminds me of my girls. Any time you hear a sentence start with “Mo om” pronounced with two syllables you know that someone is about to be ratted out. Mayhem and Chaos are so darned cute though that it would be diffecult to be annoyed at their tattling.
Macro shot! Macro shot! Want!
And the catchen with their catchenal antics? Hee hee hee. Gee that might happen around here…..
I’m sure May really does understand. In any case, I wouldn’t dare blow her cover with Big Kitty! Heh-heh…
there there not-so-little-kitty…. Chaos was only trying to keep his readers informed 🙂
Tell Mom her socks look pretty (even to those of us who have no idea what she means! hah!)
Pretty socks!
Sounds like summers over and it’s time for those cats to go back to school. Oh, wait, cats don’t go to school.
Love the sock blockers! What a good color choice! LOL
Ha, great fang pic! I can see the pattern now in the socks – I hadn’t really caught that before in the in-progress shots!
Beautiful socks! That mean big kitty, LOL.
You’re tricycle beat mine! I’ve got to finish the last heel tonight and send them off.
Congrats on finishing the socks! I finished mine on Saturday too!
What a tattle tale (tail:)) Mayhem has become!
Your socks look great; I never even started my July socks. Must do better or I’ll be kicked out.
I keep “threatening” Ms.Kitty with a kitten friend but I don’t think she’s very happy with me about it. My husband would have a fit.. but these Mayhem pictures make it so hard to not want another cat!
Very nice! I like your additions 🙂
tell May to stop being such a tattle-tale!
How DO you manage to get those pictures? I can’t get my kitties in focus more than 1 in 10 times!
Typical little sister.
It’s not whether you win or lose it’s that you finish the race. Or is it how you finish the race? Whatever. The socks look good! I like Naomi’s horticultural explanation about the hellebore colors too.
Congratulations for finishing the socks!
Good on you May! Don’t take that big brother abuse!
So. How do you handle it when she tattles on Big Kitty? (hehe) Nice socks by the way.
Oooh- pretty socks! At least you’re closer to the time the TDF actually finished than I will be!
How do you get Mayhem to scream “MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!” on que like that? (wink wink)
I can never hear “Serpetine!” without thinking of Alan Arkin and Peter Falk in the original In-Laws movie….
Lenten Rose. That’s a cool name! Makes me think of Catholics and lentils and roses all at the same time.
Oh poor little May! (tell her to just have a stiff drink and drool on the big kitty). I just reviewed a proposal for research on serpentine in Maine!
Very pretty socks!!
I think Chaos is just jealous of May’s knitting knowledge! And the socks look great!
I love those socks!!
Poor May, she’s always getting picked on. You know we all love you.
Love the socks!
Possibly completed after the TdF finished but you’re not the Lanterne Rouge! I’m saving that honour for myself! (Finished all the knitting, just couldn’t be bothered seaming up the darn thing!)
Congratulations on finishing! Those two crack me up!
I just love the shot of Mayhem’s paw on the sock. She sure is territorial about *her* socks lol!
