The Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River collapsed during tonight’s evening rush hour. I didn’t even know what was happening until I got an email from Knitnana asking if I was ok…
Thank you to everyone who emailed me – I know that my family is ok, and I hope that my friends are, too. (Just talked to Jeanne, so I know she’s ok.)
Phew! Just came over to email you. Hope no one you know is involved. Take care.
So glad you and Jeanne are both in a safe place. Listening to this on online radio right now.
I stopped by to email you, too. Glad you’re okay.
Whew! That’s one to cross off the list…
Oh, how scary! I hope everyone or at least most people are okay!
WHEW! I’m really glad to hear from you.
Shocking and terrible! Glad you Jeanne and Amy are okay.
Thank goddess! I just sent you an email. I knew it was irrational but I couldn’t help myself!
Oh, my! Hope they rescue everyone involved quickly!
Thanks for posting. You were the first person I worried about when I saw the news. What an awful thing – I hope they can rescue everyone.
I’m so glad you and Jeanne are okay. So far we’ve accounted for most of the people we know in the Twin Cities.
The news is starting to break here in Oz. Glad to hear that you are alright.
You were the first person I thought of when I read about it. Glad to see you’re ok.
That’s crazy! I hadn’t even heard about it. I’m glad you’re safe.
Glad you & yours are OK. xo
I think the story was getting alot of hits because I wasn’t able to load it when I initially tried to. Glad to hear you are ok! What a disaster!
Well, I just saw the story (but didn’t read it. Honestly when someone in your family has just died the last thing you (or I really) want to read is more death and distruction)
BUT I’m very glad you’re safe!!
Glad you’re okay.
Not irrational at all to worry. We get so close online and some of us even get to meet eventually.
I’m sooo glad you’ve been able to touch base with so many really close to you, Chris – sending the whole city prayers and …
((((((((((Hugs))))))))))
I didn’t know you lived in that area – but when I read Sallee’s post, I just had to come over and tell you how relieved I am –
Wow! Glad to hear you are ok. Now I just have to wait to hear back from my friend. I know she’s bound to be ok, but it will still be reassuring to hear from her.
Glad you posted to say you were ok.
Holy moley ~
I didn’t hear anything about it (i am in my companies little world at work until 830) until i read your note. I am so glad you are ok, all the other people I know around there are currently on vaca so i know they are good. I will be saying a prayer of thanks for that tonight.
I’m good over here too! I thought of you first and picked up my cell phone to call and thought “Now that’s just dumb”. Then Amy called and told me she’d heard from you and I felt much better. Thanks for the update on Jeanne too!
Thank goodness – what a terrible tragedy.
Glad to hear you are safe!
So, so scary.
Thanks for letting us know that you are safe.
I just learned about this from a friend in Brainerd and was looking at some of the video footage. I think I last crossed that bridge over the Christmas holidays when we were out there visiting, but scary, scary to contemplate.
phew.
Omg. Omg. I ran over here to see if you were OK. I almost didn’t read your post. SO glad you weren’t on or near that bridge! ((HUG))
Good to hear.
We are all in once piece here as well, though there was a brief panic when DH could not be found or reached. The cell phone lines were flooded with calls.
AGH! I wasn’t aware you lived there! My friend just returned from a job interview in Minneapolis—wonder if the job comes through if he’ll take it after this? Glad you are all right!
Oh, good! I just heard – that’s what I get for listening to CDs instead of the radio while driving to Des Moines! How scary, though…
I just saw Deb’s candlelight post and that’s the first I’d heard of this tragedy. Incredible. Glad you’re safe.
Oh, thank goodness!
I didn’t hear about the bridge collapse until the 11:00 news came on (I spent all afternoon reading HP7) and my first thought was of you. What a horrible accident. I’m glad to see you are safe.
I didn’t know you were near there! I’m glad you and your family are ok, and I hope no one you knew was on that bridge. (((hugs)))
So scary, so glad you’re okay.
Gives me the chills. I’m sending positive thoughts for everyone.
Thank goodness! I just emailed you so you can just ignore that. I am so glad you are ok.
Yep – me too, had to come over here and check on you. Wow…so scary, so sad.
Glad you are ok!
So glad you and all your folks are ok. I woke up to the news just half an hour, it sounds horiffic!
thank you for letting us know you’re ok. just got up this morning and saw the news and was nervous and worried.
So glad you’re OK – you were my first thought when I heard the news.
I’m so glad to hear from you and know that you re ok. I hope that the same is true of all your friends. I know I’m going to spend the day tracking down people I haven’t thought of in years.
Glad to hear you’re safe. I thought of you immediately.
Oh, phew!!!! I’d been worried all morning! OK, you can ignore my e-mail!
🙁
Oh my god, I feel like such an ass. I read about this last night, and even talked to my dad about it, but for some reason I only cottoned on to MISSISSIPPI. I know it’s the Mississippi RIVER, not the STATE, but I heard Mississippi and just assumed, stupidly, that it happened in Mississippi.
See, that’s one of the downsides of being Canadian. Even though the young, budding Canucks learn more about US history and geography in school than Canadian, it just doesn’t stick.
*sigh* I’m glad you’re okay.
