Brenda tagged Mayhem for the seven (or eight) things meme. I know, I know – lots of people have tagged me. I’m sort of meme-adverse and I’ll just apologize in advance to anyone who tags me. But Brenda made a very good point that I have 100 Things about me, 25 Things about Chaos, and even 5 weird things about Chaos… and nothing for May! Oh dear. Bad kitty mom.
1. Mayhem is a chewer. Chew chew chew. Fortunately, she doesn’t chew on power cords (much) and has only chewed on books that I own. I’m pretty sure that the library frowns on fang holes in paperback covers…
2. Mayhem believes herself to be the dominant kitty around here. Chaos does not agree. There are some rather spectacular disagreements about this. None of these disagreements has changed her mind.
3. Mayhem likes to sprawl froglike underneath the kitchen chairs. I think it looks like she’s been squashed.
4. Mayhem has the softest fur I’ve ever petted. Her tummy is particularly soft. This results in me snatching her up to rub her tummy more often than Mayhem feels is appropriate.
5. Mayhem doesn’t purr very often. She purred a lot when she was a wee kitten, but at some point she started to only purr when “nursing” from Chaos. Since Chaos has her mostly “weaned,” she rarely purrs anymore. This makes me sad.
6. Mayhem likes to be near me and almost always follows me around to see what I’m doing.
7. Mayhem is fascinated by water. She likes to lounge about in the bathroom sink. (Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep a white bathroom sink free of black fur when you have a sink kitty?!) Sometimes she falls into the shower with me. She doesn’t stay long!
8. Mayhem is indefatigable when playing fetch and her favorite fetch toys are little furry mice that rattle. None of her mice have tails – she either eats the tails off (see #1) or I cut the tails off so as not to add to tail collection in her stomach!

The kitchen chair picture reminds me of those tree decorations where it looks like the witch’s broom malfunctioned and she crashed.
Until now, I have only seen dogs lay stretched out like that, May! You’re quite a character. 🙂 But you share a name with my daughter, so you must be OK. 😉
I love the sprawled-under-the-chair pic. It looks so incredibly relaxed and boneless in that way only cats seem to manage.
Mayhem now does memes… and the world is suddenly a nicer place.

I love to chew things too! Mostly plastic. Mmmmmm plastic. But I don’t get into this whole catnip thing, sorry.

9. Mayhem’s favorite “non-mom” human friend is Deb. She has a REALLY big knitting bag that Mayhem can fit inside of and not be found.

My aunt used to have a cat that actually loved water. Once after we had washed the car, the cat came out and actually laid down in the puddle.

HA-ha! My Hooterbear has always been a chewer – she loves phone cords! I have the mama ears – so I would wake up when she started chewing and throw pillows at her – I broke a few bedside lamps that way.
Do either of your cats make the “Proud Hunter” Mrao? We used to have a kitty door and lived near an open field. Hooter would come in (middle of the night)and I could hear her loud, open mouthed (because there was a mouse or a chipmunk in her mouth) MRAOW..MRAOW…MRAOW. It would wake me out of a dead sleep because I knew she was bringing a dead or a nearly dead critter into my house. One morning I walked into my bathroom to see a chipmunk trying to jump out of our clawfoot bathtub.
Also? My dog does that frog pose – it’s just as funny when it’s giant-sized.
Both of my cats are really, really loud purrers (which when said aloud really sounds funny). Bowie likes to either sleep on my STBX’s head or on my shoulder, with my arm in her paws. Ziggy sleeps on top of the gihugic cat tree and purrs from above. So it’s like a big home entertainment theater but the theater only plays purring in stereo.
I forgot all about the nursing from Chaos! hee hee

Too bad she doesn’t purr more. Some cats just don’t purr that much, although it might have been wiser on her part to give up on the chewing as she grew older and maintain the purring. Just something to think about, Mayhem!
It’s nice to learn a little more about Mayhem. Carmen also likes to hang out in the bathoom sink – IN the sink. We find her lying in the oddest places. We swear she just gets these fits of “tired” and lies down wherever she happens to be at the moment.

Clearly you need to replace that bathroom sink with a black one. Just think how avant garde and chic it will be 🙂

Heh heh kitty butt. Miss Lulu has some of the same exact habits, from her prone positions to the water issues, and always folowing me around to see what I’m doing.
Neither of my parents’ cats purr. We think one of them might actually be mute, as she never meows or makes any noise at all.

my cat is a chewer too – and a water kitty! he and may seem to have a lot in common. he likes to sit on the edge of the shower while i’m showering and lick the water off the shower wall – and he falls in sometimes too. so graceful! 😀
We had a water cat too – he used to come on the boat with us and even jumped in for a swim a few times! He used to love to get in the bath, unfortunately while someone was in it! I love Mayhem’s meme answers – thanks!

I love the frog-legged picture! Why is it that most animals have soft underbellies? I think that’s where you get the good stuff from sheep and alpacas?

Duff nurses on a stuffed tiger (both kneeding and suckling). He tried to nurse Jazz when we first got him, but she just dragged him around until he fell off.

I lost both my precious cats in 2005. Both Jaxon and Mickie would start to purr if I even looked at them. My Pumpkin is not such a purring cat, much like Mayhem but he does have his moments when he purrs so hard his whole body quivers!
Does she like to drink water from the faucet? I really enjoyed reading all about her! That’s funny that she’s still trying to be the cat-in-charge. I’m sure Chaos will continue to set her straight on that.
