The new issue of Yarnival is up! Check it out – as usual, it’s filled with wonderful writing and linkage. My non-knitting readers might want to bookmark this guide to knitblog lingo. 😉
Recently, Brigitte posted about her black not-quite-a-kitten-anymore Gandalf stealing magnets off the fridge. It was fun to see her magnet and fridge art collection, so I thought I’d share mine.
I think my fridge art tells you a lot about me. You might notice that I’m fond of black cats, if you hadn’t guessed by now. I’m also fond of bicycles, knitting, coffee, and Minnesota Public Radio’s The Current.
Chaos likes to lurk on top of the fridge. (Remember when he was stalked by the zucchini?!) In his youth, he would also knock magnets off the freezer door from on top the fridge, but he doesn’t do that anymore.
(Remember, you can click on these pictures to make them larger and examine things more closely.)
There aren’t any magnets within two feet of the floor, because both Chaos and Mayhem like to steal them (particularly glass bead photo magnets) off the fridge…
Not much stuff on the sides of the fridge (some business cards, phone number and address of the emergency vet, etc), but this postcard and some of the magnets are worth a peek.
“Hmph. I was not ever afraid of a vegetable. I don’t know what you’re going on about.” -C
HI! Number one!
You’ve got very cool magnets. I’m shocked, however, at the liking of the black cats. I never would have pegged you as a cat lover. 😉
Nice magnets 🙂 Chaos wouldn’t like it in our conservatory – I’m going to try and grow cucumbers….
Hee hee! I love your Chococat magnets, he’s always been my personal favourite (what? So I like Hello Kitty…).
Chaos, Atticus is afraid of the Swiffer.
What kind of bike to you have? Love love love my Trek!
It’s amazing how alike cats and kids can be. My kids steal my magnets.
Where do you find all those cool magnets?! My fridge is boring … just things I have to remember and fingerprints 😉
hee hee.. that zucchini post still cracks me up!
Zucchini. I always knew they were up to something. :o)
I have that Black Cat print framed up at our cabin – very elegant.
I think you like black catchen and magnets thereof a wee tiny bit.
My refrigerator? Blank. Heh.
Sounds like a memory problem there, Chaos, old buddy. You’d best get yourself into Mom’s archives and check out that footage of you with your tail bristled out from the Twin Cities to Spokane.
What? No crochet butterfly fridgies?? LOL, me either.
I love magnets and when several went missing I looked under the appliances, etc. No luck…and I have no pets so…where’d they go? At last parent conferences…Drama Queen #3 opened her locker and there were her favorites, plucked from the fridge to decorate the inner door of her locker. Mystery solved. 🙂
Chris- Your fridge magnets really do tell alot about your personality. The black cats are great.
I love Anne Taintor- “She had made yet another wise shopping decision”. Hysterical!
Kitten-Chow is a Meow Mix man, and tends to stay away from veggies.
Love the Ann Taintor magnets. She’s one of my favorites! My fridge is blank at the moment due to house staging, but I normally have lots of kitty things too. 🙂
Beware Chaos, I’ve spotted zucchinis in my local food co-op. “They’re back….”
I love all the fridge magnets. We’ve got a lot too. The kids like to play with them.
I’m going to dress up like a zucchini tonight and scare the crap out of my cats.
Sometimes magnets look messy but yours look very well organized and neat.
Our fridge is covered mostly on the freezer with pictures of kids-actually this is totally covered! Some magnets here and there, magnets on the lower door holding kid drawings. When the girls’ brother Sid visits, he would immediately go for a thin wooden skull and crossbones that ds painted black. Sid is taller than the girls, so the pirate magnet moved to the freezer. Then it kept falling off, so ds tossed it. But we have more of the wood slips, he can make another! Stalked by a zucchini! Ha! What would happen with a celery stalk? Stalked by a stalk?
Great magnets! And excellent taste in black cats. I buy frig magnets as souvenirs on our travels as they are small and often have pretty good pictures on them.
I believe you, Chaos!
Your fridge makes me jealous! My landlord left me her super nice stainless steel fridge, and I was all excited to put stuff onto it, only to find out that magnets don’t stick to the front! What kind of metal front fridge doesn’t hold magnets? I think it’s fake! So my magnet collection is relegated to the side of the fridge…
Stainless steel fridge – no magnets stick to it! I think Mr. did it on purpose to avoid just this sort of scenario!
awww you have the card I sent you up there, cool!
I love it! Moose would have a canary if I had any more than the pictures I have now on it but I like it, makes it interesting every time you go to the fridge.
LOL I didn’t know cats liked magnets!
You always have the best links!
Hey, I’ve got the same yarn-and-needles magnet, but it’s on my car!
LOL, um, well, sure, right Chaos. It’s ok really, my hubby thinks zucchini is frightening too. The first time I made steamed zucchini (w/ lots of pepper and salt and butter mmmm) he spit it out and said, “That doesn’t taste like zucchini bread!”
LOVE your magnets!! That looks sooo cool.
Oreo also knocks the magnets off of my frige… usually around 3:00am. Brat.
I love magnets. Unfortunately my husband has an adversion to them. So I have very few. Sad. Although if I did have a bunch, they would have to be up high to be put out of Abner the Great’s reach.
That is one wicked magnet collection. I am SO envious. I used to have a nice set myself. Then I moved and didn’t have a fridge. Now I have a fridge and I can’t find the magnets. Life definitely has a sense of humor.
We had a plastic walled fridge!
Now we have a normal fridge and a very poor collection of magnets – yours is much better!
I’m guessing that black cats are a big part of your life…just by looking at your fridge I mean. (Okay. I’m just being a smartass here.)
Hmm, nice idea. I think I’ll post fridge pictures, too….
I love seeing your fridge art. I don’t have much of anything on my fridge. I’ll have to remedy that. I remember watching an episode of some room make over show and the designer thought stuff on the fridge was terrible. Hmph! Get over yourself, I thought. It’s fun, and convenient, too!
You have cool magnets! Our fridge magnets are kind of dull. Well except the panic button magnet comes in handy sometimes. I had no idea you had this thing for black cats though. 😉
d00d, Chococat rules!
hehheh…morgan perches atop the fridge and tosses the magnets off the freezer door, too. isis awaits far below as if the pope were going to appear and toss flowers into the plaza.
hours of entertainment.
i just posted a wee pic of chococat today…and got a Hello Kitty pencil in a pkg from my SP (and this after my Hello Kitty bonanza yesterday). is it something in the air?
and tell chaos to brace himself: it’s almost zucchini season again. (and just when you thought it was safe to go back on top of the fridge…)
seeing the postcard I sent to you on your fridge totally made my day Chris.
O, Chris, I’m so envious of your gorgeous fridge. Ours was covered in kid drawings and special notes and magnets, but the realtor said we had to take it all down to show the house. I’m just a little bitter. 🙂
Equal believer in the personal revelation factor of fridge decor. In fact, I always hope that visitors will take a good look at mine. Will try to remember to take a photo… if, that is, I can find the camera cable I brought to work that promptly disappeared in the wilderness of cables for all the new tech we have showing up a little later than we needed it (creating the need to bring a camera from home).
I think I need to take a deep breath.
Thanks for linking to my article in Yarnival! I’m glad to see it’s useful to some people.
Great idea, the photo of the magnets on your fridge. I might swipe the idea when I get my camera back…
I like that cherry spoonbridge magnet you have. : )
I love all your black-cat stuff! (Big surprise, right?)
I always thought I was in the minority of having unusual fridge magnets. I’m glad to see I’m in good company!
