Ding, dong, the espresso maker…

…turns on! Woot-woot! All is well. Apparently, my espresso maker wasn’t dead, merely on strike until it was thorougly cleaned and decalcified. *hangs head in shame* Amusingly, I was so freaked out that it didn’t work yesterday morning, I completely forgot that I have a stovetop espresso maker for just such a crisis… Moving right along!

Through the Loops and Olga are having a birthday contest to celebrate that they turn 45 within days of each other. You can leave a comment at one or both blogs, identifying each of them from the baby pictures. Leave your comments by 11:59 pm (PDT? PST? EDT? EST?) on April 14 for your chance to win yarn and chocolate.

In the midst of my groggy day yesterday (even though I did stop for a moosed soy mocha, no toppings, on the way to work), I got fun mail – my Nana Sadie Rose Posy Sock Sack arrived! This is a really cool bag – it’s padded and very sturdy (even somewhat freestanding), with a shoulder strap and pockets inside to anchor a scissors, pencil, needles, etc. It’s about 10″ tall (everything looks small with Chaos in the picture). Looks like there’s plenty of space for a pair of socks-in-progress, along with keys, cellphone, and wallet. Thank you very much, Knitnana – I love it and can’t wait to use it! (You can email Knitnana to get your own Posy Sock sack.)

“Hmm, it isn’t a sock, so I guess I can relax my tuna and catnip rule. After all, there are cats on it.” -C

“*mumble*…pockets…*mumble*” -C

“Ok, ok, I’ll pose nice with the bag…” -C

“Can I go play now?” -C

  1. ROFLOL! I LOVE the shot with Chaos’ head in the Sack!!!
I’m so glad he (more or less) approves!!! tee hee…yes, Chaos, you may go play now!

Thank you for sending the yarn you couldn’t use! I was delighted to exchange for one of the very first Posy Sock Sacks…and think your choice of fabric was “purrrrfect!”
    Enjoy it!!
    (((Hugs)))

  2. Chris- I must admit, I’m a sucker for a nice bag, and I have alot of gorgeous handbags that I use all the time.

But when it comes to knitting, I’ve been toting around this filthy Hello Kitty Bag, looking like a twerp. Clearly, I need to honour my hobby/profession.

You have the coolest stuff- as well as the coolest cats.

  3. That’s so funny. But thanks for the reminder…I haven’t cleaned and decalcified the Caffeine Machine in way too long.

  4. I love the bag. Glad your expresso is working, I know what it is like not to have my MANY cups of coffee. It is not a pretty sight to behold.

  5. Oooo, I love the fabric of that bag!

I keep thinking I’d like to get a stove top espresso maker, but DH keeps talking about what a mess it was and how it didn’t work (his sister gave him one in college I guess). I’d like to think it is operator error or a poor choice of maker. I take it that yours works well? Any suggestions on what to look for or a specific brand or tips for using one?

  6. Whew, that was a close call with the espresso maker. If anything throws me out of my routine in the morning, I’m lost.

LOL at Chaos with his head in bag. Nice sock bag!

  7. Good gracious! I hadn’t seen that picture of Chaos and the wine bottle before. Are you sure he isn’t a jaguar?!

The bag is great! I love the fabric!

  8. That fabric is spectacular. But the ‘tude Chaos is giving when he realized there was nothing tasty in the bag for him? Priceless.

  9. Glad to hear the caffiene is free flowing again. I was worriend about your co-workers, and the cats for that matter. Sweet bag too!

  10. I think Chaos has grown to expect that every time you get mail he will also get mail. That’s why he looks inside everything. I mean look at that disgruntled expression on his face. He is clearly not pleased! Where is his fan mail??

  11. So glad to hear about the resurrection of your espresso maker. Chaos looks terribly handsome next to the bag. Very cool bag by the way.

  12. What a lovely cat-hat! Hehe

I think Chaos and Mayhem are the Vanna White’s of your blog. They get to model everything for your adoring readers. I wonder if I could train my dogs to do that? They might chew on the stuff instead.

  13. You mean espresso makers need cleaning??? Mine is only three months old; I’m glad I read your blog. I use only filtered water and I clean the exterior and filter holder regularly. But the innards?? never. Your kitty is very cute. Does he also like espresso??

  14. Oh, thank heaven the espresso maker was salvaged! What a horrific ordeal. People do not want to see me minus my caffeine intake.

Cute bag! Cuter Chaos. He looks a little disgruntled there were no kitty treats in the pockets.

  15. cats on bags, cats in bags, cats under bags…rotfl

and you’re right, chaos dwarfs pretty much everything.

i love the cat pattern on the sock sack. very cool.

broken espresso maker (even on temporary strike) equals major crisis. we have a drip coffee maker and a coffee urn in addition to our espresso maker, but when the thing went on strike (um, ours WAS broken) you should’ve seen me frantically searching out the stove-top espresso maker i was convinced i had *somewhere*.

it was nowhere to be found; didn’t survive the move, mayhaps? we rushed out for a new one, pronto… must….have…espresso……

  16. Do you hate me if I admit that I don’t drink coffee in the mornings? That’s a cool bag, I didn’t realize knitnana and Nana Sadie Rose were one and the same, very cool. And your crazy striped socks are awesome!
