Linkity still in shock that it’s December already

New releases: Smart Bitches (romance, queer romance), Book Riot (YA, best out this week)

Linkity from Smart Bitches.

On Edmund and the Turkish delight.

“Ok what next” (the looming edition).

On Harris tweed.

Knitting is the perfect stim.

Scientists built a tiny DNA ‘hand’ that grabs viruses to stop infections“.

Hot cocoa marshmallow sandwich cookies.

Nice MCM.

Decent late MCM, but there’s a living area that desperately needs a railing.

Extremely funky late MCM.

Time capsule late MCM with all the worst bits of the era remaining.

Lovely little houseboat.

I can’t even imagine what this would cost in the Bay area.

Cool, if a bit too ornate for me.

Really nice late Victorian, but the new owner is going to have to refinish all the floors before moving in.

Is it just me, or does this house seem to be having some sort of identity crisis?

Has the most oversized bedroom and a funky tropical bathroom that doesn’t really go with the rest of the place.

I like the house, but the attached bar and restaurant – not so much.

Over the top.

Off the grid earthship.

Don’t think I’ve seen a fish tank like that before. There’s probably a reason for that.

No partially submerged bedrooms for me, thanks.

Converted church comes with its own cemetery.

Yikes.

Ouch.

Not the worst we’ve seen.

Perhaps not.

Snuggling siblings. (Love the air of faint menace Harry’s managing there.)

What does Polly see outside?!

Harry on the couch, wearing his skully bow tie.

  1. The hubby used to have a nice Harris tweed jacket. Interesting to read about it!

First 2 MCMs are quite lovely. Funky is a definite no, and the late MCM hurts me.

Ornate is very ornate. Yikes. Great fireplace and doors, tho.

Oh wow, that Victorian is amazing.

Oversized bedroom house is totally whack-a-doodle. But I want the yard lion.

I really like the aquarium house. I guess if you don’t like to maintain aquariums, you could have it filled in with acrylic and fake fish. ;^D

  2. I am one of the people who has enjoyed the gelatinous cube version of Turkish delight. (I would LOVE to try the “real” stuff. It looks amazing.) But! I really love the addition of the second and third things added to the bottom of that post. Because YES. It’s one thing to say “this is good candy.” It’s another thing to say “this is good candy, and here’s a kid who has been deprived of all sweet things due to a horrible war and feels neglected.” There’s so much more to the Turkish Delight stuff in Lion/Witch/Wardrobe than just candy.

That is very cool about Harris Tweed! I didn’t know any of that.

I LOVE the “okay, what next?” thread. So good.

That NanoGripper thing is amazing. How on Earth did someone come up with the idea to just grab viruses to stop them from infecting people?

You found some truly cursed stairs (and ladder) this week!

I do not want a fish tank for my hallway. I do not want a submerged bedroom (unless I’m on a boat, and maybe not even then). And the answer to “how expensive would this house be in the Bay Area?” is VERY.
