This post not suitable for those sensitive to Addis in peril

Sorry for anyone who was worried that I didn’t post yesterday! I coughed most of Monday night, so when the alarm went off Tuesday morning, I called work, said I’d be in at noon, and went back to sleep. Much better!

Mim needs a name for her new camisole pattern – if your name is selected, you could win yarn, some soap, and one of Mim’s patterns!

Heather is helping to raise money for books for an impoverished South African school, which is the sister school to the Montessori school Heather’s daughter attends. If you pledge $20, Heather will send you a skein of her hand-dyed All Things Heather sock yarn. If you pledge $25, she will dye special yarn for you. But really, any amount will help. Deadline is March 19.

The polls are open in La’s DeFeet of Cuteness contest. So hard to decide! So many cute feet! Polls close March 9 at 5 pm PST.

I finished my Jailbreak Jaywalkers. True, true, they aren’t quite finished in the pictures, but they’re finished now and waiting for a little bath.

“Those are some pretty crazy socks, Mom!” -M

The sock on the left was knit from the outside of the ball of Opal Zebra. The sock on the right was knit from the center. Who knows if that led to the dramatic difference in the cuffs between the two socks! These socks definitely grew on me as I was knitting them, especially when I discovered the dramatic changes adding a few stitches made – the feet were knit on 72 stitches and I increased to 84 for the cuffs.

“Let me just sneak in here and work my magic on this yarn…” -M
*sound of shooing off-camera*

“Hmph, if you’re going to shoo me away, I’ll go after the ball itself.” -M

“Sheesh, Mom, you leave me no choice but to go after the needle!” *chomp* -M
*sound of shrieking off-camera*

  1. Heh – Is Mayhem well-trained to go after anything in the camera’s point of view? just kidding. Sorry you weren’t feeling well – a day of rest sounds like it was just the prescription (and maybe some sock knitting and kitty snuggling too!)

  2. Shriek indeed. Alfie hasn’t found the Addis unprotected yet.

And I must say, I feel much better about you as a person now that you’ve come around on the Zebra sock yarn. Good to see. :o)

  3. *gasp* May! Stop it! Drop it! Drop. It. Now! Stop being a goof!

(Sheesh, I feel like I’m talking to Gandalf!)

{{{hugs}}} Hope you’re feeling better! And I love your funky socks, I think I’m going to pull out my tiger print yarn next pair of socks I make.

  4. Chris- I am WAY too anal about matching (something to do with being a twin?) to allow the socks to do what they do.
    I hope you do.

Another theory proved- lay needles (expensive ones) on the floor, and the cats come running.
    Glad you’re feeling better.

  5. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – …..
Oh, sorry, I was hypnotized by your socks. They remind me of the painting that Dali did for Spellbound. Very cool.

I hope the snow is melting and you’re feeling a little better.

  6. Definitely look more jailbird then zebra.

uh oh May, ADdi’s are precious! and that first picture, May just looks like a big black ink blob on your carpet. ARe you sure that’s her, and not an ink blob.

  7. the sound of shrieking off camera, as you snap a close up picture? Danger likes the wire of addi’s too, doesn’t seem to hurt the addis or the kitty. 🙂 those ARE some crazy like socks!

  8. I hope you are feeling much better today. It was a bit heart wrenching looking at that addi being chomped!

    Your socks look really fun!

  9. Those are some crazy socks! I actually prefer the one on the left that pooled more. The righty looks too regular. Jaywalkers are the best (says she who has only tried 2 sock patterns!)

  10. Must have been a bitey night! Last night Rufus, of biting thru polycarbonate sunglass lens fame, and clear thru my ear in two places fame (oops sorry momma), bit and entire part off my portable DVD player during movie time! Chomp.

    Zebras came out extra cool!

  11. I love the Opal Zebra pattern. Isn’t it kind of a shame though? You have all these cool socks, but who gets to see you wear them? I mean, they go under shoes! Unless the shoes were clear. Hmmmm.

  12. My boys looove to chomp on the Turbos… They recently spoled the only unchomped ones I had. (Which begs the question… Why did you snap and not yank those needles out of her mouth??)

  13. They always know how to find our weakspots, don’t they? I bet you went running for that needle. 🙂

    Hope you feel better soon!

  14. Oh dear, May is seriously getting VERY interested in the chomping of yarn and needles…..don’t say I didn’t warn you 😉

But she looks so cute too!

Lovin those zebra socks – too cool 😉
