Chaotic Dance of the Jaywalker

Some more photos from yesterday. In the comments, some have noted that their cats don’t get to play with knitting projects. Neither does Chaos, usually. However, when I bring out some bit of knitting to photograph, things just seem to gett out of hand quickly…

Sorry about this shot, Chaos… (It shows off the spot on his tummy that doesn’t have any guard hair. I think this spot is supposed to be white, based on the stray hairs nearby.) Anyway, I’ll let him take his bow:

  1. Oooh…I’d be too worried about my little fuzzy one destroying my knitting to take pictures of him playing with it. Of course, he seems to have a penchant for destruction, so perhaps I’m overcautious.

  2. The Kitty Chaotic is not left with the yarn and needles for very long at all. It just happened so quickly! And was so cute…

He’s kind of destructive, too, starting from kittenhood. There’s still a kitten-shaped set of four small rips in the center of the accordion blinds where he clung after launching himself from the top of the elliptical… Glad I was home to snatch him off the blinds before he pulled it down or started climbing.

  3. I came home yesterday to a ball of Cherry Tree Hill wound under, around and through the coffee table, into the dining room and then the kitchen. Mason just can’t resist the good stuff!

  4. Mayeb he thought it was a cat hoodie? Terribly small hoodie at that.
Thanks for the Tilt comments. I do love it and hope, hope, hope it fits when done. Comparisons to other sweaters suggest it might. But sometimes the sweaters are prone to sweet talk you into believing anything they say!

  5. Cats are better than tv, sometimes.

Thanks for info about size 11 socks. I would have thought they’d be a bit longer. I make mine 9 in. and I wear a 7.5 shoe. But then, I have a high instep, so maybe that uses up some of the length?

  6. Hickmama – Maybe. I think it depends on how you like your socks to fit – how much negative ease makes them feel right. I just measured my foot, and it’s about 10.5″ long.

  7. Wow…you are seriously braver than I, but then, 99.9% of my needles are bamboo, and don’t stand up to kitty teeth in the least. They now have their very own US 2 Addi Natura that they are allowed to play with while someone is around to watch.

I put the present for Chaos in my knitting gadget bag, and the troops are now spending more time than usual digging into my gadget bag. I’m afraid that my pink Chibi case is in danger.

  8. Chaos’ tummy spots remind me of my other cat, Company. Company was Misery’s sister and she had a bad habit of pulling out her hair. A lot of it. So by the time she hit the big litter box in the sky, she was absolutely bald from her mid-section on.

  9. ok. i know why i don’t have pics of my cats playing with my yarn. I can not believe you sat their documenting the Chaos!! I would’ve freaked, dropped the camera, and been yelling at Danger and Cosmo. You’re very very brave.
and he’s very very cute, even when being naughty.

  10. 🙂 Chaos is adorable, and apparently completely unselfconscious. My second oldest cat Dorian has the same bare patch, by the way!

I came home from work one day to find a looooong trail of laceweight yarn leading from my WIP basket all the way to the other end of the house. And three cats sitting as far away from it as possible and looking innocent.

  11. Chaos is such a Kitten! I love to see him play… from the other side of the screen.

He reminds me of a cat we used to have… his name was Vortex, and he took that to heart. We finally had to give him to a nice Farm family with a nice big relatively indestructable barn. 🙂

Katherine- The Cat used to have that hairpulling issue, and would actually then lick the exposed skin until it bled. Turned out it was an allergy to the corn products that is in nearly all kitty kibble. Once we found a corn-free kibble, her hair all grew back – she’s quite lovely now…

  12. Mama_Tulip – Great cat names – Misery loves Company? Hee hee.

Interestingly, the Chaos Kitty doesn’t pull out his tummy hair or lick excessively. The guard hair just isn’t there. His mom has a large white spot there – Chaos just doesn’t. The side effects of inbreeding, I fear.

  13. ah chaos… fully living up to his name.
so sweet, so innocent, so intruiged by bits of anything…

naps goes straight for the yarn when i break it out. if he’s not chewing it he’s lying on top of it in some way that i’m pulling it and it’s running under his back leg and up past his face.

    silly boy.

in other news… i am in the process of getting together the Island’s first SNB, which is so exciting i think i might pop. and my alien illusion scarf is coming along nicely.

  14. You could put these pics up as ‘How to trap a Cat 101″ ;o)

I’ve left small tightly-wound balls of yarn on my desk before… just going to get a cup of coffee is a risk!

My girls love the ‘I can pull this yarn through every opening in every piece of furniture I can find’ game.
