At some point last month, I got really behind in posting some things, so I’m going to try to catch up. Maybe if I get caught up with last year, I’ll feel ready to look ahead to this year.
We had our work white elephant gift exchange in early December. You will be amused at what I came home with!
TB sent me a tasty birthday/winter care package – belated thanks, TB!
My neighbor gave me a really cute little ornament that much intrigued the cats.
“Whatcha got there, big kitty?” -M
The ornament was rescued and hung out of reach.
For Christmas, I received One Skein Wonders from my brother and SIL. This book has some really cute projects in it and will probably be a lifesaver for last minute holiday and baby gifts. As an added bonus, unlike the book One Skein, all of the projects in this book actually only use a single skein of yarn. 😉 On the left are some great little knitterly cards that my other friend Deb made for me – thanks, Deb!
Eee! I’m first to comment! I also own One Skein Wonders, and I’ve made several hats so far, which you can see in my latest blog post. It’s a great book, especially for me and my very random yarn stash. Chaos and May are adorable as usual. 🙂
LOL at Chaos eating (or trying to) eat that ornament. Imagine if he *had* eaten it…he’d be dinging and donging all over the place…
Nice loot! But it seems those kitties are dropping some pretty strong hints. I hope they got some nip in their stockings!
Totally agree with May! Anything would have been better than purple bows 😉
I love how cats must sniff all new things. It’s like a compulsion.
That bell is to die for!!!!
Cool loot! Love the mug:)
The mug and plate are too cute!
Those poor kitties must be starving if they’re willing to eat an ornament!
Nice loot is right! I think the mug/plate is so cute!
It always makes me laugh the extent cats will go to “explore” something new!
Love the mug and plate. I would watch the kitties and that bell though – next thing you know they will be ringing it for service!
I agree that your new one skein book is much better than the other one.
I’ll have to check out One Skein Wonders. Looks like a cool book.
My kitty Zoe likes to ‘explore’ ornaments, too. She also enjoyed the occasional light from the Christmas tree this year! Thank goodness we didn’t have to go to the vet!
Those ornaments are completely delicious, I totally don’t blame Chaos for munching on down.
Okay, I am officially gonna burglarize your condo for that mug. Gotta have it. btw, the kitties on the mug and plate look like Kliban kitties — are they? I love his meat loaves, er, cats.
Boy I wish MY White Elephant exchange would yield such appropriate items!
And nope, kids, no squishy soft insides…or kittynip.
(((hugs)))
Very nice gifts, although May is right about the purple bow being too much. I hope Chaos and May did get a little catnip or tuna for Christmas.
Uh, oh, Big Kitty has really gotten that kitten “hooked”.
I could certainly use a one-skein wonder book. The random skeins are taking over my craft room.
Wow a one skein book t hat really only takes one skein, now that is remarkable!
Thanks for all the updates.
I’m going to have to get that book, because as you said the other one takes more than one skein.
And I thought that I was the only one who questioned the whole “one skein” theme of the other book……..WTF?
Black kitties with purple bows — what could be more appropriate?
Love the purple bow on the kitty-ware. Those would be treasures over here – of the human little girl kind. Good haul. See you tonight!
Hehe – those are atrocious! I’m looking forward to see what you knit from the one skein book 😉
Poor kitties, no cat-nip, maybe Fuzzybritches will have to send you some, along with a magnet I was going to send your mommy oh…eons ago. 😉
Fun stuff! I wonder how Chaos would look in a big purple bow? (No! Don’t bite me, Big Kitty! It’s just a joke.)
I love how your cats are always so involved with everything. Our rescued cat is of the disdainful type.
Awesome goodies! Is your whole place now in a “Kitty” theme. 🙂
I’ve been meaning to check out that book. Is it worth the purchase?
Poor catnip deprived kitties! Are they in a detox program or something? That LOVELY dishware reminds me of some kitty pins I have from the 60’s. And, around here (Maine, Massachusetts) we all call that type of gift exchange a Yankee Swap. (where everybody gets a number and goes around and can keep the gift they chose or one that was opened previously, right?). Numero uno is the best to have for this! One of our work friends hosts one of these along with a Mexican fiesta (really good food!), usually around xmas, but in Feb this year. Highlight “gifts” last year were a Mao Tse Tung lighter, a hen and chicks toy, a sand stuffed lobster toy, maybe a bottle of wine (usually is one of these), hair and a partly decomposed horn from an antelope (we took this home!…bunch of biologists, you know?). I got a total charge out of one of the ones we brought…though nobody else did. It was a box with a new (cheap) life vest, and a box of sardines, and a map of Alaska. The Alaska Cruise kit, bon voyage!
I just saw that book the other day and thought it was a great one skein book. I do like the stuff in the other skein book, but you are right, what’s up with multiple skeins for a one skein book?
Silly kitty, ceramic ornaments don’t have soft centers!
LOL at Chaos chewing on the ornament! That’s a cute mug and plate too. I’ll have to check out that book.
I’ve wondered anbout One-Skein Wonders, too. When will you have an FO to show us? 😉
Nice gifts, love the mug. I must get that book too, good to know it is actually 1 skein LOL!
ah, a book that at last delivers on its promises.
I wonder if anyone will bring out a book called 20 skein wonders? Or even use your stash for this single project!
That cup and plate set is to die for! So perfect for you, I just can’t stand it
Hm. I should check out that book, One-Skein Wonders…Cute mug!
Poor ornament. Kitties had fun though 🙂
Would you recommend One Skein Wonders? I borrowed the old One Skein from the library and didn’t like it at all. Loved Mason Dixon and Last Minute Knitted Gifts which I have.
Not sure what century our library will get this one……and it looks so good 😉
did I miss a bd in my absence from online 🙁
I’m so sorry. Happy belated.
