In which I revisit May’s youth

Kat’s having an Xtravagant Xmas photo contest – take a picture of that house in your neighborhood that’s gone beyond all out with the lights and the inflatable snowpeople and let Kat know about it (you can post your picture on your blog or email it to Kat). Entries accepted until December 26 and a winner will be selected January 1.

Sachi’s having a caption contest – leave a caption for the cute cat picture by December 11 and the caption that makes her laugh the hardest wins some of her stitchmarkers.

Wow! I was one of the winners in the Heifer International drawing at Wendy Knits yesterday, and I won a Peace Fleece Lighthouse Sock Kit from Sybil at The Skein! Thanks, Wendy and to Sybil!

You’ve all probably heard of swap-bot, but I finally decided to check it out yesterday after I saw the chocolatey goodness that Elspeth got. I’m trying out the Best Covers Mix CD Swap.

So everyone commenting on how little May was in yesterday’s pictures (from a month ago) got me all sentimental about what my baby looked like not long after she arrived here (at about three months old)…

She still had whiskers!!

“I’m a sweet little present, aren’t I?” -M

“Keeping the world safe from gift bags!” -M

“Because gift bags? They’re nefarious!” -M

And although I still think she’s tiny in comparison to Chaos, back then, she was just a wee mite! (And Chaos’ butt wasn’t yet shaved…)

“Just making sure this gift bag is safe, miss. You can’t be too careful with these things.” -C

  1. Yeah – I remember when Kate was tiny. The good news is, as May gets older and bigger, you won’t have to pay to put her through college and she’ll never ask to drive your car.

  2. Deb has a great point, that’s what I love about my dogs too. You don’t have to pay for a wedding, no expensive prom dress. Sheesh, on the other hand, my little Monkey will be hitting that age all too soon.

  3. Utterly adorable baby pictures! I talk to Sally and Willow about when they were baby kittens – and they love that voice, just sit there and stare up at me with the ‘big happy lovey eyes.’ Chaos is really glad you aren’t posting those other pictures, or very scared you are saving them for the next time he knocks stuff off the bookcase 😉

    Congrats on your contest win!

  4. Baby May is SO tiny! When I got my first dog…I wondered, what is this thing? That is covered in barn mud and hay, has a stick tail, and does NOT purr. Then I became a dog person. I still really like cats, but dh won’t have it…his mom had too many (cats and kids-8!), so it’s been dogs for us. Glad I can vicariously enjoy other people’s kitties! Somebody at LYS made these socks in brown sheep cotton fleece, they came out well. I’ve discovered that I’m a texture knitter over a color knitter, but I can appreciate other people’s color knitting! This month is so busy, xmas, new (2nd) dog, that I’m putting off swapbot until january.

  5. Kitties seem to grow overnight! One minute they’re super tiny and full of spunk and, before you know it, they’re ginormous and givin’ you attitude. I love cats!

  6. I thought of you as soon as I uploaded the latest Pointy Sticks episode – there is a contest involved! You have to listen to the show to get all the details, and it ends on 12/21. Wheee! Contest time!

  7. hee hee hee

our 3-legged football was trying to get into a box and turn around in it so she could sit with her head out–why don’t I ever think to take pics?

  8. Awwwwwwwwwww…I feel the same when I look at Serge’s kitten pictures…I can’t believe he’s gained 8 pounds in like…6 months…he’s still my little baby though…

  9. awww!!! kitties are so cute…

napoleon is coming along nicely and says hey to his friends in the south!!!
