For the readers among us, check out the From the Stacks Winter Challenge – read five books from your shelves by January 30. If you submit your book list by November 15, you’re entered in a drawing, and if you submit five reviews by January 30, you’ll be in another drawing for an amazon.com gift certificate. Here’s my list:

The Club Dumas by Arturo Perez Reverte
Like the Red Panda by Andrea Seigel
Heft on Wheels: A Field Guide to Doing a 180 by Mike Magnuson
I’m knitting self-striping sock yarn that I dyed myself and feeling very thrilled that… it actually stripes. Who woulda thunk it?? (Check it out – Frarochvia is knitting socks from some sportweight that I dyed at the same time!)
Hey! How did you do it? I’ve tried various self-striping things, but always tend to tangle myself up! It looks great! Share your wisdom please! 😉
Chris! Congrats on your self-striping! I made some a while ago to make Ali some pink and purple socks and couldn’t help but be elated by each color change. Have fun with your wicked cool socks!
yay it stripes! that’s gotta feel good to see it in action 🙂
Whoo hoo!!!
Sock twins!!!!!!!!!!!
That amuses me as much as the striping does 🙂
Gorgeous! Wow…and so’s the yarn (BIG GRIN!)
Naw…we know the kitty is gorgeous, tho’ she’s right, she really does match your yarn. But you should be bubbling-all-over proud of that dye batch!
whoohoo!
(((hugs)))
FANTASTIC! How awesome are those stripes! Ohhhhhhh I love it! Great job!
I love the pink and black stripes. Congratulations on success!
Yay for stripes!
It stripes beautifully!
Why yes, small kitty, with your tongue out you DO match the yarn.
Way to go on the stripes, Chris.
Nice job on the yarn!
> read five books from your shelves by January 30
But… three of those books are Tom Jones, Moby-Dick, and Tristram Shandy! And I’m still only halfway through Ulysses and Boswell’s Life of Johnson. Can we extend that deadline to, say, June?
p.s. Chaos seems to be camera-shy lately. Is Mr. Garbo purposely letting Mayhem take the limelight?
Thems gonna be some wild socks! Great job on the dyeing!
I just love it when a plan comes together! they’re going to be fab… will they be knee socks? or perhaps some of those cool over-the-knee socks> hmmm
Hmm . . . you’ve redecorated!
I’m playing with the “Stacks” idea . . . I do have about 27 unread books on my shelves, after all!
Congrats on the striping, it’s always nice when it works out like you hoped 🙂
That is cool self-striping! Love the colors.
Hey, I “know” that yarn – don’t I???
That looks great!
Love the yarn and matching kitty. : ) Gonna check out that link…
Very cool yarn!
My MIL is constantly worried that Hubby is going to “put his eye out”. when he was 12 he fell out of a tree, cracked his skull and ended up loosing the vision in his right eye. The 4th of July is a hoot around here. “Don’t let him do that! He’s going to put his eye out!” The man is almost 40 (ok, 38 next week) for Bob’s sake!
I caught Gandalf in the sink, playing with a knife…a blunt one, but still. I think Mae put him up to it.
Your socks look great! I love the funky stripes, they’re going to be a splash of colour this winter.
🙂
that yarn turned out amazingly! great job! And it does match the kitties
I love it when a plan comes together 🙂
LOVE THE YARN.
Love it.
Way to go on the stripping yarn! Excellent colors!
Wow! I love that! For some reason it makes me think of Pippi Longstocking….
I love, love the pink and black stripes! How fun.
I love the stripes!! Those are gonna be so cool!!
Oh, great job on the yarn! I like the stripes and the coordinating kitty.
great work on the striping yarn! I wonder if your heels will turn out like Frarochvia’s are?
Very cool! I haven’t attempted dying the striping yarn. I have enough of a challenge with a solid. 😀
Love the stripes, very punk rawk! Be careful when you’re doing the magic loop, my cats were fighting near my ML sleeve and they managed to pull a needle out! Not that Chaos and May *ever* fight;)
Thanks for the reading link, I’m in on that one. Love the socks. My fav to knit socks with is self striping.
What, only five books? Good lord, that won’t even make a dent.
Your books sound interesting. And the yarn is great!
I love self-striping yarn. Love it. Never dyed it, but still love it. Hmm, I have 2 skeins of Knit Picks Bare sock yarn. Dare I attempt it? A lazy coward, that’s me…
I’ll take that book challenge! As soon as I figure out how to add the button to my blog I’ll add it. (Typepad could use some help in its help.)
Kitty tongue and fur! Pretty yarn. And wow, it’s striping fabulously.
Heft on Wheels. I might pick that one up for my Dad.
That’s some serious black-and-pink. Yowza!
Loving that sock and the matching kitty 😉
How cool to have your own custom dyed yarn. Did you have any trouble with the dye – I’m think allergy troubles. Trust me, I don’t need no more right now……
Oooh, I love the pink & black stripes.
I love pink and black stripes too. Pretty!
I love the color combo of your dyed socks. I haven’t gotten the nerve to dye yarn yet. And as we all know… every color looks good with a black cat!
Love the socks that Frarochvia’s knitting. I’m so tempted to resume my mad experiments with yarns. *grin*
That yarn isd lov-e-ly! I’m inspired about the stacks. I have so much to read. Maybe I’ll need to put the parenting stuff down for awhile and read some fiction!
Oh ye of little faith…of course it stripes.
Wow those are some bright stripes! Congratulations.
Oooh, I love the black and pink! And yup, I signed up for From the Stacks too… now to finish what I’m already reading so I can get started.
