Anne is having another contest! She wants to see pictures of a trip to one of your local shops – and it doesn’t have to be just yarn shops. She hasn’t selected an end date, as this involves a little bit of work for people. She’s very curious about local oddities. Hmm. Probably not St Sabrina’s Parlor in Purgatory, the piercing and tattoo parlor a few blocks away…
Ahhh… My vacation continues, albeit much quieter than last week. I’m so relaxed that I didn’t blog yesterday and I don’t want to ever go back to work! 🙂 Strangely, I’m not getting as much knitting or closet organization done as I’d hoped. Oh well.
Reading Update
Witch Way to Murder by Shirley Damsgaard. Have I mentioned that I’m a sucker for books with a black cat on the cover?! So that’s why I picked up this one, about a reluctant witch and her grandmother, living in smalltown Iowa. It was a fun read.
Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris. The most recent Southern Vampires novel. Move over, Anita Blake. Sookie’s way more fun and the story moves along much less ponderously! I think I’m adding Quinn to my list of sexy fictional males…
Concourse by S.J. Rozan (cd). The second book in the series about NYC PIs Bill Smith and Lydia Chin. This series is along the lines of Marcia Muller, Sara Paretsky, etc., and is one that I will definitely continue reading (or listening to).
Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris. Not one of the Southern Vampire series, this book is about Harper, who was struck by lightning when she was 15 and can hear dead people… It was an ok read, but nowhere near as good as the Stookie books. And the hardcover was so poorly edited that it pained me to read at points – things like someone ordering French toast and bacon, and then on the facing page, conversation stopped while he waited for his eggs and toast to be set in front of him. These sort of consistent inconsistencies make it it hard for me to get into a story.
I have an FO!! I’ll wait while you all recover. 😉
This baby sweater was knit from 4.5 skeins of KnitPicks Shine Worsted, color terra cotta. The basic pattern was Knitting Pure & Simple’s neckdown baby cardigan, although I used attached i-cord for the edgings and buttonbands. The buttons are the only purchase I made during Saturday’s yarn crawl.
Can you see the silver-tipped fur on May’s front legs? She’s developing some more distinct tabby markings – I don’t think she’s going to be as black as Chaos is.
Really nice baby sweater!
But I have to ask…what is this turn of the tables? Why is CHAOS kissing May’s butt? 😉 Did she hide all the catnip?
Great baby jumper.
Chaos loves his baby sister
and
he’s ensuring that she’s a clean girl.
Enjoy whats left of your holiday,
remember,
work provides the ‘fun tickets’
to buy yarn and kitty food.
I don’t see why not – is St Sabrina’s typical of your area? (Or is it somewhere you commonly frequent?…)
Frequenting Saint Sabrinas? It is where I got a few of my tattoos. I have heard the same woman owns Psyco Suzies!
Oh my goodness…I love that first picture of May looking down at the red sweater.
Rest, rest, rest. Sounds like a good thing. Love the FO and cute kitty pics!
The sweater is adorable.
But the cats, of course, are cuter! I love the Big Brother/Little Sister shots where he’s cleaning her. Too cute!
There’s no closet organization on VACATION! :O)
Anne’s contest sounds fun…now I need to carry my camera around with me for a bit. It’ll fun to show off some quirky Portland places!
Happy Vacationing…
Cutie patootie sweater, and I love those buttons! Love the kitty pictures as always – they’re just so cute together!
Sexy fictional males….mmmmmmmmmm. I can think of a couple I wouldn’t mind running into 🙂
Wonderful sweater – it is such a fun colour! May really seems to think it’s something, but then, her Mommy made it – so it definitely is 🙂
You’re right – Chaos is much darker than May, and he is certainly a great big brother to her.
such a beautiful silver coat. Maybe May is more a sweater gal than bibs
Really, I know many siblings that could learn alot from Chaos and May. The baby cardi is too sweet.
I love the baby cardigan – I can’t believe your restraint on the yarn crawl on Saturday!
Nice baby sweater! I love the interest your cats take in your projects.
Mayhem is going to be the cleanest cat in town.
Yow! 5 skeins for a baby sweater….. And I’d been thinking about making a sweater with it…. Mmmm.
But I definitely love Chaos’s and Mayhem’s interactions! May does seem to be lightening, yes. So much for matching them! Grin.
Oooo, what an adorable baby sweater! Mayhem will look nice with some subtle tabby poking through I’m sure.
WOah.Looking at that first picture, for a second I couldn’t tell whether it was Chaos or Mayhem! And that last picture is just adorable. Chaos seems to be really enjoying taking care of May!
Aw… Look at the cute sweater with the kitty decoration on it! 😉
BTW: “If I ruled the world” has become an office favorite. Although the one after that is mine.
I was starting to worry about you after no post yesterday. I considered calling this morning to make sure you were OK and that the cats hadn’t done anything sneaky. The sweater is prosh (did I remember that correctly?)
It sounds like you’re having a successful vacation!
That’s a cute baby sweater, in spite of having a cat attached to the buttons. 🙂 May is growing fast!
What a cute cardigan! — I’ve got a niece or nephew on the way next year, and that looks just the ticket for Auntyish knitting.
Goodness, May is growing like a weed!
I know the feeling about not getting as much knitting done as you expected. After three months of unemployment, I should have made two jumpers, a shawl and about a dozen pairs of socks. Umm, yeah….
Very cute sweater, but, really, I was thinking we would see it ON one of the cats. 😉
Aw! Great sweater!
I love the Rozan books, too.
What restraint! Only buttons – I can’t imagine!
Mayhem must be the cleanest cat in Blogland!
Great Sweater! I haven’t finished anything in ages.. I’m sure everyone would fall over if I posted an FO too. Cute model!
Relaxing is good. Very good. But even better is the proof that the vet was obviously wrong about Chaos maybe needing to be an only kitty.
We’re so pleased to see the happy kitty pics! The sweater is adorable…
(((hugs)))
Very cute sweater! May looks like she is growing so fast.
What a cute baby sweater but I must say that the kitties are equally as cute!
Isn’t it fun to see how the fur changes as the kitties grow? I think it’s so interesting how black cats are really tabbies underneath. My house panther glows with her stealth stripes when she’s laying in a puddle of sunshine.
aw, those lil buttons look just like bit of green cheese! yummy!
adorable sweater…with–or without–buttons, depending on cat appetite
rotfl
What a cute sweater!
