- Outside’s list of the 16 greatest places to live in the US. (via neighborhoodr-minneapolis) (Spoiler: Duluth and Minneapolis both made the list.)
- Sage Francis wrote “Conspiracy to Riot” about the protests surrounding the 2008 Republican National Convention in St Paul, MN, but what’s happening in Ferguson reminded me of it, unfortunately. (video contains sounds and scenes of violence) (But this is a very promising development in Ferguson, finally.)
- “11 mundane objects that are statistically deadlier than sharks“. (Bednado isn’t as catchy as Sharknado, I guess.)
- Best bedroom paint colors for sleep. (It’s dark when you’re sleeping. Does the paint matter that much?)
- Which country is the right fit for you? (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada…)

- You’ve perhaps never heard of Paul Bissonnette, the NHL hockey player who pretty much won the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (a helicopter was involved). GPOY. (NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman took the challenge, too. There’s a little sidebar in the linked article on the NHL’s site that has links to even more challenges.)
Cool or Wha…?
- 11 crazy S’Mores combos. (National S’Mores Day was apparently this past Sunday.)

“….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….” -Chaos
It is always interesting to see how we live in Minnesota portrayed as it is in Outside Mag. Of course LaCrosse and houghton MI made the list, too….
Chris- That spoonbridge and cherry is amazing.
Chaos, you know how to live!
Dunno about the life index, is it supposed to tell me something cos it does not
Belly rub!
Those Pallas’ cat kittens are so adorable! The pandas, not so much.
I think I’ll come back tomorrow, my brain has left the building
I think the color of your bedroom may affect your mood in the piece of time before you turn out the light. And I love the Picard cookie!
Australia here I come!
And I think you can tell something about my age by the fact that I eagerly clicked on kmkat’s wrinkle link only to be disappointed on discovering that it is about getting wrinkles out of clothes and not off of faces. 🙂
Fondant made with marshmallows? Eeeww. I knew I didn’t like fondant for a reason.
I know, I know. I need to get writing. Thanks for the reminder, though.
It’s not always dark when I’m sleeping – sometimes Mr. Wyrm has the light on because he’s up reading. But then, my eyes are closed. So I wouldn’t be able to see the paint colors then, either. Besides – did that study switch people around and see if their sleep habits changed when the room color did? Hmmm. I am suspicious of their “science”.
Tomato soup cupcakes? You find some weird recipes.
Yeah. The drought is scary. We haven’t had a bad one in a while, but this one is really up there.
Why are all of the best places to live east of the Rockies (except for Anchorage???)? There was a time I didn’t even believe there was anything over there, being on the wast coast.
I thought the pandas were cute in a very strange way.
I love that photo of Chaos!
Candy Apple M&Ms sound nice.
I think a blue bedroom would be nice but I’m sticking with pale cream at the moment.
