The previously intended recipients (you can probably guess who you are) of this now abandoned (so lurid!) baby blanket will be pleased that I eventually came to my senses.

😉 I’m glad you came to your senses. You wouldn’t want the “baby” to blame you for all his/her problems through life because he/she had to sleep with that!
haha, you know May, that thing kinda looks like a target. i guess cat’s don’t have that sense to not ever stand in front of anything with concentric circles on it
Limedragon is right–it does look like the BSG Eye of Jupiter.
Isn’t that Chaos’ favorite yarn? It looks about the right size for a cat bed. Would he care about the colors? Once you spread a big cat on top of it, no one will see them…
Oh, come on, Kris, don’t you follow with the Battlestar “Eye of Jupiter” thing going on? I mean, the premier of the final episodes was last Friday! 😉 And just to note, I’ve never had a baby yet sit up and tell me that the item I knit them was god-awful ugly.
I think the kitties will appreciate it more and they own’t cre about the very bright colors! I have a chrochey blanket I started in 7th grade and the intended baby now has kids of her own – yikes!
My MIL drafts me into making blankets for her expecting relations and friends, but she is pretty conservative with her colors. I cannot imagine her asking me to make a blanket quite so festive and bright looking!
I agree…babies are supposed to like primary colors, and whoever mentioned Gymboree was so right. It looks like it could be a lap blanket for those little plastic cars they drive. However, I think Chaos has other ideas for its future.

Oh, it’s not…that…bad…
We’ve all had our moments too, don’t worry!
I don’t know – looks like a baby with that blanket could become superman. Or woman.
Chris-…or maybe a future Olympian Archery champ.
Did it even look good with the kaleidiscope (sp?) thing? Did you even use it? I didn’t think so!
Lurid. That’s a good word. A very good word.
It looks like…a bullseye.
I totally love it. LOL!
Chaos, you should be talking your mom into finishing it for you!
but, but, but! It totally looks like Starbuck’s mandala! There’s a special destiny at stake here!
That’s definitely a Superbaby look… yikes!
But, but, but… bright colors stimulate babies’ sense of sight and help it develop!
Well, maybe not THAT bright.

An argument might possibly be made that these colors/circles resemble Eye of Jupiter (from BSG). : )
Have you ever been into a Gymboree store? Talk about lurid colors….

What a cute blanket! (Oh, and the cat, of course…)

It’s a superpowered blanket… right?
I am all for cheerful and bright, but that might be carrying it a little too far. It does remind me of Superman.
Ummmm – Wow! That sure was ummmm Bright! and ummm Cheery! and ummm Daring!
I’m totally with kmkat — “But babies love bright colors!! Ummm….
well, maybe they don’t have to be THAT bright.
So, at what point in the proceedings did doubt start to creep in? And therefore how long did you continue to knit anyway?
😉
Love the colors! Maybe the baby would grow up to work at Target 🙂 I’m sure the yarn will work for something else.
Well… you could always overdye it after it’s done…
The baby would have a good appreciation of colour…

So is it now Chaos’s blanket?
I agree, it does have the look of something for Superman target practice.
And what is wrong with primary colours? Other than the fact baby will need sunglasses…..
I think Chaos wants a blankie of his own. But maybe not THAT blankie.
It’s cute! It’s bright! It looks like it should bestow superpowers. What’s not to love? Lurid? lol.
OK, I don’t need cats helping me be a perfectionist!
Hey, saw this for the knit girrrrrls: http://tinyurl.com/czkbsv.
