Blue, blue building

Last night I met Renee for dinner and margaritas at Bar Abilene. We ate, drank, and were merry, then wandered down the block to take in an advance screening of Who Killed the Electric Car? at the Lagoon Cinema (I won tickets to it!). The documentary was extremely well done and very thought-provoking. The director and one of the main people in the movie were onhand afterwards to answer questions, which was great. Check out Renee’s indepth review!

Anyone remember the bright green building from last month? This month, I present (for your Project Spectrum amusement and amazement) the blue, blue building. (Remember that you can click on the pictures to see larger versions.)

Notice how well it blends into the neighborhood?! It’s a nice bit of color, especially in the winter.

Here’s a closer view, taken in the parking lot – please note that the Dunn Brothers Coffee isn’t open anymore. Do you see the mural? Here’s a picture of the rest of the mural:

“Your eyes are growing heavy… When you wake up, you won’t remember this conversation.
You will go forth, knit bibs, and wear them. Bwah-ha-ha!”

  1. That is a beautiful mural – amazing! What exactly.. is that a purple octopus? What is he doing on the far right of the mural?

He’ll try anything to prevent a third bib review, huh? Remember, once you fool me (into wearing a bib) shame on you (although its darn cute), twice you fool me shame on me.. Poor Chaos! ;o)

  2. Now that’s a blue building! I really like the mural though. Thanks for the note about “Who Killed the Electric Car?” I heard about the movie. Something tells me that it won’t be coming to our little town though.

Poor Chaos, still hasn’t gotten over the bib wearing thing.

  3. that’s what I was wondering…. who’s hypnotizing who? I almost had to snap myself out of it after looking into those eyes!

  4. I love murals! You seem to have quite a selection in your immediate area.

Gotta go knit a bib now. I keep seeing green eyes and hearing evil laughter, though. 🙂

  5. Love the mural! The town my dad lives in has a bunch of murals painted by local artists around the downtown core…some of them are better than others but it’s free public art, and they’re all very cool.

  6. That’s a really nice mural on that building… reminds me that I should post a picture of the “whale wall” in New London.
Funny… I have no babies to knit for, yet I have this strange urge to make a bib… and then wear it. How strange.

  7. What is up with the Dunn Brothers. I have noticed that several of them are out of business. That mural is ok, but I wish the mosiacs from Muddy’s would spread down the street. I like those better.

  8. I always think it’s clever marketing for a business owner to use bright color….I’m betting people pull in just to see what they are selling.

Chaos has amazing eyes! Such a handsome boy.

  9. Very blue.

I think Chaos is giving you the Doe Eyes Of Guilt. Multiple bibs. At least the colors look good on him. Maybe he needs a kitten.

  10. Winning tickets is the best way to discover new things. I loved calling in to the local college station and getting the tix d’jour. Only problem is that after a while – they know who you are, and all they need is your voice to say “ok never mind the info we got it already” ;)**CV

  11. The bright blue is a public service. You will always be able to find your way to the dry cleaners – even in a snowstorm.

Oooh feeling sleepy – Chaos has me under his spell 🙂 zzzzzzzzz

  12. Oh man, it looks like I have *lots* of cat-ching up to do! That photo of Chaos is really adorable – and glancing through the photos of your older posts, it looks like your friend’s baby is going to well-outfitted!

  13. I bet Chaos looks great in hot pink too. My Velvet sure does. And it’s manly.

Oddly enough, Chaos must have sent waves ahead of time because I’m already knitting a bib. Must. go. finish. bib.

  14. I really should knit a bib…a blue one (just the color of that building!) for a baby boy on the way…hmm…Meezer has blue eyes, she could model it…what? You say you’re going to warn Meezer? Chaos, be a good boy and don’t tell…you’ll have company in your shame if you let me? huh? please?
    (((hugs)))

  15. To my cynical eye, that looks less like Chaos hypnotising you into public humiliation, and more like Chaos trying not to fall off the chair while you have the camer pointing right at him…
