X-treme Lace in Peril

Yes, another challenge in the Amazing Lace! The first challenge was to introduce my lace knitting team. The second challenge is to illustrate some X-treme Lace Knitting. I think technically, it’s supposed to be one picture. And I’m supposed to be in the picture. But, since I am a singleton and Chaos’ picture taking is not so good due to his lacking of opposable thumbs, I decided to take pictures of teammate Chaos and my lace project.

I present to you – extreme procrastination! Nope, haven’t even started. Actually do not plan to start until I finish the log cabin baby blanket. Hey, we have until Labor Day for the Amazing Lace! And I picked yarn with purple, figuring I wouldn’t get to it until July. Anyway, teammate Chaos seems a bit shy…

But wait, what’s this?!

“Peek-a-boo.”

*sniff sniff*

*SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF!*

*munch*

Chaos?! Chaos?!! Where are you going with our teammate, Cabernet?!

*mwmph*

Oh no!!!

*rip bite rip*

Teammate Cabernet was quickly rescued, but alas, was somewhat gnawed…

Oh dear – those aren’t the ends of the skein: poor Cabernet now has six ends instead of two…

Hope everyone has a great weekend – I’m going to take the weekend off from blogging. Maybe I’ll catch up on blog reading. Maybe I’ll learn more about WordPress! Or maybe – I’ll actually knit so I have something to blog about. *gasp*

  1. oooh, I foresee problems with a member of your team, can you imaging what he’d do to a beatiful lace shawl!? There will have to be ground rules set.

  2. Uh. Oh. That darn cat. But you practically made him! The lure! the temptation! The ends you’ll get to weave in.

Cabernet sure is pretty. She’ll look great as Adamas.

  3. Hmm… I wonder how teammate Chaos is at joining ends? Spit splicing maybe. 🙂 I really do like the colors in the Cabernet.

  4. Hey, if you need some help “mending” the join in the lace, let me know. I’ve done it so many times, I think I can be considered a prefessional at it now. lol

  5. Chaos probably thinks he can get away with mangling anything as long as you’ve got your camera in your hand.. lol “Team Chaotic Lace” looks like its off to a start befitting its name. Hope you’re good at spit splicing…

  6. Ah Chaos… Sure you’re not in some way related to my Atticus? You know, with the yarn chomping and lack of opposable thumbs? Not that that stops you from doing stuff, right?!
Good for you for knitting lace! When it comes to lace, I somehow forget how to knit and manage to confuse myself. Only the simplest repeats for me… Give me an Aran chart any day. Lace, well I tend to cry.
Hope you have (had) a great, quiet weekend!

  7. GAAAA!!!! You let the little monkey do that! You only have yourself to blame hehehe
As soon as sockies paws at one strand she gets THE TALK!
    Have a good weekend!

  8. Ack! Not Good! Naughty Naughty Chaos. We understand your enthusiasm, but this just won’t do!

I say get together with that Dave Daniels up there and let him have a go. Hey, if someone volunteers for that horrid task? Always take them up on it. 🙂

Beautiful yarn and pattern by the way.

  9. OH HAHAHAHEHEHEHEHEHE too funny! I love Chaos..and Cabernet is gorgeous..so sorry, but correctimundo – you put Chaos up to it!
    (((hugs)))
One word meme you haven’t posted, but I’ll give you mine – hilarious!
I just love a visit with you and Chaos!

  10. Love the yarn. I see Chaos is, like Grumperina, a yarn sniffer. But he has a new category–yarn muncher.

Naughty and cute. What a combo. I’m a sucker for short, dark, handsome bad boys. Is he Italian?

    Good luck with Amazing Lace.

  11. Looks like Chaos got nervous before the big race! Such a terrible fight between teammates! Cabarnet looks like some quick assistance (yarn surgery) will be needed through some major parts of the performance, but it can still come out to a beautiful finish! 🙂

Chaos might need to sit in the penalty box for a bit though – very naughty!

  12. Poor Cabernet! Looks lovely, though… what shawl is that?

Is the sidebar *supposed* to invade the blogging space in that way? The combo of pic with buttons is rather interesting, but…

  13. I see Chaos is showing his creative side with yarn! (LOL). Enjoy blog reading! I need to cut down on blog reading. so, I can get some knitting done!!

  14. Oh, no! It looks like Chaos was taking a play from the how to be a shitty kitty playbook’s chapter about lace.

The yarn is beautiful and will make a lovely shawl.

  15. Isis has opposable thumbs–just makes for more trouble in the long run, believe me.

She’s chewed tight through the Dreambaby yellow several times, but fortunately I don’t like the color anyway. (Hah, Isis!) Not like that luscious cabernet. Maybe he thought you were supposed to drink it?

Simply Soft isn’t catproof either. Come to think of it, not many things are…

  16. Destructo kitty! Definitely extreme knitting. I love Chaos pulling the yarn off behind the pattern for a little sneaky destruction.

  17. Oh naughty Chaos! What is it with laceweight yarn that is so irresisible……remember the lace wrap River that ‘blessed’ Thunder nibbled on. Well I realised AFTER that I should have done a russian join straight away, like you said, but too late I’d winged it and knew I’d messed up so left it. Till the other day when I needed the needle and just pulled the darned thing off! I’ll start again fresh, I promise, one day 😉
