I can’t believe I forgot to post pictures after my dye buddy received her yarn! I sent yarn to Ghostknitter in Singapore, who likes “fruity colors.” The skein on the left was dyed during the class I took at Shepherd’s Harvest last month, using mysterious acid dyes. The skein on the right was dyed from Wilton’s at Jeanne’s last month – I used leaf green, violet (which is a pain to use), and sky blue. Dyeing these skeins was quite a departure for me, colorwise!
Jennifer is collecting money and knitted items to sell for her Socks for Sheep project. Her goal is to purchase a Knitting Basket (through Heifer International), which is two llamas and two sheep that will go to people in need. She’s offering the chance to win prizes to those who donate, so help her out if you can!
Apparently my feet are still not out of danger…
Pretty!!
Oooh, I like the yarn!
Sounds like a great cause! You’re lucky you have two feet with Chaos the sock muncher around. (That way you have one to hop away on!) ;o)
You really need to stop hiding the catnip from Chaos in your sock drawer.
The yarn came out really nice. Good job!
Good think I dropped by to check on you. You would have just moved without telling me. I know. I am coming back to the life of the living and will get on your prize ASAP. Sorry it hsa slipped through the cracks. I will sweeten it since I dropped the ball so.
Meow to Chaos
Oh pretty! I like both hanks, they do look fruity;) Watch your feet, I bet Chaos is hungry!
Great dyeing job…and just enough blue to make them nice Project Spectrum projects!
yummy yarn! i love it!
What lovely colors! I’ve heard that violet wilton’s is a pain to use. Did your colors split?
Oh my goodness, those are the prettiest colors!
The yarn looks great! I’m impressed with your results from the Wilton violet – I ended up with mauve from the violet.
Those are both gorgeous. And the one on the right has quite a lot of purple in it — maybe a little bright for you, but gorgeous, none the less!
Wow. Chaos can sure hold a grudge. Remind me never to cross him. Love the yarn!!
He hasn’t gotten over those socks yet?
Tasty-looking yarn — like a smoothie! Yum!
The Heifer donation project is a wonderful idea. Let me just second (or third) what a decent organization they are, very worthy.
Your yarns are very cute! You did a good job. It’s hard to break out of one’s favorite color schemes–versatility must mark the best dyers, folks like Lisa Souza. Do you remember anything about those acid dyes you used? ProChemical and Dye (they have a website, I think it’s prochemical.com) has some easy to use acid dyes called One Shot. Many colors, the acid is already in the dye powder so you don’t have to mix anything up. They’re pretty straightforward. I am still using them although when I’ve got a better handle on the procedures I’ll probably switch to Lanaset or something else. But if you want to experiment with some more consistent, strong colors, those would be a good buy.
That is just lovely yarn! And what does Chaos have against your feet? Or is that just an offensive shade to him? Thanks for mentioning Socks for Sheep, I really appreciate it!
The yarn looks great, I love the colors.
You definitely should get him some lamb flavoured food.
Way to break out of your comfort zone! They look great. I love the green in the skein on the right. Yummy!
Also, thanks for sharing your reading list. Much appreciated.
Oye, I have about had it with blogger as well. I may be in the same boat as you, transfer. I wish I knit in public at the Bad Waitress. Unfortunately I was knitting at the laundry mat.
Chaos loves him some sock yarn.
Nice dye job, girl!
Great yarn! Another hilarious shot of Chaos! So funny 🙂
Love the hand dyed yarn. It’s fun to stretch a bit now and then dyeing outside ones normal range, just to see what emerges. In this case, they’re beauties!
and that Chaos is such a hoot 🙂
Oh wow – love those colours……so bright! So cool! If I wasn’t allergic to almost everything I might be tempted to have a go myself….
