Yesterday I realized that one of my family members has a birthday before Christmas, which is when the massive super secret project needs to be finished. (Actually, two of my family members have birthdays before Christmas, but you don’t have to worry that I’m talking about you, Matt. I know you read the blog sometimes.)
Months ago, I had decided that I would make the knitted notebook cover (and even cover a notebook with it) from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders for said family member’s birthday. However, I was pretty sure I didn’t have an appropriate color. So how lucky was it that I won this perfectly colored skein of Colinette Jitterbug from Jane’s latest contest? (My caption for the linked photo was “Plz no hitz! Did not meanz to telz ending of ur buk.” Winners were chosen by random number.) Thanks, Jane! (We shall not discuss the fact that the Jitterbug will knit to a completely different gauge than yarn called for in the pattern. Right?) (My goodness, I must be feeling particularly parenthetical today, eh?)
“Oh, that is pretty. I wonder if it tastes as good as it looks?” -Mayhem
“Although I really came over here to get you to throw my somewhat green mouse for me, Mom. Pretty please?” -Mayhem
Yum! Looks like what you get when you crush ripe strawberries. Did it taste good, May?
Mayhem is very high maintenance!
Oooo, very nice colour!
Catch May!
Sigh – another super secret mystery surprise knitting project that is not for me! See you tonight!
Chris- Eh? Sounds a little Canadian to me, eh?
There’s a little Canadian in all of us!
Different gauge? Who cares, you math geek. Swatch and calculate the new numbers! 😀
that red is red. seriously.
I love the red.
I do love the Jitterbug – if the gauge is different – will your yardage work?
if that skein was in my house, and that were one of my black kitties, the next photo would show them running all about the house, skein firmly clutched in their mouths.
no yarn is safe in this house (tsk tsk)
I’d play with you May 🙂
That book cover looks tasty.
Lovely red! You did throw the mouse, right?
What a gorgeous color.
Yay for serendipity!
Pretty yarn! I hope you threw the mouse for May; I’m sure she didn’t want it thrown more than a thousand or so times.
I agree May, that yarn does look tasty!
So did you throw the mouse, and then throw it again and again and…
Can’t you give them half of the massive super secret project for their birthday and then the other half for Christmas?
(Okay, I know you can’t, but my parents birthdays are in Jan and they are convinced they’re gypped out of a Christmas present).
Wow, that was some scary accident you had. I’m glad I wear my seatbelt.
Those lolcats are so cute! And perfect. Hez loves standard time. She likes to sleep in and doesn’t like breakfast much anyway.
Wasn’t The Wolfman good? So sad that there will be no more.
That’s pretty. I won too.
Very pretty Jitterbug. I hope you can make it work!
That is some red-hot yummy yarn!
