Bolero and SNLGM

So Monday night at 11 pm, I admitted I wasn’t going to finish the baby bolero that night.

“You just would not believe how exhausted I am from helping with that bolero!”

The baby was born yesterday, so I raced home after work and finished my last two rounds of edging, wove in ends, did the fastest steam block ever, and took the bolero over to the hospital (where it was well received). Whew!

Baby Bolero from One Skein, using less than a single skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton, color Sand. I made the following modifications: three-needle bind off for the shoulders, picking up and knitting the sleeves instead of knitting them flat, and only picking up 34 stitches on each of the front edges. I would definitely knit this again – it’s pretty speedy, economical, and damned cute. Plus the Blue Sky Alpacas Cotton is nice stuff and didn’t make my wrists ache at all.

A little Project Spectrum sparkly mouse action – Sparkly Neon Lime Green Mouse (SNLGM) has been hanging about recently, trying to cover for SRM.

“Smells like… neon lime green.”

“Must destroy evil SNLGM!!”

“Mmmmmm…”

  1. The Baby Bolero looks beautiful, I love the color. Chaos just does’nt seem to like those mouse toys, what with drowning one and eating the other.

  2. I love the little bolero, and judging from the number of single skeins I have laying around, I’d better go get that book!

  3. That last picture: Haha! He looks so into it.

Oh Baby! J and I have to get our house so we can finally have a few of our own! *sniffs*

wild applause on the bolero!! Whoa!
You did such a great job, and under ‘deadline.’ ;o) Hope you aren’t too badly frazzled, especially after that! You never cease to amaze me with your knitting super powers.

  4. The Bolero is ADORABLE! I have to make one now that I’ve seen yours. I like the modification you made, too, I’m all about the easier way to do things.

  5. I may need to knit a couple of those baby boleros for some forthcoming twins.

Poor SRM is heartbroken that he’s been replaces, you know. (Unless SRM is a she…oh, well).

  6. The bolero is SOOOO cute!

I love how only SRM seems to get lost!

Funny story… Carmen used to LOVE yellow things, and would always steal Legos out of my sons room in the middle of the night, take them down stairs to the tile (where they made the most noise, of course) and bat them around like crazy until they disappeared. Everytime you would open the hall closet (where they all finally ended up), there would be all of these tiny Lego “toys” – ALL of them yellow!

  7. I’m always amazed at your talent. I sew buttons horribly. I can’t imagine making something as lovely as that Bolero.

LOVE the pic of Chaos stretched out. 🙂

  8. That bolero is terribly cute. Nice to see a project using that Blue Sky Cotton, I have photographed it but not knit with it. It does seem nicer than the usual cottons…

  9. Darling bolero and especially for someone so special. Congrats to the new parents! Chaos – if that’s how you’re going to treat your toy’s you’ll not get very many new ones young man!

  10. That bolero is adorable! Great (and speedy) job.

Chaos looks enthralled with SNLGM. I love the action shot in the second picture- that mouse is about to get a beat down. 😉

If Chaos gets any cuter, my head’s gonna explode! Good too see he didn’t waste away while you were gone…. 😉

  12. the bolero is TOO cute. I hope it doesn’t overshadow the new baby 🙂

Those pics of Chaos/Cosmo are awesome. If we weren’t sharing a cat, I’d have to have you come take pics of mine for posterity.

  13. Very cute! I’ve been knitting the M-D ballband dishcloths with that Blue Sky organic cotton, and I know how soft and squishy it is. Perfect for baby.

  14. You did a great job on the baby bolero! You’ll have to get a pic posted of the baby wearing it. Chaos cracks me up as usual. Was chaos a belly dancer in another life. Love the poses!

  15. Love the bolero. I’ve been looking at the Blue Sky cotton all week. I think it could be the solution to cotton giving me knitter’s elbow. Plus there was an ad for a really cute tank in the summer IK. Are you going to this Shepard’s Harvest thing this weekend?

  16. you go with that snlgm chaos… super sweet! naps lost most of his toys under the fridge and when i recovered them… well… let’s just say we need to get him some new toys too…
