A few more April PS images

My Sunny Opals are nearly done – just a bit more ribbing on each of them.

I have some Mod Podge on hand for a decoupage project that Jeanne and I are going to do, involving our old yarn labels and some small wooden boxes.

A very happy cat food can cover…

My favorite parking lot at the mall…

A cheery photo shoot from Minnesota Monthly

Some very battered sparkly mice (the yellow one has no fur on his back half and the orange one has no tail)…

A magnet from the fridge…

And Chaos waiting for the magic toy retrieving yardstick to do its magic.

“I can’t exactly remember where I last saw SRM… It might’ve been as he ricocheted under here.”

  1. Chaos loses his mousies about as often as my small herd does! But mine are not sparkly! Where did you get yours?

I’m loving the catchenfoodage lid for some odd reason. Possibly because I have some and you just justified the rationale for taking pictures of them for future months… heeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Do you use Wendy’s generic toeup pattern?

  2. Great collection of yellow and orange things. I like the idea of animal sections at the mall. It’s much better than numbers or letters.

    Nice socks too!

  3. Ahhh… youhave a magic toy retrieving yardstick, too! Mine is fluorescent pink.

The socks look great – I never would have chosen that yarn all wound up, but I love how it is turning out. Maybe there are yellow striped socks in my future…

  4. Fun yellows. I didn’t think much of the Opal Prismas when I’ve looked at them on line, but those socks are so nice I think I might have to go get some.

  5. I can’t wait to see the Mod Podge project! This has peaked my interest for sure. I just all the socks since I haven’t learned how. Once you learn do you go nuts making them?

  6. I’m liking all the yellow and orange especially the cat food tin cover and cat parking space! Is it me or are you knitting both socks at the same time? Wow – you ARE a knitting goddess!

  7. vlb5757 – Yes, sock yarn should come with a warning about how addictive sock knitting is!

Mrs Pao – Sorry – I knit them sequentially. I actually bound one sock off before I started the second sock, then realized that I can make the first sock quite a bit taller because there’s so much yarn in a skein of Opal. So when I finish the second sock, I’ll revisit the first and add a few inches.

  8. The socks look great girlfriend! Mine (sadly) are hiding out in a ziplock somewhere. I’m really trying to weigh finishing something I’m not enjoying over admitting I’m not enjoying it and moving on.

  9. Great picture journal.

    1. Those might just be my favorite socks yet. And I don’t even care for yellow-orange that much. 🙂
    4. Your mall parking lot has markers? I thought they only did that stuff at Disney World.

  10. I can’t wait to see you decoupage project. I have been saving my yarn labels but I am not quite sure what I want to do with them. Love the socks!

  11. Our Marvin generally pushes his mice under the closet door when he sees Mew coming, and then sits there, meowing until I open the door once she’s gone. He doesn’t like her getting them, since she drowns them all in the water dish.

The decoupage project sounds very interesting and possibly something all knitters should do. God knows I’ve got enough yarn labels sitting around, I should do something with them.

  12. Wonderful socks! They are almost there! so sunny and cheerful too ;o)

Chaos, maybe we should put a little homing device on all your mousies, or make them magnetic? Great picture of him looking under the fridge with you ;o)

**slogs off to the code bogs** :o(

  13. Those socks are great – that idea for the yarn labels is really good. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Poor Chaos – this would never have happened if he had opposable thumbs!

  14. Mod Podge and yarn labels! That’s almost as good as laminating them and turning them into bookmarks like Julia does.

    Chaos lost SRM already?

I saw the cutest Black Cat bandaids at the Borders bookstore the other day and oddly enough, thought of you and Chaos….

  15. Oh, the photo of dear Chaos so wistfully looking under the fridge is precious. And my don’t those SRM (or is it SOM and SYM) look a bit, ahem, worse for wear?

The yellow socks look grand. What kind of heel did you do? Some variation of a toe-up flap or a short row heel? Inquiring sock knitters want to know.

  16. Your mall has a cat parking lot? Mine doesn’t even have letters or numbers! And — Mod Podge for decoupaging? I haven’t thought of that (or done that) since the 70s! My cousin Alice and I glued pictures to all sorts of stuff…

  17. I can’t wait to see that decoupage, either! That’s going to look great.

Those socks are fantastic! Exceedingly cheery.

I recently moved the couch to sweep under and found a plethora of toy mice, all the pens and pencils I’d ever looked for, and enough wine corks to make me wonder if we had a problem. Thanks, kitties. 🙂

  18. Nice socks! And those mice look well loved. I usually cut the eyes off the ones I give the cats because they seem to delight in biting them off. Gives new meaning to the song “three blind mice”.

  19. Love seeing the yellow and orange around you (and Chaos!) The socks are so happy and sunny, and I can’t wait to see the Mod Podge collage project. I have similar plans for some of my old yarn labels…

    Have a good one~
