We’ve had a few really lovely fall days interspersed with rain and gloom. Although yesterday was gorgeous, I forgot to take my camera along on my walk, so you get to see neither the pictures of the woman walking around Lake of the Isles with a parrot on each shoulder nor the two blue herons wading and then flying across the lake. Instead, we shall look at trees from Saturday’s walk.
Not all of the trees are fully committed to fall yet.
The willows seem pretty united in not believing it’s fall.
While the maples tend to be the most into the spirit of the season…
…but not always, as illustrated by this line of three maples.
Sometimes even individual trees can’t decide.
“Y’know, Mom, no one really wants to look at trees. I’m sure your readers would much rather look at pictures of tasty parrots.” -Chaos
Please let Chaos know that I do like the trees however Pepper much prefers hunky kitties to most everything else…
(and Bartholamew says he just wants b-b-b-b-birrrrdz…)
Your trees are a little more advanced that ours here in the valley. Choas, not everything is about food.
My parents cat would probably disagree with Chaos about ‘tasty parrots’. They have a Lilac Amazon parrot and it has a beak like a can opener (and it can fly!) — the cat has the utmost respect for the bird once she realized that. lol.
Grumpy looking kitty face there, Chaos. Did you miss your morning parrot?
The dogwoods are turning red here. They’re always leading the pack, though: they’re the first to blossom in the spring. Some other trees are starting to color, but it’s mostly a riot of green still over here.
We have the nice weather here today that you had yesterday… I love seeing a patch of red and orange amongst a patch of green. Thanks for sharing!
The trees are not unlike the voters these days!!
maples are always ready to party
I love Willow trees. They always remind me of my childhood home. There was one in the corner of our neighbour’s backyard and even though it creaked a lot when it was windy and my mom was afraid it would fall over on our house, I loved that big old tree. It reminded me of Eeyore.
My maple tree comes purple so it is always fall at my house 😉
Oh, Chaos, we would rather see pictures of YOU!!!
The trees are mostly undecided here as well. Though I can’t say I blame them. Colorado weather is confusing with its near-winter overnight lows but early summer highs during the day.
I love the split personality tree! It reminds me of sugar maples, which are few and far between out here in the west.
Hey Chaos – you don’t know that… some of live where the trees (and seasons) hardly change! We LIKE seeing the pics!
I love watching the trees turn colors! But alas, I live in California where the trees usually go from green to leafless with no pretty colors between…
Thanks for the pics! Including that grumpy kitty pic at the end!
I love the trees. I always looked forward to the beautiful trees when we visited family up north. 🙂
I love the picture of the undecided tree!
Our neighbor’s maple tree just gives up in our hot, arid climate and starts dropping shriveled up green leaves in mid-September all over our patio.
Too many feathers, Chaos! Better to learn to use the can opener.
I think it’s guaranteed that the subjects for picture taking occur when you forget your camera. Our trees look about the same. They suddenly started to turn the past couple of weeks.
I don’t know Chaos. Parrots have some pretty wicked beaks when they bite.
Tasty parrots? My, Chaos is quite the connoisseur of birds. There’s a guy in my neighborhood who walks around with his parrots on his shoulders, too. He esp. likes to sit at the sidewalk Starbucks cafe at peak hours, so that everyone can admire his rarae aves.
Maples are my favorite trees in the fall, esp. sugar maples.
Beautiful photos 🙂 We have undecided trees here, too.
Great pictures, of course the one of Chaos is the best.
Well, I like trees, too. I think Chaos is just envious because he doesn’t get to change colors.
I do think it funny when some portion of a tree turns great bright colors and the rest is green (or a dud). We also have a few maples around here where part of the tree has variegated green/white leaves and the rest are plain green.
So Chaos must be a member of KETA? Kitties Eating Tasty Animals? (Don’t blame me, the Teen came home with a similar bumper sticker…)
Tell that big black kitty I prefer to look at trees. Trees that are only half-committed to the autumnal season always make me chuckle.
Chaos you’d better stay away from the parrots, sparrows are much tastier!
Basil.
tasty parrots… ahh Chaos, you’re such a hoot.
I do miss falls in the midwest, my favorite season!
