This starts with five overview shots and then a few detail shots of some of my favorite things. For scale, I took the overview shots while standing on my coffee table. I don’t think Chaos is in any of these pictures (although he’ll make a guest appearance) because he was very busy in the closet that he’s never allowed into.
I have nine 66-quart Sterilite tubs, eight 33-quart Sterilite tubs, and all the “miscellaneous” in the first pictures. My conservative estimate is 1000 quarts of yarn… You can click on any of the pictures to make them larger.
Missing in action is another of those black crates, filled with bags of Cotton-Ease. I forgot that it was under the bed until just now…
I know storing yarn in plastic tubs isn’t supposed to be very good for it, since humidity can get trapped in the tubs. I solved that problem by sticking a refrigerator pack of baking soda into each tub.
“Mmmm… smells like salty yarn. Yum.”
A few detail shots… Here’s some of my Kureyon. There’s an Adrienne Vittadini kit (fuschia) that I won a few years ago on the right side of the bin. Some vintage Red Heart wool can be seen near the top of the photo. To the left of the bin are two skeins of Malabrigo.
A 33-quart bin of assorted Noro (mostly Kureyon):
A 66-quart bin of sock yarn, jammed very full:
A modestly sized basket with more sock yarn – Bearfoot, Fleece Artist, and Trekking:
Now I hope you’ll excuse me while I go squirrel away my yarn again… Oh yeah, all this yarny excess is stuffed into a 637-square foot condo. I haven’t resorted stuffing yarn into the furniture… yet.
Gorgeous stash LOL… Might have to come over to do some “shopping” hahaha.
I had to convert your square footage to square meters to realise what size your appartment is…
And my favorite blogworld cat is looking gorgeous as ever 🙂
Cheers Eva
Rather funny that there are bare toes peeking into the sock yarn picture. Running short on socks, are we? 😉
Thank you for sharing all these pictures – it’s fun to see what other people like to buy lots of and also a relief to see that I don’t have *that* much yarn.
Lovely stash! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been having a great time this morning snooping into everyone’s yarn obsessions. 🙂
My goodness that was totally helpful in two ways for me. One, I am seeing how others store their stash, and Two, I NEED MORE STASH. lol! I am sorely behind the stash curve. I am going shopping for another installment for the stash today as a matter of fact. Yeehaw let the stash shopping begin!
I love days like this – when I realize that my stash is actually puny, and I should feel free to buy more yarn!!! Thanks for flashing!
Holey Moley, I’m speechless…..
Nah, not really. My stash is pitiful, just pitiful. Made up mainly of 22 skeins of sock yarn and yarn that is devoted either to St. Ciaran or FLAK–plus odds and ends from previous projects. Yarn envy in full swing here!
Only fair since you’re envying my biking weather. Even though it’s gonna be nice and warm today, I can’t ride due to the wind. Sustained at over 15 mph and gusting into the 20s. Tomorrow looks much nicer. Yep, I’m a wimp.
It all looks good. My stash pales in comparison!
Woo-Hoo! That’s a nice-sized stash, girl! 😉
Holy CRAP! That’s a LOT of yarn baybee!
It’s amazing how much yarn can be stored in plastic bins, isn’t it?
When my LYS runs low on Kuryeon, I know where to find some! Lovely!
I’m in awe! Thanks for sharing.
Mmmmm… I covet your Noro tub! Everyone else has WAY better stash than I do.
Nice stash and nice toes! 🙂 My stash is pretty pitiful by comparison. It’s mostly sock yarn, some cotton ease, and lots of leftovers from previous projects. I haven’t read any of the Anna Pigeon mysteries. I don’t get a lot reading done any more but I’ll put it on my ever growing list of books to read.
Wow, so this is what I have to work up to!
Frankly, if you had furniture that would hold significant amounts of yarn in a 637 square foot condo I’d be very, very concerned about you. 🙂
Happy Stash Day!
tres fabu! that’s a lot of yarn for such a small space. I’m impressed.
Look at the sock yarn! *pet pet*
holy moley…that’s one great stash! a qhole tub of noro? yowza!
Ya know what I’ve just realized? I DO NOT have a stash. I think all the yarn in my house would fit into two containers……feel sorry for me, feel very very sorry 🙁
Lovely stuff. I think you win the contest. My condo is smaller but I only have 4 bins, the (overflowing) sock yarn basket, and some monster bags.
Stuffing yarn in furniture – what a briliant idea.
Humidity? Plastic tubs? Crap! Now I have to go get about ten bazillon boxes of baking soda. Or do you think the yarn is ok if I regularly open all the tubs to fondle it??
Nice yarn btw!!
And here I was, thinking that I was the only person addicted to Kureyon- and they keep coming out with more colors!!! How is this possible-? Thanks for sharing your nice underwear- ooops- I mean Stash!!
Damn! Well now I know who’s house to rob when we need yarn. Or a cute cat.
That, my dear, is a very respectable stash! And thanks for the tip about baking soda, as my stash is soon going to be living in Rubbermaid condos in the walk-in attic and that’s just what it will need.
Beautiful! And very impressive. Baking soda…hmmmm…may have to try that. I have resorted to Zip-locs. My dream is to have a beautiful floor to ceiling bookshelf so I can see all the colors but I’m afraid of yarn-eating buglets.
Loving all of those sock yarns (and that Noro!) yummy!
Hey sista! I love your stash – I too have the plastic bin thing down big (have never used baking soda and have never had problems but I may have to rethink that – Arm and Hammer would be real happy). You got some great yarn there and some fantastic sock yarn.
Great to see. Thanks for flashing your stash! LOVE IT!
Whoa. That’s an awesome stash.
Cute toes! 😉 If you run out of room, your stash can come ‘visit’ mine – I’ve got lots of room and, in comparison, not much stash!
I love how you measure your yarn stash in ‘quarts’ ;o)
What a LOT of yarn! It’s a really good thing Chaos doesn’t know how to open that closet, yet! ;o)
Great pictures – and your stash is pretty organized (wow) for the size of it!
WOW.
Oooh lovely yarn.. mmmm…..
Wow – stash! Toes! I really get an idea of the sorts of colours you like most – yes you’ve told me, but this really make it clear. And they are colours I’d be quite happy to live with 🙂
Do I see some tops amongst the yarn?
Plastic boxes might not be the best but what choice do we have if we need to stack our stash and also want to have some idea what is in it??
Thats some serious ice cream that you have had to put away to get those tubs.
🙂
Yeah.. I definitely need more yarn after seeing that. I might flash my stash after all.. I haven’t decided yet. I love Noro yarn.. it just keeps following me home from the LYS.
I think you need to grow a few more legs to fit all those potential socks…
hmmmmm – yummm… stash…. sigh…
lovely.
I think I could shop in your sock stash forever! :o)
Come visit my stash flash.
Wow! You have an amazing stash! Wow, you have a lot of beautiful yarn! Wow!
lovely stash and I think you’ve got more sock yarn than I have! It’s an eye opener. Sadly the two bloggers I know who have more stash than I have haven’t flashed theirs today.
Wow, I’m impressed! Alas, my stash is not currently in a flashable state… I’ll have to take a rain check on this until, oh, July.
I’m in awe. 🙂
Oh my.
You have a lot of stash to flash! Great selection of sock yarn. I’d say I’m jealous, but I need to keep my sock yarn to a dull roar:)
I’m speechless (and that’s saying something)!!! You have a stash to be proud of! If you’ll excuse me, I must go back to your stash pics and get my fill of eye candy. My stash is anorexic compared to yours!!
p.s red is chaos’ color.
Oddly enough, I feel a little bit better now.
Now that is a stash!
That is a seriously impressive stash! Well done 😉 BUT it hasn’t beaten the one here: deesie.typepad.com
Anyway, you knit real fast so whats the problem? There are far worse things to get addicted to isn’t there….
Well, I’ll say it. I’m jealous of that stash. I’m impressed for such a small space, you obviously have it packed with yarn. I epsecially am drawn to the sock yarn stash, the very last picture. I can’t stop looking at it! You have to share the trekking colorways, eps. the one at the very bottom that is some sort of pale green, with reds and variations going through it, to the left of the purple variegated Trekking.
