Ebook Giveaway: Truth in the Dark by Amy Lane [CONTEST CLOSED]

Congrats to Sweet Vernal Zephyr, who won the copy of Pool Hall Green by Sara Bell! And remember that Sweet keeps a running list of book contests in her sidebar, plus has daily update posts.

Many thanks to Amy Lane, who has donated an ebook copy of her forthcoming m/m fairy tale, Truth in the Dark, for a lucky commenter to win! Truth in the Dark will be released by Dreamspinner Press on June 16.

“I am not beautiful…”

Knife’s entire existence has been as twisted as his flesh and his face. The only thing beautiful in his life is his sister. When Gwennie is obliged to turn a suitor down because she fears to leave her brother to the brutality of their village, Knife is desperate for anything to ensure her happiness.

Her suitor’s cousin offers him a way out, but it won’t be easy. Aerie-Smith has been cursed to walk upright in the form of a beast, and his beloved village suffers from the same spell. Aerie-Smith offers Gwen a trousseau and some hope, if only Knife will keep him company on his island for the span of a year and perform one “regrettable task” at year’s end.

Knife is unprepared for the form the island’s curse takes on his own misshapen body. In one moment of magic, he is given the body of his dreams – and he discovers that where flesh meets spirit and appearance meet reality, sometimes the only place to find truth is in the darkness of a lover’s arms.

About Amy

Amy Lane teaches high school English, mothers four children, and writes the occasional book. When she’s not begging students to sit-the-hell-down or taxiing kids to soccer/dance/karate – oh my! she can be found catching emergency naps, grocery shopping, or hiding in the bathroom, trying to read without interruption. She will never be found cooking, cleaning, or doing domestic chores, but she has been known to knit up an emergency hat/blanket/pair of socks for any occasion whatsoever, or sometimes for no reason at all. She writes in the shower, while commuting, while her classes are doing bookwork, or while she’s wandering the neighborhood at night, pretending to exercise and has learned from necessity to type like the wind. She lives in a spider infested and crumbling house in a shoddy suburb, and counts on her beloved Mate, Mack, to keep her tethered to reality – which he does while keeping her cell-phone charged as a bonus. She’s been married for 20+ years and still believes in Twu Wuv, with a capital Twu and a capital Wuv, and she doesn’t see any reason at all for that to change.

Book Giveaway: Signed special edition of The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint [CONTEST CLOSED]

Congrats to Jase, who won the copy of Gay Man Seeks Same by Kim Dare!

Remember my author fan letter to Charles de Lint from a week or so ago? As a result of that post, Charles and his wife MaryAnn Harris have donated a very, very special book for me to give away to a lucky reader: a personally inscribed special edition of The Onion Girl, put out by Subterranean Press.

*pauses so we can all admire the lovely cover and I can get my fangirl squeeing under control*

“I’m not as trusting as people think I am. Sure, I see the best in people, but that doesn’t mean it’s really there.” – Jilly

The Onion Girl is set in the imagined North American city of Newford. It’s a place where magic lights dark streets, where myths walk clothed in modern shapes, where a broad cast of extraordinary and affecting people work to keep the whole world turning.

At the center of all the entwined lives of Newford stands a young artist named Jilly Coppercorn, with her tangled hair, her paint-splattered jeans, a smile perpetually on her lips – Jilly whose paintings capture the hidden beings that dwell in the city’s shadows. Long a supporting character in the Newford stories, The Onion Girl is Jilly’s own story. Behind the painter’s fey charm there’s a dark secret, and a past she’s labored to forget. That past is coming to claim her now, threatening all she loves.

“I’m the onion girl,” Jilly says. “Pull back the layers of my life, and you won’t find anything at the core. Just a broken child. A hollow girl.”

She’s very, very good at running. But life has just forced Jilly to stop.

You can read about the background of this book at Charles’ site.

Ebook Giveaway: Gay Man Seeks Same by Kim Dare [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Kim Dare for donating an ebook copy of her forthcoming short m/m romance, Gay Man Seeks Same (G-A-Y, Book 8 ), for a lucky reader to win! This book will be released by Total-E-Bound on June 7.

Can a man who wants nothing more than to be part of a boring old married couple really find happiness with a man whose relationships have only ever lasted until he zips up his fly?

Craig knows what he’s looking for in a lover. He wants someone just like him – a nice guy he can build a nice, simple, uneventful life with. He’s hoping that’s just the sort of man who will answer his internet ad.

Donovan’s nothing like Craig. He’s all about leather, fast cars and relationships that last hours rather than years. They may work at neighbouring desks, and Craig may have a crush on his colleague, but that doesn’t mean he should forget about the kind of man he’s sure will make him happy in the long run.

The only trouble with internet ads is you never know who will answer them…

Reader Advisory: The stories in this collection are linked solely by theme. Each story can be read on its own and the stories can be read in any order.

About Kim

26 years old, from Wales, UK, Kim writes about kink, love and happy endings. If a story doesn’t have those three things, it’s not going to be written – at least not by this writer!

Apart from that, Kim likes to write a little bit of everything. So far that list includes Male/Male, Male/Female, a few different varies of menage, shifters, vampires, fairytales, time-travel and ghosts. It’s anyone’s guess what will come next…

A firm believer that there is no “One True Way” for people to kink, Kim likes to let the characters in each book pick their own ways to dominate and submit to each other. As long as they stay safe, sane and consensual, Kim’s happy to let them live their lifestyle 24/7, or just open the toy box on weekends – whatever’s right for them.

Published since 2008, Kim also writes BDSM erotic romances for Total-e-bound.

You can visit Kim at her website and her blog.

Ebook Giveaway: Pool Hall Green by Sara Bell [CONTEST CLOSED]

Congrats to Antonette, who won the copy of The Blue Moon Cafe by Rick R. Reed! And congrats to Kassa, who won the copy of Phonebook by Amy Lane, which will be released today by Dreamspinner Press.

Many thanks to author Sara Bell for donating an ebook copy of her recent m/m romance, Pool Hall Green, for a lucky reader to win!

Drew Harris is a master when it comes to the game of pool, but family is always a crap shoot and Drew rolled snake eyes. His parents want little to do with him. The only time they call him is when they need money, or when they want him to bail his gambling-addict brother, Vic, out of a jam. So when Drew’s mother calls in a panic to let Drew know that Vic owes a local casino owner two-hundred and fifty grand, Drew’s not exactly shocked. Not shocked, that is, until he learns that the guy Vic owes doesn’t want the money: he wants Drew.

Casino mogul Evan Stacie never thought he was the kind of man to resort to blackmail, but the death of his brother two years ago changed a lot of things. He needs Drew’s skill with a stick to ruin the man who sent Evan’s brother to an early grave, and if Evan has to fight dirty to make that happen, so be it. Nothing, not his growing attraction to Drew or the soft spot Evan feels for the guy, is going to stand in his way.

Ebook Giveaway: Lights and Sirens by Stephani Hecht [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to author Stephani Hecht for donating an ebook copy of her forthcoming m/m romance, Lights and Sirens, for a lucky commenter to win! Lights and Sirens will be released by eXtasy Books on June 1. This book exists because, after reading the previous two books, Running Hot and Man Down, several bloggers insisted (in Tam’s comments) that Stephani needed to write a book in which straight paramedic Matt hooked up with gay nurse Lucas. We were apparently quite persuasive! Thank you, Stephani!

The past couple years have been a real bitch for trauma nurse, Lucas Harris. He’d given up everything to be in a relationship with a man he loved, only to find out the feelings weren’t mutual. Hurt and betrayed, Lucas leaves everything behind and moves to Flint, Michigan to start over again.

After a night of too many drinks, Lucas gets up-close-and-personal with paramedic Matt Shaw. The only problem is while Matt may be the sexiest medic in Flint, he’s also as straight as they come. The last thing Lucas wants is to be someone’s dirty little secret again, but at the same time he can’t deny his growing attraction to Matt. When a near fatal incident forces the men to face their feelings for one another, Lucas knows things will never be the same again. Will his heart be able to survive the outcome?

About Stephani

Stephani Hecht is a happily married mother of two. Born and raised in Michigan, she loves all things about the state, from the frigid winters to the Detroit Red Wings hockey team. Go Wings! You can usually find her snuggled up to her laptop, creating her next book or gorging on caffeine at her favorite coffee shop.

When she’s not running around like crazy, trying to get her kids to their various activities, she’s working on numerous projects. In the coming months, she has several books coming out with eXtasy Books in both The Lost Shifter Series and Drone Vampire Chronicles, plus a few additional projects that are still in the development stages.

Many thanks to Amy Lane, who has donated an ebook copy of her forthcoming short m/m romance, Phonebook, for a lucky commenter to win! Phonebook will be released by Dreamspinner Press on June 2 using the generic “Daydream” length cover – since everyone got so distracted by the last generic cover, we’ll just get that out of the way. 🙂

Fortunately, his playful lover has not only planned ahead, but can think on his back as well. It turns out that the heart really is where good sex starts!

Ebook Giveaway: L.A. Heat by P.A. Brown [CONTEST CLOSED]

Congrats to Melissa, who won the copy of Broken Bones, Mended Hearts by William Cooper, which is being released today by Dreamspinner Press! (Congrats, William!)

Somewhat recently (via Ethan Day’s monthly Gay Day), I won an ebook copy of P.A. Brown’s m/m romantic suspense, L.A. Heat, which I already owned. P.A. has graciously allowed me to give that copy away to one lucky reader! Thanks, P.A. 🙂

In L.A. Heat, a serial killer is on the loose in Los Angeles and he’s targeting gay men. LAPD Detective David Laine – himself gay but deeply closeted – is assigned to the case with his homophobic partner, Martinez Diego. The nature of the crimes and the brutalization of the victims bring disturbing emotions to the surface for David. Laine and his partner have a suspect: Christopher Bellamere – an openly gay California “golden boy” who crossed paths with two of the victims before their deaths. But when cop and suspect meet, an immediate attraction complicates the case and David Laine’s very private life.

As David works to find the killer – and Chris works to clear his name – they both seek to understand the complex feelings that are growing between them. Fast-paced and intricately plotted, L.A. Heat, author P.A. Brown’s debut novel, will have you on the edge of your seat right until the last page is turned.

If you enjoy L.A. Heat, you’ll want to pick up the rest of the series: L.A. Mischief, L.A. Boneyard, and L.A. Bytes.

About P.A.

At 22 years of age, P.A. Brown’s life changed forever when she sold everything she owned and moved 2,000 miles away to a city she’d never visited, where she knew no one. Coming from a sheltered life, she spent the next eight years doing her own wild and crazy thing. She roamed the good and bad streets of Los Angeles, doing things that in retrospect were probably downright idiotic. Knowing nothing about the city (or any big city) she made the brilliant decision to get a cheap apartment. She found one, in the heart of a crime-ridden section of Hollywood, one she later found out was called a war zone by the LAPD. There were stabbings and shootings and assaults every weekend. Thus was her introduction to life in a big American city.

Most of her time in L.A. was spent in the underbelly of the city, including a month or so living out of a car. She visited Skid Row, spent time on the streets of Hollywood, and befriended a bartender who was killed after she went home with a customer. And you wonder why she writes crime novels? During the 80s, P.A. saw the advent of a terrible disease no one understood that became known as AIDS. Being immersed in the gay community, P.A. knew a lot of people who died in those days. For a brief period, she was even a “Valley Girl,” living within spitting distance of the famous Sherman Oaks Galleria. Does she miss it? Every minute of every day.
