Ebook giveaway: Boys in Brief anthology by Clare London [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Clare London for donating an ebook copy of her m/m anthology, Boys in Brief, for a lucky commenter to win!

A collection of Clare London stories full of sweet, sexy romance, and boys seeking friendship, fun and inspiration.

SALT ‘N VINEGAR
Brighton in the summer is a great place to be for a young, gay man looking for a good time with no strings. Psychology student Joe’s spending his uni vacation working in a chip shop with a succession of ever-worse punning names and picking up guys on the beach for casual hook-ups – but something makes him want to take it slow with gorgeous chip shop regular Steven.

The trouble is, Steven’s shy smile hides a dark secret, and his past is about to come back to bite them both.

Originally included in the anthology Summer Lovin’.

THE BETTER PART
Chas’ growing up is fraught with trouble but it’s always been accompanied by his own irreverent humour and determination – and the continuing presence of his lifelong companion and friend, Adam. While Chas stumbles on through delights and disasters, life and love, Adam remains wise and supportive and… never changing.

Originally included in the anthology Wishing on a Blue Star.

DEEP COVER
Max is doing all the right things, as is his lovely girlfriend, Elisa. They don’t share a grand passion, but they know that they’re expected to get married, which would further Max’s military career, and secure Elisa’s social standing. Max does have one grand passion, though, for fellow soldier, Ryan. Will he live his life the way he wants, or will he and Elisa be forced to do what people expect?

Originally published 2008 by Torquere Press.

DRESSING DOWN
When Joey takes his boyfriend Gaz to their friend Chris’ unruly “Tarts and Vicars” party, they cause an unholy stir. Why is Joey so proud of Gaz – why can’t their friend Vincenzo take his eyes off Gaz’s costume – why is Bren’s cousin Ginger so obsessed with waxing – who sat on the archbishop’s mitre – and just how much alcohol DID Chris put in the punch?

Originally included in the anthology Lashings of Sauce.

METHOD ACTING
A young man receiving the most intimate teaching from his mentor and crush… but in Gerald and Stephan’s hands, is that scene really what it seems?

About Clare

Clare London took her pen name from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home, she juggles her writing with her other day job as an accountant.

She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic, and sexy characters.

Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter three stage and plenty of other projects in mind… she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home.
All the details and free fiction are available at her website. Visit her today and say hello! You can also visit Clare at her blog, Facebook, Twitter, and GoodReads.

Reading Update
Art Before Breakfast: A Zillion Ways To Be More Creative No Matter How Busy You Are by Danny Gregory. That I started this in early July and just finished it last week should tell you something – comfortable writing style, fun drawings, and yet I just wasn’t drawn in.
Journal Fodder 365: Daily Doses of Inspiration for the Art Addict by Eric M Scott and David R Modler. There’s a lot of information in this book; I think it might be best for someone just starting to art journal who is trying to figure out their own style and habits. What I liked about this book were some of the ideas for how to integrate an art journal into your life and not just work on it during “studio time” (which I have a tendency to do).

Ebook giveaway: Out of Sync by Bronwyn Green [CONTEST CLOSED]

Congrats to free_dreamer, who won Burning Bright (Seize the Fire #1) by KD Sarge!

Many thanks to Bronwyn Green for donating an ebook copy of her freshly released kinky m/m romance, Out of Sync (Bound #5), for a lucky commenter to win! (It isn’t necessary to read the other books in this series before reading Out of Sync.)

Ten years ago, Morgan Weaver walked away from everything he loved – his burgeoning career as a composer, his cello, and his best friend, James. Family obligations and guilt keep him tied to a job he hates, and his dreams have collected even more dust than his instrument.

James Shepherd was left reeling when Morgan abandoned not only their dreams of writing and performing together, but their friendship. James forged on to become an internationally known musician, but he’s always felt Morgan’s loss and has never been able to shake the feeling that he’s responsible for the other man’s choice to leave everything behind.

A simple request from Morgan’s sister brings the men together in a way neither of them expected, and long-denied desire bubbles to the surface overwhelming them both. Knowing it’s only temporary, Morgan finds himself lost in a haze of submission, finally able to experience being at James’ mercy and determined to enjoy it while it lasts. James, however, has other plans and is equally determined to show Morgan he can have all he’s ever wanted – including what they have together.

Artful Collage from Found Objects by Ellen Spector Platt. Ok book about using what you have on hand to make mixed media collages. I enjoyed looking at some of the projects in the book, even though they weren’t art journal relevant.
The Art Journal Workshop: Break Through, Explore, and Make It Your Own by Traci Bunkers. Good overview of materials and techniques for art journaling – I’d think this would be particularly useful for someone just starting to art journal. (FYI – I checked this book out from the library without the DVD, so my review is only for the book.)

Ebook giveaway: Telltale by Clare London [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Clare London for donating an ebook copy of her recently released m/m Gothic horror, Telltale, for a lucky commenter to win!

Outcast by his Victorian family because of his homosexual nature and disobedient ways, Nicholas Spencer is indentured as a secretary to a successful businessman, Simeon Allan. He’s no better in that job, but a relationship builds between him and Simeon, in which Simeon becomes his mentor and sexual master. However, Nicholas is still restless, looking for opportunities to indulge himself, rather than appreciating the sensitive but strong bond between him and Simeon.

When Simeon’s attractive nephew Benedict comes to stay, Nicholas loses all perspective in the name of what he believes is love. In his mind, the only thing that stands between him and the pursuit of that love is his possessive master, Simeon. Nicholas contemplates the most horrible action to gain his freedom, even though he fights his own conscience – and finds that the mind is a powerful foe.

Warning: Gore, obsessive love, and no HEA.

Ebook giveaway: Celebrate and Magpie (2nd ed) (Avian Shifters #1.5 & #2) by Kim Dare [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Kim Dare for donating ebook copies of her freshly released m/m paranormal romance, Celebrate (Avian Shifters 1.5), and forthcoming m/m paranormal m/m romance, Magpie (2nd ed) (Avian Shifters #2) (available November 14), for a lucky commenter to win! If the winner hasn’t read the first book in the Avian Shifters series, Kim will also include a copy of Duck (2nd ed) in the prize.

It’s not easy learning how to be a swan, but Ori Jones has worked hard to embrace a role that still doesn’t come entirely naturally to him. Now, almost a year after his first full shift, he finally feels as if he is making a difference at the Anderson nest.

Ori’s happier than he’d ever been, until a few words from his master, Raynard, suddenly bring all of Ori’s old fears rushing back to the surface.

The nest’s elders want to have a party for Ori’s birthday, but Ori can’t see any reason to celebrate in it being a year since he reached his avian maturity. After all, what’s the use in learning to be a good swan when Raynard never wanted a swan in the first place?

Please Note: This story is best read in order as part of the Avian Shifters series.

Everet has found his perfect place in the nest. As a raven, he’s ideally suited to his new role in the nest’s security flock. Some of the jobs it entails have been far more enjoyable than others, but when he’s called to retrieve a magpie, who’s got himself into trouble in a local human club, it becomes a truly life changing experience.

Magpie shifters have always been looked down on by other avians. Just as attracted to shiny things in their human bodies as they are in their avian forms, everyone knows they’ll do anything for money – and they’re not above stealing what they can’t get by more honest means.

Kane knows what being a magpie means, and he’s got the bruises to show for it. When Everet rescues him from his latest scrape, Kane knows better than to believe the raven will actually take an interest in him and his welfare, but it’s just possible that Everet is different to any other man Kane has ever met.

Please Note: This book is best read in order as part of the Avian Shifters series.
Please also note: This is the second edition of this title. It has been tweaked and re-edited, but the plot has not changed.

About Kim

Kim Dare is a full time writer from Wales (UK).

First published in December 2008, Kim has since released more than 75 BDSM erotic romances. That means that well over one hundred characters have chattered away inside her head during that time – and that’s not even taking into account the fact that there are over three times that number of people clamouring in the wings for a chance to tell their stories. It’s no wonder she loses track of what’s happening in the “real” world at times…

While Kim’s stories range over male/male, male/female and all kinds of menage relationships and have included vampires, time travelers, shape-shifters and fairytale re-tellings, they all have three things in common – kink, love and a happy ending.

You can visit Kim at her website and her blog.

Reading Update
King of Russia: A Year in the Russian Super League by Dave King with Eric Duhatschek. Pretty good look at coaching Magnitogorsk Metallurg in the Russian Super League (RSL), which preceded the current Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). King started out basically spouting the crap most Westerners seem to about Eastern European hockey players (lazy, enigmatic, etc), but that mellowed/improved as the book progressed, fortunately. 98% of the reason I read this book was for the glimpses of baby!Evgeni Malkin during the 2005-2006 hockey season, including a bit about Malkin “defecting” to the NHL at the beginning of the 2006-2007 season.

Ebook giveaway: Prickly by Nature (Portland Pack Chronicles #2) by Piper Vaughn & Kenzie Cade [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Piper Vaughn for donating an ebook copy of her forthcoming paranormal m/m romance, Prickly by Nature (Portland Pack Chronicles #2), for a lucky commenter to win! Prickly by Nature will be released by Dreamspinner Press on November 16.

In the four months since hedgehog shifter Avery Babineaux started investigating the disappearance of a young female werewolf from the Portland Pack, he’s discovered his life’s passion. Now he’s apprenticing under established PI Corbin Reid. Avery hopes his training with Reid will help him finally bring Lacey home, but detective work isn’t without its perils, and the potential dangers strain his relationship with his new mate, Dylan.

Dylan Green would be perfectly content with his mating and his motorcycle shop if it wasn’t for his constant worry about Avery’s safety and the fact that Avery’s never home. Proud as he might be of Avery’s determination to prove his worth and fulfill his promise to Lacey’s father, Dylan can’t stand the thought of Avery being hurt. Yet what right does he have to demand Avery give up his job when it’s clear Avery’s found his true purpose? Still, Dylan wishes he could, and the appearance of a new police detective who sets his sights on Avery only adds to the tension.

Something has to give, but stubbornness runs in both their veins, and it might take a catastrophe for them to find a compromise they can live with.

Ebook series giveaway: The Heartsville Series by Piper Vaughn, Nico Jaye, JH Knight, Jayden Brooks, & Cate Ashwood [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Piper Vaughn for donating ebook copies of the entire freshly released m/m romance Heartsville series, for a lucky commenter to win!

Bookmarked by Piper Vaughn.
To save his bookstore from closing, Mark Werner realizes it’s going to take a miracle – like getting reclusive, best-selling author Shepherd Knight to agree to appear for a signing.

After their disastrous last encounter, Mark doesn’t hold up much hope Shepherd will agree. Shepherd’s never made a single public appearance. In fact, Mark wouldn’t even know what he looks like had he not accidentally discovered the sexy stranger he’d been flirting with for months, aka “Tall-Dark-and-Grumpy,” was also his fanboy obsession.

But desperate times call for desperate measures. If Mark can convince Shepherd, it’ll be a major coup in the book world and might just save Bookmarked from sinking. Too bad Shepherd won’t reply to his e-mails. Yet Mark didn’t earn the reputation of having a “sunshine-and-rainbow-fart” personality for nothing. He’ll do whatever it takes to get his man… and hopefully not make a fool of himself in the process.

Unscripted by Nico Jaye
Theater manager Teddy Carbone’s life has gone pretty much according to script… until now.

To his surprise, Teddy finds himself co-owner of the Oasis Theater with Carter Monroe, a corporate shark who’s looking at him like he’s chum in the water. Being in charge of the theater is one thing, but having to deal with Carter and his demands is another. With Carter’s proposed plan to sell the Oasis looming, Teddy must convince Carter the theater is worth saving. When Teddy introduces the bright, bold world of the stage to Carter’s cold, all-business lifestyle, though, he soon comes to recognize that the Oasis might not be the only thing he has a chance to save.

Another Shot by JH Knight
The town of Heartsville means something different to everyone who lives there. For Aaron Forester, it’s a gay-friendly buffer between himself and the rest of the world. After being outed in high school and bullied to the point of violence, his family uprooted their lives and relocated to the small hamlet. He’s moved on from all that and now owns a popular cafe in the bustling shopping district. But after twenty years of happy living, Aaron’s past creeps up on him in the most unexpected way.

Brad Collins only has one regret and he’s carried it with him since he was a teenager. When he moves to Heartsville and gets set up on a blind date with the most adorable, engaging man he’s met in a long time, he couldn’t be happier. But Brad didn’t expect the guy to be the person he outed in high school – who he’s now falling in love with.

Aaron and Brad hit it off instantly – in and out of the bedroom. But after a long overdue apology and a small serving of resentment, is their fledgling relationship worth another shot?

Clique by Jayden Brooks
Adam Locke’s youthful looks aren’t the blessing everyone seems to think. At twenty-eight, he’s a successful photographer with his own studio and respected by his peers – but that doesn’t seem to matter to the men who catch his eye. Instead, he’s brushed aside like an underage twink with a daddy fetish.

When a hot, bearded stranger stops him from accidentally walking into traffic, Adam looks up and finds the man of his dreams. Unfortunately, his first meeting with Brandon ends with him being dismissed as a kid. Again. Adam can’t help his annoyance. He also can’t help staring (and drooling) whenever he spots Brandon walking through the neighborhood with a different dog.

He watches from afar, wondering about Brandon’s story – until the day he’s dared to take another chance. It’s just the push Adam needs, and finally, he catches Brandon’s interest. Now if only he could figure out the key to getting taciturn Brandon to open up and let Adam in. But Adam knows sometimes all it takes is a little patience for the last piece to click into place.

Bloom Box by Cate Ashwood
If there’s one thing William Sullivan knows less about than how to run a business, it’s flowers. When Will is left carrying responsibility for the flower shop he’d leased for his cheating ex-boyfriend, he is sure it will lead him into financial ruin.

Just when he’s about to abandon all hope, in walks Milo Hart – young, overflowing with energy, and perhaps best of all, a genius when it comes to flowers. Will hires him on the spot and they begin a working partnership that might be Will’s only saving grace. The more time they spend together, the more Will’s feelings for Milo evolve and Will must choose between keeping things strictly business, or taking a chance to let love bloom.
