…I’m going outside
I’m taking a walk
I’m just getting by.
– John Prine, “Taking a Walk”
Valerie’s looking for “brand name” ideas for herself. If you can come up with a crafty brand name with the word “mushroom” (or “champignon,” the French for mushroom) by July 20, you could win a box bag made just for you!
Oh dear – I’m thinking #7 could be a real problem…
I didn’t mean to worry anyone Friday with the last line of my post. When I wrote that, I had just finished reading Tink’s post about her fiance’s brother being killed in a car crash the night before and was feeling very sad…
So, back to the title of this post, from the song “Taking a Walk” by John Prine – I’m continuing to walk regularly and am definitely feeling lots better because of it. Taking pictures to share with y’all is helpful, too!
Speaking of which… 😉
Remember the mural on the side of Caffetto Cafe? This is the new mural – an apparent homage to Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer:
The fine print under “GEEK” says “Local Certified Geek.” Huh. What do you think geek certification covers?
Here’s a picture of the “Mary Tyler Moore” house, just for Lorraine:
Who knew map kiosks had their own addresses? Do you think there’s regular mail delivery?
The name of this apartment building amused me no end!
Some purple flowers that struck my fancy – Jeanne told me what kind they were, but I’ve already forgotten. D’oh.
I wonder if my fascination with shrubbery is because of Monty Python or Edward Scissorhands?
“Do you think I’d like going out for walks? I could get closer to the birds!” -Mayhem
I’m such a groupie! If ever I get there, you’ll need to take me to all the places movies/TV shows were made and “famous” crime scenes.
Heh, we have “Geek Squad” up here – and they drive VW Beetles.
Those are great pictures, and I love that one of May!
Oh my; you better sleep with one eye open if you let Chaos and Mayhem read those commandments!
Another singer/song writer we have in common…love John Prine. Your pictures bring a sense of place. Your neighborhood is varied and interesting!
Lovely pictures and there is nothing more fun than taking a cat out for a drag on its back.
Geek certification?! Where do I register?
No, probably no mail delivery.
Definitely from the Knights Who Say ‘Nee’.
Thank you! : )
That house is magnificent. I absolutely love it. My mum and I used to love to drive around and look at houses like that – it was always very exciting if the front windows were open – as in, curtains parted – so we could sneak a peek inside as we drove slowly by.
Bring me a SHRUBBERY!!
Looks like clematis.
May, I don’t think you’d like the feel of the sidewalks and roads, much less the harness you’d have to wear for walks.
Chris- (Mwah) I love you. I am such a fan of that show. I can just picture Mary having one of her ghastly parties-
I know I am deeply entrenched in a fantasy world- how would a 99 dollar a week TV producer afford all those clothes?
I always giggle at the word “hermitage,” too! Lovely pictures from a beautiful walk.
the PBR mural is now my wallpaper
Great pictures — I feel like I was walking along with you. And thanks for the background on your closing line of the previous post. I was a little worried, too. Glad all is well with you.
Geek Certification probably involves pocket protectors.
I agree with carol – certified geeks most likely must be able to keep ink off their shirt pockets, carry a zip drive at all times, have no less than 5 electronic gadgets within an arms reach.
and I love that photo of the cat reading the book. omg.
Love the pictures, I want to live in that house.
May on a leash? I can’t see it….
Clematis…
Ooo-oooh! It IS a Clematis!
Mayhem is looking particularly fuzzy today.
Johnny Dep and topiaries! I LOVE them, too!
(((hugs)))
Sounds like my kind of apartment complex.
Stay inside May! That’s why there’s cameras. And toys.
It must not be 114 where you live or you wouldn’t be walking.
We have the same clematis in our garden. It looks fun in your neighbourhood – I’m enjoying seeing what you see.
I don’t know. I would think a certified geek wouldn’t need a pocket protector. They would use an electronic device instead. I’ve got to wonder why a map kiosk needs it’s own address.
“Ni!”
No May, you wouldn’t enjoy going for a walk.
Your mom would try to put you in a harness with a lead, my mom tried this when i was a kitten, I just lay down and wouldn’t move until she stopped.
purrs,
pearl phyllis
Glad the walks are helping so much, and I love the photos! In our neighborhood, I’ve seen a person walking a cat on a leash, however, I don’t think that’s what May has in mind.
Yep #7 is definitely going to be a problem.
Oh, and I’m voting for the Knights who say “Ni!”
Well Mayhem, if your mom would get you a kitty harness like Socks’ and Mitten’s daddy got them, you could go out and get very close to the birds. (Please note that I do not endorse cat harnesses. In fact, I hid ours.)
