Cats conversing over cables

Thanks everyone – yesterday was a much better day than Wednesday! And the heat broke a few days ago – yesterday was a picture perfect day here: upper 70s, negligible humidity, cool breezes, blue skies, and sunshine. Ahhhh… In fact, the members of my family who are goin’ up nord to da cabin this weekend will be taking their woolly socks and sweaters, as temperatures are supposed to drop down to the 30s overnight!Oh dear – the Neatnik continues to demand more Chaos pictures!!

Remember this sock, knit from Regia Bamboo?

I was knitting the Sockamania May sock way back when and discovered that the ankle was too tight. Last Sunday I decided to rip out that sock and do something else with the yarn. Surprisingly, the baby cables from Sensational Knitted Socks didn’t look too bad – I think this pair of socks will be a holiday present.

*sniff sniff sniff* “No fresh nip in this bag. Darn it.” -Chaos

“Haven’t I seen this yarn before?” -Mayhem

“Y’know, I think you’re right, Mayhem. I think we saw it as a different sock a few months ago.” -Chaos

“Well, it’s no stripey sock, that’s for sure.” -Mayhem

“Neener neener neener, Mom – I see you trying to take our picture!” -Chaos

  1. Yay for cooler weather! That Regia looks great in the cable pattern, and you should get some sort of endurance award for doing another pattern with teensy cables after the Serpentines!

  2. Your new socks look great! I can’t believe you are working on another mini cable pattern. I am still working away at my Serpentines, the Spirals are almost done.

  3. The little cables look great in the Regia Bamboo. How do you like knitting with it though? I knit my Dad a pair with it and they are some GREAT feeling socks, but I thought I’d go blind knitting with that yarn. There’s just something about it that makes my eyes go wonky!

Love that last picture of Chaos!

  4. Thank you for the link to my “temporary new home” on the net! I think, btw, that the kitties will love your new Posy Sock Sack (arriving in September!) and just maybe they’ll find a bit more “homegrown nip” inside, if they’re good kitties!
    *wink*
YOUR HEAT BROKE? I surely hope ours will as they predict – it was 101 actual degrees yesterday (not “heat index)
    (((hugs)))

  5. See if someone had asked to bet me that I would read the word Neener today, I would have absolutely taken the bet. Good thing I didn’t …or that the Neener Bettor doesn’t exist.

Let’s take a moment of silence for the lack of existence of the Neener Bettor. Go ahead if you’d like to say a few words Chris, please do

  6. The baby cables is perfect for that yarn, and even though it isn’t stripey, I think it looks very pretty.

Glad you are having good weather! Enjoy the weekend!

  7. Cute tongue picture of Chaos 😉 You’re making me miss Minnesota summers now!! *sigh* It is so hot here by 10 am we are crawling home for the air conditioning…

  8. oh yeah! I am totally digging the break in the heat!! Planning a great weekend of yard work sans heatstroke. 🙂

LOLing at May’s “Well, it’s no stripey sock, that’s for sure.”

  9. There is a really pretty mini-cable patterned sock over at Wendy Knits and Loopy Ewe as well.. in case you need further temptation to knit more socks.

  10. Those are such cute pictures of Mayhem with the stripey socks! She looked good on them, no wonder she was so attached.

When is Jim Butcher going to come out with his next book? I’m all caught up.

  11. The 30s?! See, that’s why I can’t live by you. It hardly ever gets in the 30s here, even in the dead of winter. I start shivering below 60.

  12. Love the baby cable socks, the colorway reminds me of happy confetti… like from a New Year’s Eve celebration. Too cute with the tongue shot.
