The end of the stripey socks tail?

It was a very long night, working the switch upgrade. Of course, things fell apart right at the last minute, too. I slept for about six hours, but still woke up feeling hungover. Then it turned out I couldn’t get into the laundry room to do laundry because some git had tried to drill out the lock (apparently hoping to score a few quarters). Off to the laundromat for the first time in, um, eight years? Or more? All in all, a very exhausting day. But today is another day, right?!

The latest edition of Yarnival is up at January One!

I’m told that poor Neatnik has been upset at the lack of Chaos pictures. Sorry, Neatnik!

Thanks to Janna for pointing out that May’s obsession reminded her of Mooch’s obsession with the Little Pink Sock.

“Hmph. I can’t believe you thought I would steal those stripey socks, Mayhem. Have you noticed that kitties don’t wear socks?!” -Chaos

“I know, big kitty, I know. I can’t understand what came over me! It seems absolutely crazy now.” -Mayhem

“Besides, it looks like Mom tossed the socks into the laundry bag, so they’re out of your reach for now.” -Chaos

*sniff* -Mayhem

“There, there, May-May – it’s ok. You’re just young and excitable.” -Chaos

  1. That’s an all time low: trying to steal the laundry room quarters.

When Neatnik awakes, I shall bring her over to see Chaos tenderly taking care of Mayhem!

  2. Chris- The laundromat isn’t altogether bad- you can have several machines going at the same time, bring your knitting, and single guys tend to hang out there.
    I like laundry.

  3. Oh I LOVE when they cuddle up like that and groom each other!! Its such a nice change from when they try to kill each other!! LOL

  4. I love that Chaos still grooms May – the closest we get to that at our house is Jack covering up for Benny in the box.
Some days I say a little prayer of thanks for Jacks skills in the box 😉

  5. What wonderful sibling-kitty love!

I hope your week finishes off better than it’s been! What a doofus to try to steal laundry quarters.

  6. I love the pictures of kitty comfort. My dear kitties share a disdain for one another which brings an icy front into any room they co-habitate. Is that a real word? I need some coffee. Now off to read some Yarnival. Have a wonderful Thursday.

  7. What terrific shots – he’s adapted so well to his new sister…
Ah, May…The Meezer insists you just need to find the right tearstrip!
    (((hugs)))

  8. Aw–it’s a Turf Off. I love watching a cat household push each other’s buttons. Is Chaos really grooming May or is he trying to bug her just enough that she chooses to move somewhere else? Flower pot for one, Mayhem?

  9. oh poor May…she really did look extremely attached to that sock. Poor little kitty. Chaos is so good and comforting to her over her loss.

    (dang they are too funny!)

  10. Hey lady! As usual, love the photos of the kittikins. I dropped by to let you know that I’m having a contest over on my blog. Details are there, if you feel like mentioning it or entering it. Thanks! I hope you are doing well.

  11. I love those ktity pictures, they look so happy together.

That is the one thing I love about living in a house, laundry on-site with no quarters needed. But i do miss going to a laundromat for one thing, you can do like 18 loads at once!

  12. LOVE that first pic, they look so important and regal! The laundromat…we had to go last summer when the kiddo brought home head lice-we have no hot water in our wash! Before we got the house we had to go to a laundro, and the kiddo (then 3 1/2) and I would go next door and get homemade pie!

  13. Awww, look, it’s a moment of kitty calm before the storm 🙂

And those switch upgrades never go as planned do they? I worked at a datacenter in HS and remember a few late nights trying to get things back up and running…

  14. Awww… It’s hard losing your favorite socks.

It never fails that things go wrong when you’re most tired. Hope you get / are getting more sleep tonight.

  15. I’ve seen my share of strange things and people in laundromats – hope it was an uneventful visit, if you know what I mean!

Cute kitties sitting together! Our older cat acts very undignified when she gets caught cuddling and stalks off ‘I don’t play with kittens.’

  16. So, the cats have completely taken over the shelf eh? I have a feeling this is a bit what babyproofing will be like when I get around to it… just putting everything away and clearing a path to avoid destruction ;o)
