…because life is unpredictable. Many heartfelt thanks to all of you who have checked in on us here in the Twin Cities in the aftermath of the I-35W Mississippi bridge collapse. There are still people missing and we’re all kind of shellshocked. That bridge is just a few miles from where I live and I’ve been over it hundreds, if not thousands of times (although it isn’t part of my regular route). We aren’t famous for bridges in the Twin Cities, but since both the Mississippi and the Minnesota rivers cut through the metro area, we have a lot of bridges. I’ll be thinking about them a bit differently for a while.
“I’m glad I’ve never been over a bridge. How scary! I’m sending out nips and licks to those poor people.” -Mayhem
Chris, Glad to hear that you and the little ones are OK. It’s no where near my usual commute, but my phone rang off the hook with people checking in last night, as I’m sure yours did too. Our girls send reassuring nips and licks to your kids.
so glad your ok!! I heard it on the radio this morning, very scary!!
that is horrifying
I’m so glad you’re okay. That is so scary!
I’m glad too, Mayhem! It’s scary out there.
So glad that you, the kitties and your friends/family are okay! Morticia was awfully concerned for her fellow black kitties (and their custodian of course).
I’m so glad you’re okay. Take it easy – these things are super stressful even if you’re not involved.
When I first heard about it, the magnitude of it, was hard to wrap my mind around, and I went blank. I was happy you left a comment, that told me you were okay.
I’ma think differently about bridge inspectors now, considering in the news here, they claimed that they didn’t have to make any repairs on the bridge until 2010.
Thank God you and your loved ones are okay! I will keep all those suffering in my thoughts tonight!
I guess it’s the fact that most everyone living in the Twin Cities area have been on that bridge at one time or another, some more, some less often but they have been on that bridge, that is boggling everyone’s mind right now.
My brother and sister in law had been on the bridge in the morning of the day of the collapse, one of my managers had gone been on the bridge at 5:30, only a half hour before it collapsed.
I am glad you are OK, thankfully I currently don’t know of anyone who was hurt or is missing in this catastrophe, my heart goes out to those less fortunate.
so glad to hear you are alright – just saw the paper. what a terrible tragedy.
My heart also goes out to all those lost.
I saw this on the news last night. It looked incredible. I’m so relieved that you are ok.
My heart goes out to the people who have been hurt by this tragedy.
I’m in absolute shock over what happened! And to think that the city knew about the potenial for damage and chose to just continue with minor repairs.
(I stumbled across your blog on Knitiot Savant’s blogroll, by the way.)
I’m so glad you are all right! That is a real shocker. It would make more sense if there was a good ol’ California earthquake or something, but just falling down? Freaky!
Thank god you’re ok. It’s just awful ;(
It’s scary, isn’t it? When you think of the number of people driving over that bridge every day….
I’m so glad to hear that you and yours are ok.
Oh gosh, I forgot you live there. 🙁 I am glad you’re okay. What a horrible disaster that was.
