No particular knitting excitement to report – I started my second Black Purl Chaotic Jaywalker last night, but since it’s still a tiny piece of toe, you can just go the start of the first sock from last week and get the same effect.
“You again? Always with the camera. Sheesh. Can’t a cat have a little privacy?”
I had a black cat with gold eyes several years ago. He was such a good companion and he was my first and last cat. He was perfect and I know no other cat could take his place. Your cat looks much like my Chico.
Thanks for the compliments, and the info about what length needles you use. You must have read my mind, because I was going to ask you about that very thing!
You must be looking after him really well because he is very shiny and gorgeous! He is quite perfect – my black cats are a bit shabby from fighting but they were like Chaos once when they were younger.
*snicker* Every time my furry one gives me that “can I have some privacy?” look, I feel compelled to respond “then you shouldn’t be licking your crotch in the middle of the living room floor.” (Sorry if I ventured beyond the realms of good taste….)
Margene – I can certainly understand that!
Hickmama – Your socks are completely gorgeous!! Thanks for turning me onto the lovely Wyvern sock pattern.
mrspao – Thanks! Since he doesn’t get to go outside, hopefully he won’t get shabby from fighting.
Imbrium – Well, I’m the one who posted the picture, so… 🙂
The ennui of the second sock.
The public baths are so cute. Sheba used to lick my hand and then rub her head on it. Like I was an extra paw. Handy, I supose, lol.
this is a sad story i’m about to tell (thought i’d let you know before i wrote it… sorry it’s morose…):
i read in the news the other day about a lady who came home and found one of her favorite cats murdred under the tree in her yard.
it looked like a dog had done it.
she took her beloved cat to the vet to determine cause of death and it was found that a dog would have caused the wounds that they were seeing.
she and her husband searched the neighborhood for the offending animal and found him living with the new family that had recently moved in.
they decided that yes, it had to be the german shepard because the hair matched those found at the scene.
the family didn’t believe it was the dogs fault and did nothing.
she contacted a facility that did dna testing on animals (for real yo) and she obtained a sample of saliva from the dog as well as from her cat.
the match was exact, 1 in 65 million or some obscene number like that.
she wanted to take the family to court but the law did not permit her case because there was no eye witness to the crime.
she no longer lets her other four cats or her child out into their yard to roam free, like the dog does.
how does that make you feel?
Yep, a cat can wander into a living room crowded with dinner party guests, plonk himself down on the floor, commence a noisy grooming of his nether regions, and still look mortally offended when you suggest he do that somewhere else.
I agree with Imbrium!
& ROFL at kellie n
I’ve found myself wanting to tell our cats the same thing. When other people go wandering through our office (yes, they go to work with us==spoiled!), I am thinking, ‘We have company girls, can you do that later?’
ok – is that a pacifier on the floor?? Yours or Chaos’?
“me” – Yikes! 🙁
Lynda – Um, no, that’s a small white and pink furry mouse, not a pacifier! :p
Hmm, I thought I left a comment yesterday, evidently not. Come on, give the cat some room! Thanks for the gof wishes.
I saw that you are reading Kafka on the Shore by Murakami? There are some disturbing feline related elements in it, other wise I think it’s one of Murakami’s most linear works. Yes I love de Lint and I just picked up a copy of Doomsday***CV
Hee hee – thanks’s for the movie quote!! “Run Away” is an oft used classic around here too- that and, “It’s only a flesh wound- But your arm’s off!”
you know, I thought I didn’t like cats. last year, I tried to cuddle with one and she (or he?) scratched my right hand really bad. I’ve been staying away from cats ever since. but looking at your cat’s picture is actually making me change my mind.
how do you take such great closeups w/o the flash interfering with the pic of the fur? my pics keep getting white tips on the end of their fur. sigh.
Re: CynCyn’s question – I usually take normal pictures and then crop them and resize them so they look like closeups. 🙂 I use FxPhoto because it’s free and covers basic photo tweaking, cropping, and resizing. I’ve just started experimenting with the macro mode on my camera, but haven’t tried any cat pictures with it.
For some of the shots of Chaos, I end up taking down the gamma and brightness levels a little bit because his fur is so reflective. Again, I do that in FxPhoto (no affiliation, yada yada).
