Gosh, I can’t even remember the last time I did a bullet post. Surely it must be time.
- I am on call this week for the first time in my life. Let’s everyone think happy healthy database thoughts, shall we?
- Hee hee – the ice cream truck just drove by (playing a loud and chirpy song) at the same time my cell phone rang. Chaos growled and poofed and Mayhem hid. Apparently the Feline Apocalypse begins with the ice cream truck…
- Grr. WordPress and I are fighting again. Really, I shouldn’t have time to read four pages in a book while saving a draft of this post.
- Wow, I’ve had sort of a crazy week o’ winning. I think I’ll have to list each as a separate bullet item, due to the complexity of one prize.
- First I won Misery and Cabernet from CursingMama’s Not So Humble Opinions.
- Then I won a rather amazing goodie bag from author Lynn Viehl’s Paperback Writer blog: The Pajama Girls of Lambert Square by Rosina Lippi; Master of Shadows by Lynn Viehl; Animal Attraction by Charlene Teglia; The Missing by Shiloh Walker; Primal Male by Sasha White; Round the Clock by Dara Girard, Red Fire and Red Kiss by Deidre Knight; Pleasure Unbound, Desire Unleashed and Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione; Hawkspar by Holly Lisle; The Iron Hunt and Darkness Calls by Marjorie M. Liu; and signed paperback copies of Lynn Viehl’s novels StarDoc and Evermore, as well as some other surprises.
- Next was a copy of Lauren Dane’s Relentless from Romance Reviews Today.
- Finally, I won a copy of Jaci Burton’s Hunting the Demon from Nice Mommy, Evil Editor.
- Many thanks to CursingMama, Lynn Viehl, Patti from Romance Reviews Today, and Jaci Burton!
- (begin foreshadowing) Of course, since I have several of the books in the goodie bag, I’ll probably need to have another book giveaway here in the not-too-distant future… (end foreshadowing)
- The cats are not thrilled by the new toilet because there isn’t enough space behind the base for them to walk in circles around it anymore.
- However, there is a mysterious porthole-like opening in the base, so now they stand one on each side of the toilet and touch noses through the porthole.
- Don’t expect a picture of that anytime soon.
- I’ve been slowly trying to get back in shape… after about three years of being an utter slug. Slowly because if I try to do too much too soon, my body fights back and I can’t exercise for several days while the aches and pains subside.
- Did I mention that getting older isn’t so fun?
- Or that I didn’t properly appreciate my level of fitness three years ago?!
- Did you hear that the high temperature Saturday in Minnaepolis was 65F? We’re still having drought conditions, too.
- On the plus side, neither mosquitoes nor humidity have been bothersome this summer.
- I’m definitely going to have a scar from that sprocket incident a few weeks ago.
- I’ve also added a lovely array of new bruises: dropping something on my foot, bike pedal to the shin, and skidding the toilet box (with toilet in it) down the front of my other shin to keep the toilet from smashing to the ground.
- It’s hard to describe how much I love Placebo’s new song, “For What It’s Worth.” I can listen to it over and over and over and over…
- My goodness, I’d best stop now. This got a bit out of hand, didn’t it?! ๐
“I’m not going to look at you, Mom. That just encourages you with that silly flashing.” -Mayhem
Touching noses behind the toilet, how cute! I need to slowly get back into shape, too. Most of my excuses have disappeared.
So does being on call mean you can’t come to knitamatography class? They can call you there…
Yikes, sorry about the scar! That is too bad…
I liked the bullet post – cool…
I hope you don’t get called. ๐
Best
L
Oh…you SO have my sympathies for being on call. Do you get paid for carrying the pager, or just if it goes off?
I’m trying to get back into shape too. A 40-year old metabolism isn’t the same as a 30-year old one! At least get back into walking and cycling, and get my ass back to yoga… *sigh*
Thinking happy database thoughts. Thinking happy database thoughts. Thinking happy database thoughts.
I realized how miserably out of shape I was when I started getting up at the crack of doom to power walk with the dog and my neighbour a few weeks ago. It’s getting easier now, but at first I thought I was having a cardiac arrest by the time I got to the top of my street.
Well, I think last night took care of that mosquito thingy for you.
The Sprocket incident makes me think of one of my SNL faves – “Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance…”
Again, you are very lucky with the contests and the winning.
Oh I hear you on getting back into shape. Three years ago I was in fantastic shape – today it’s quite the opposite!
I think you should definitely take a picture of the kitties touching noses behind the toilet. Please.
Chris- You started the toilet karma, because our downstairs one cracked and leaked into the crawlspace. I am now the proud owner of an eco-toilet, which has 2 push button flushing options.
We couldn’t be prouder!
Love the bullets! I like them so much, I am thinking about maybe doing it again soon myself.
Who knew the Feline Apocalypse started with ice cream trucks? Though with their annoying little musical vamp….
Whew.
I think you need a rest.
Or a nice, non-intensive walk.
Is getting into shape catching or something? Okay, mine is more rebuilding my muscles after last year’s bike accident…slow and steady really does win the race with that.
Scar-wise? The secret is vitamin E. Like from the vitamin pills. Crack one open and rub it on the scar (once it’s a scar), it will shrink it noticeably. Although (looking down at my scar-filled knees (which are all much smaller due to the same….)? They do add, um character :).
Congrats on the wins, and yes, getting back in shape is harder the older we get.
How is the Vitamin D therapy going?
(((hugs)))
You’ve had a very lucky week — how fun to get all of those packages in the mail!
Hope your bruises ease soon. Getting back into shape is just no fun. Hang in there!
I’m amused by the whole porthole idea ๐
You are really good at winning prizes – well done!
Getting fit isn’t much fun. It’s a lot of work, but it is great to be able to do more without feeling tired all of the time. Good luck and hopefully your bike won’t try and fight back any more.
I’ll match your bruises and raise you almost losing a finger or two. Last week was NOT a good week for me.
I love the mental image of the two kittehs touching noses through the porthole. Really, you must give us a photo of that ๐
“Apparently the Feline Apocalypse begins with the ice cream truckรขโฌยฆ” Bwaha! 8^P
I am pretending that I am not trying to get into shape, by riding to work. I just think of it as transportation (and it is), then it is not the dreaded Exercise.
Beware the ice cream truck! Poofed kitties can be very funny. I love it when they run with their bellies just an inch from the floor.
I hope you don’t get called this week!
Well the Placebo’s For What It’s Worth isn’t too bad. My favorite will always be Buffalo Springfield’s For What It’s Worth –> this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g9PiEgYYUU I can listen to it over and over and over and over and over…
I’m having a difficult time picturing an ice cream truck in your neighborhood. It just doesn’t seem real “kid-like” around your parts. I think last night’s rain may have gotten us caught up rain-wise out here in the faaaaar western stretch of the city. My unofficial rain catcher says it rained a sh*t load!
Wow, you’ve been quite lucky! For the most part it has been a cool summer in Chicago, too, and I’m actually enjoying it.
I’m right there with you on the exercise — I’ve been getting in an hour a day 5x week in July!
So what kind of ice cream did you have?
What a great winning streak you had!
Lots of books won recently! You can’t be on call. You’re busy. ๐
I cannot believe that there’s a photo op you’re not going to take advantage of. How hard can it be to get a pic of it? (Impossible? lol).
Sending lots of healthy happy database thoughts your way.
I’ve been trying to get back in shape too. I miss my old “in great shape” body.
We had one month of very hot dry weather. Now we’re back to lots of rain and more pleasant temperatures.
I do believe you spoke too soon about that drought….
and I’m a wee bit concerned with all these bike injuries!
dang girl.. congrats on all the wins !
You should be buying lottery tickets too ๐
Hey, I forgot to tell you. The CDs you sent have quickly become favorites. Hoop hates the 80’s one, so I have to jam out in the car alone. But we both love the wolf mix. I really love listening to it while I clean. It mellows me out.
Whew! Lots going on. Makes me tired just reading it all! ๐
