“What’s this on the coffee table?” -C&M
“Oh, very comfy! But I thought Mom hated knitting mittens and gloves – and these are kind of like both in one, aren’t they?!” -M
“Whatever – these are just so cozy!” -M
But wait… what’s that on the left?! Oh, my… could it be… a price tag?!
“Mom! How could you?! I’m so ashamed! What are all the other bloggers’ cats going to think?!!” -M
That’s just too funny! Your cats are gorgeous.
For. Shame. !!! :o)
You couldn’t PAY me to knit gloves, so hey! Good for you. Time for all knitters to ‘fess up to what they won’t knit!
Haha….horror or horrors. I so understand the shame. My favorite scarf…store bought. I feel so shallow! 🙂
lol…a good laugh to start the day. 🙂
It’s okay. We all do it occasionally! And I cannot believe how big she is getting!
It’s hard to tell the kitties from the mitties 😉
It’s okay, I wear store bought gloves too!
Hehe I see nothing wrong with that. They’re very cute. You could always just “bend the truth” and say you knit them.
Gloves? Cats/kittens? All I see are black blobs. 😉
Too funny. I have store bought gloves too.
Do you sprinkle catnip on the knit goods to get the cats to cuddle up to them? I mean, that just isn’t normal cat behavior to do what you want them to do so that you can take a picture.
PS – My gloves are store-bought, too – but they are leather.
Oh the cute! I can’t take much more!
I buy store-bought gloves too, although I have knitted a pair, and mittens. I’m a bit of a germ-phobe, so hate the thought of my hard work touching germy things like bus rails. It’s ok if machine-made things get dirty or torn because then I don’t feel guilty throwing them out.
Chris- And they’re black… Chris you do surprise me!
I made some FI gloves, and farting around making 10 fingers just about did me in.
My Mommie is the very same…buys those funny Totes Driving Gloves. But then she puts fingerless mitts over them for extra warmth! I LOVE those…
Since I’m struggling with a simple scarf – I am one with the idea of buying mittens. Quite honestly I’m starting to be one with the idea of buying a handmade scarf from someone else and passing it off as my own work.
Love the box pics!
It’s that it? Then you should feel better to know that I regularly dress in SmartWool from top to bottom including underwear!
Hah, ha! Chaos ratted you out! 😉
I feel the same way whenever I buy a wool sweater…
Nothing wrong with the instant gratification that store bought gloves can bring.
Well if it is cold enogh for gloves you need them now, not when you have wrestled a set of dpn’s into submission 🙂
I love your pictures. I always read your blog with verve and can’t wait for your daily musings!
I believe in having gloves in every pocket and every corner of the house because they will inevitably get lost. There’s no way I could knit that many, so I’d rather buy el cheapo ones that I don’t care if I lose. No shame in being practical–especially when you live in the Great White North!!!!
Love the kitty pics.
Hey, I buy mitten every year. Some things are just worth the purchase.
Your secret is safe with me 🙂
May is so cute! And I’m with you – the idea of knitting fingers frightens me!
You dirty dirty girl.
I hope you feel ashamed.
I’m sure that one of your readers could have knitted you some 🙂 But they are gorgeous glittens…
Our person bought gloves too, but at least they are suede. Your mom must have bought them for you because they match. Of course, everything that humans purchase is for their cats…
Hahahaha! Take a shower you naughty knitter you! Personally, I wouldn’t knit gloves for all the yarn in the…wait…on second thought….
*gasp*…no not really…at least they match the kitties…
Watch out – with just a little help from the kitties you may never see your mittens again (black makes easy camouflauge among cats)
Oh, the horror! 🙂
GASP! Store bought knit ware! Oh, the horror! hehehe I, too, have store bought gloves, but they are leather. At least they match the cat fur.
Sometimes I look at something and think, yes I could make it, but I could never make it for that little because yarn costs money and/or it’d take me forever.
Oh how could you! The shame of it all. 😉
I like knitting mittens but I absolutely refuse to knit gloves. There’s no way I’d knit glittens.
Oh come now, you could have at least made up some excuse like: you bought them so you could write a pattern from them and knit your own pair.
I keep thinking I can’t buy sweaters anymore – but then, I’ve never knitted a sweater!
Also, must say that my husband last night says “hey, ya know what would be a good name for a cat? Mayhem!” I informed him others had already thought that up!
You’re ashamed for not making the gloves/mittens? Girl… I screwed up a pot-holder one time. I mean, how does that happen?! They’re just a bunch of little yarn loops and a square frame!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tempted to by something of the knitted-sort, and then in the end put it back because I realize I’ll have to tell someone “no… I didn’t actually knit these…”
The other knit blogger will be thinking that your mom was a wise woman not to attempt freakin’ thumbs and fingers! Can you see the nervous tick from all the pick-ups and bind-offs yet?
Oh no. I don’t think I can come read your blog any more . . .
My husband laughs at me because every year when it gets “cold” I buy about 5 pairs of those one size fits all gloves in black.. that way if I lose them, I can just pair them up with another glove.
I refuse to knit anything that will be easily lost.. like gloves or mittens.
GASP! I’m just going to have to unsubscribe…
Hehe, just kidding. Don’t sweat it, I haven’t made myself gloves yet, so I still wear the store bought ones. Sometimes consumerism can be convenient 😉
…That you’d rather buy mittens and gloves than knit them? And I say, hell yeah!
I love the shot of May cozying up to those lovely black mittens. She looks like she’s in heaven!
And as for buying a knit item? well, that is just fine to me 🙂
Oh please – Why else would anyone go to Target except for those cheap gloves!!
For that price I wouldn’t even think about knitting gloves myself 🙂
Cheers Eva
hahahahaha, that’s so funny!
LOL! Hey, a knitter’s gotta do, what a knitter’s gotta do.
Hooray for Glittens! I used to love mine in Ohio because I could still drink my coffee and use keys.
The horror!! But that way you don’t have the “joy” of knitting fingers.
Oh my – store bought gloves!!!
I just can’t bring myself to buy any knitted stuff anymore. I always check the seams and stuff and think I can do so much better & with nicer yarn too 😉
Plus there’s the ever-growing stash at home to be gotten through….
