Ah-choo!

I apparently have a summer cold. Blech. My brain feels wrapped in cotton wool… Hopefully I’m feeling livelier by Sunday, when Deb, Jeanne, and I journey east (along with many other Twin Cities knitters) to see the Yarn Harlot in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I’m still surprised that Eau Claire is as close as she will be to a metro area of over a million people, with more than 20 yarns stores… although I know that her publisher has tried unsuccessfully to set something up for the Twin Cities. Oh well – I’m looking forward to meeting some Wisconsin bloggers, such as Vicki of Knitorious.

Anyway, since my brain’s a bit sloggy today, I will attempt to distract you with colorful architecture! In the purple series, here’s Dreamhaven Books and Comics, located a few blocks south of me on Lake Street:

Here’s the Rainbow Building, located on Lake Street a few blocks west, in Uptown – first from the front and then from the side.

Seems that Chaos is keeping the exercise bike warm until I feel healthier…

“Actually, I’m waiting for you and the camera to leave the room so I can get started with my workout.”

  1. That “summer cold” seems to be making its rounds. Hope you feel better soon!

What? You’re not going to take Chaos to see the Harlot? So unfair but I guess he might upstage her 😉

  2. I’m getting over a summer cold too. Feel better now, i command it.
You live near Dreamhaven comics? THE Dreamhaven Comics?! I would never leave! I would probably blow more money on Neil Gaiman stuff there than I do on yarn! Well, pretty close anyway…

  3. Chaos –

If you can figure out the pedals, let me know. My human has one of those things, but she rides it all over town. I think it could be useful to have a backup if Operation Toonces fails and I can’t get the car keys…

    Your Partner in World Domination,

    Cricket

  4. So excited for you about meeting the Harlot! I live in Atlanta and the closest she comes to here on her tours is Nashville TN- none of our local knitters can make any sense of it either.
Cricket’s “Operation Toonces” comment made me spit my tea out in my lap…

  5. It seems there has been a cold making the rounds here, but it has been a short lived one. You’ll be good by Sunday!

Stephanie hasn’t even gotten close to our state. The closest I know of was Albuquerque…

  6. You get to see the yarn harlot? I’ve missed her in SLC by a few days and I’m seriously bummed. Have a great time and be sure to give a full report.

  7. Sorry to hear you have a cold :o( Lots of hopes (kitty paws too) that you feel better by the weekend!

Wow – you really know where the local ‘colour’ is 😉 Both of those buildings are great examples! Chaos, can you train Willow to use a bike like that? She might need it if she keeps lounging around all of the time!

  8. I’ve already seen the Yarn Harlot. It’s Vicki Knitorious I want to meet, you lucky duck! As for the summer cold, already had it. Yesterday evening, my hairdresser was suffering with a cold and I felt enveloped in a cloud of germs while he cut my hair (shows you how much I needed that haircut that I was willing to sit through it!). This morning I am fortified with vitamins in an attempt to stave off another attack.

  9. You must have got your cold from Younger? Didn’t know those germs could travel so far. Chaos is just like me, he can’t “perform” in public!

  10. Those buildings are great! We don’t have anything like that where I live. We’re in a “historic” district. The shops all have to have uniform signs. How boring.

  11. I hate summer colds (actually I hate any colds especially because I’m never sure whether it’s really a cold or allergies going haywire). Zinc lozenges and green tea. Usually helps me feel better:)

    Feel better soon!

  12. We have the summer crud going around here too. I hate summer colds! Get some rest and get well quickly so you’ll be at your best for the Harlot.

It’s good to see that Chaos is keeping up with his fitness plan.

  13. I love that picture and the caption for Chaos! So true.

The Harlot is going to be in Eau Clair on Sunday after being in Los Altos here on Saturday? That is jet-setting. Also, I should double check.

Poor Chris! I hope you feel better soon.

  14. it’s not allergies, i hope. if u need meds, i love advil cold and sinus. doesn’t make me feel hungover like nyquil/dayquil. get better soon!

  15. I’ll look for you in Eau Claire — I’ll be there with 1 (or 2 or 3, our plans are not completed finalized) fellow knitters in tow. Is Chaos coming, too? (heh — I bet he travels as well as every other cat I’ve known, which is to say: NOT!)

(Dija notice? I now have a (one-post) blog. Post #2 is still in draft form waiting for photos.)

  16. Oh summer colds are so crap! Hope you’re feeling better soon;)

LOVE the colours of the Rainbow building – its beautiful.

Are you seriously thinking of getting a wee sister for Chaos??? Has Chaos approved this idea – thinking he might not like having his limelight stolen by a wee one….
