Today I go back to work after my staycation. *sigh*
Northern Minnesota was very lovely over the weekend. Cool nights, sunny days, and no bugs – ahhhhh… On Saturday, we wandered in to Grand Rapids to the Goods from the Woods craft fair. We took a rambling route back to the cabin, which included driving through such metropolises as Effie and Togo. We stopped at this river to stretch our legs and skip a few stones.
On the drive home Sunday, I tried to get a few shots of the fall colors.
I couldn’t bring myself to stop and take better pictures – after slowly working my way up through assorted campers and trucks and the like on the two-lane highway, I didn’t want to have to pass all of those pokey vehicles again!
“Hmph. You were gone, Mom. You sure didn’t have my permission to be gone.” -Mayhem
So what do you call camping <– except for the more comfortable beds, it might as well have been that – at home?
Next to the definition of “sourpuss”, they should put your picture, May 😉
The first day back is the hardest! 🙁 Hope you enjoyed your staycation!
Did you buy me anything? A shot glass perhaps??
glad you had a great time but you are going to be putting in some serious belly rub or toy time with those irritated kitties. lol.
This is my absolute FAVOURITE time of year. Beautiful days, crisp evenings, colours, no bugs…I wish it was fall for longer.
It’s nice to see you back and with such beautiful pictures, too. Mom’s don’t need permission, Mayhem.
May certainly does look a little, um, perturbed.
Wow, back to work already? 🙁 Ugh. Well, I’m glad you had such beautiful weather up north. Oh, I LOVE this time of year!
If I was unaware of our relative geography before now, you would have entirely dispelled it with today’s post. Our trees are still green although some leaves are tumbling.
Pretty photos! And welcome home – even if the cats didn’t say so.
I absolutely love this time of year and your pictures are the reason why! Scritches to the kitties.
It sounds wonderful! Now you’re making me homesick for Minnesota again. 🙂
The drive home is always the worst part of going up north….I think they should label the left lane for speeders only. Hope the reentry goes well!
Ah…skipping stones. Hope your landing was fairly soft upon return.
BTW, what is that long, rounded woobie next to May?
Do you feel rested and rejuvenated after your staycation? I’m thinking of taking some time off for the same reason, but I’m afraid that I wouldn’t be able to “get away from it all” and relax without an actual change of location.
Gorgeous! I do miss seeing such beautiful fall foliage. We don’t get much of a fall here. I hope to get some nice fall viewing in this weekend, though.
I just love the fall colors 🙂
Chris- You guys have colors already? We probably do up north.
I just love it.
Boy – the colors need a week or two, huh? At least Mayhem had the consolation of his big scratchy puppy…
Glad you had an enjoyable time. The colors are going to be gorgeous up there this year.
What pretty photos! Our neighbor’s maple tree has started dropping leaves all over our patio, but they are just dried out green leaves—the maple doesn’t like the fact that there has been no rain since February. We’ll get a little color from other things in November.
May can’t fool me. She slept on the kitchen counter the whole time you were gone, and she loved it.
OK I give. What is that platypus shaped thing next to May? SOme leaves turning here too. Your pictures are lovely!
“Cool nights, sunny days, and no bugs” Those are the perfect times, and they are rare. Or at least rarely occur at a convenient time when you are off work and can enjoy them.
Togo = home of the mythical Togo Tech, where parents sent their unwanted offspring to college, never to be heard from again.
Good names for towns.
I’m glad you’re home safely! I bet the kitties are, too, no matter how much they complain!
Beautiful fall photos – lovely to hear you had a relaxing time.
Nice scenic shots.
You’ve been given an award! Pop by my blog to pick it up. 🙂
I love staycations! Helps that I live in a nice place, but I felt that way in central NY too (loads of neat stuff there as well). I would hazard a guess that MN offers some fun staycation options.
I’ve got a staycation of my own coming up. Looking forward to enjoying the fall colors.
Wow I think I lost a week somewhere. It seems like it was only few days ago when you started your staycation. Beautiful pictures and your leaves are turning! We’ve still got some time before our leaves turn. Do Chaos and May pout when you leave?
Wow, fall really is just around the corner. I can’t believe leaves are already turning up north.
Next time, you probably should get a signed permissions slip from Chaos and Mayhem to be gone. Otherwise you might get detention.
Oooh, Fall! How pretty. Nice to have you back.
I’ve been seeing a lot of the leaves changing around here too. I do not like it one bit. Yeah, it’s pretty, but you know what comes after the pretty trees!
Poor Mayhem, you are so neglected!
*sigh* I think I miss home the most this time of year. Thanks for sharing it 🙂
What beautiful pictures and I am glad you had a nice trip. I bet the kitties were glad to see you.
I’m so jealous! Looks lovely. (I think I’m ready to back to industry, but now I feel like I don’t know anything)
